Brain child of George Lucas, the star wars episodes are masterfully created, produced and directed. There are very few scenes void of special effects.

Some great special effects are submarined by some quite awful acting. . .however, the star wars fans here know that Yoda busting out the whuppin' stick was the highlight of this one. . .

I never got into the I, II and III series of the Star Wars genre. I think I might have watched this all the way through, but I can't really remember. It is not anything that you really need to remember.

.....The only good thing is less screen time for Jar-Jar... Finally he shuts his trap...

Whatever fun created in Episode I is quickly removed from this episode. Certain people are at least happy that the geekiest of all characters (Jar Jar Binks) is rarely seen in this film. (Jar Jar is a geek, C-3P0 is a nerd, and C-3PO doesn't like Jar Jar). Obi Wan gets a JEDI MULLET and we're introduced to two interesting characters: Jango Fett (who we see extensively as villains go) and Darth Tyranus. Christensen and Portman's natural chemistry is offset by their lines. They do a reasonable job but I got the impression they were talking to themselves the whole time. Lucas doesn't put much effort into directing the actors and this is evident by their performances. Unfortunately many, many people fail to see when Christensen does well with the script (usually when he's angry) and blame him instead of Lucas's choice of words and directing style. A third of the film is appealing to all, a third appealing to a few and a third makes me wish Lucas started writing the script before the actors showed up for sabre training.

Best of the last 3 episodes or first 3 depending on how you look at it. Some really good fight scenes and the plot held together. Of couse every one loves Yoda opening up a big can of whoop ass at the end.

Great except for the crappy love story.

This was the key-film, with imortant sentences: "You'll be my death"; or: the change of anakin when killing the Tusken, first mentioned is the wish to save lives, ... and uch more - much more than a simple love-story

For me it was just ok. I like the Star Wars series, but I prefer the classic ones.

I'm not a big fan of episodes 1-3, but this one was okay. Not great, just okay. Pretty decent special effects, of course.

I'm not a big fan of the prequels. This was the weakest I think. The story just didn't have very much action to it, and it was a little boring.

the second best in the new trilogy

Without question the worst in the series. Insufferably boring at times. Served no other purpose in the series other than to, rather unimpressively, further develop the characters in preparation for Episode III. It was cool getting to see Yoda finally roll up his sleeves and fight in this one, however.

This movie really wasn't that bad, and i don't see why everyone hates it so much. So what if it didn't have every scene filled with action! this movie was motly to build up suspence for ep. 3 anyway!

I thought the first episode was bad, but this one is so much worse. The one good thing about this one is that we see very little of Jar Jar. Anakin is a whole lot older now and start becoming a bit rebellious. I'm sorry but Hayden Christiansen just doesn't seem like the right person to do the job. I thought his acting was horrible - he seemed to be about as competent as a 7th grader putting on a middle school play. The storyline was pathetic if you ask me. Everything happens way too fast, it's as if nothing develops. Jango Fett's involvement in this movie seems unecessary to me as well. There's a lot of action but aside from Yoda's lightsaber scene, none of it was nearly as good as it could've been. The Clone Wars is a really cool concept that could've made a great movie, but as with the Phantom Menace, Lucas really mucked it up.

I don't understand why Lucas can't see how bad these are in comparison to the originals. With all that money, he could have at least had somebody look the script over before production. Also its too childlike. Has anybody noticed that the majority of the deaths are robots and clones, its like there trying to go fo a rated G or something.

Sorry, but its clear that Lucas is not good at expressing his characters emotions. When watching the film I always fast forward the tender scenes, which are torcherous and pathetic. It could of been much better. As for that S.O.B. Jar Jar Binks, I would suggest that Lucas remove him from the series, hopefully in a gruesome death in episode 3.

I am probally going to get slammed for this, but I like this and The Phantom Menace alot.

Alas, the astoundingly good special effects could not save this rather mediocre movie. Featuring a romance that feels forced and flaccid as well as a less then stellar performance by the one who is supposedly to inherit the name Darth Vader. I didn't feel the deep, brooding inner darkness of a man poisoned by hate and tempered by his ego, yet forced to wear the mantle of a noble Jedi Knight. As a result of all this I was vaguely entertained by the movie but a far cry from inspired.

It cannot compare to the original trilogy in any way, shape or form. While still entertaining, it was obvious that George Lucas has his magical touch. The writing was wooden and humorless-(where is a Star Wars film without its wit?). Too much time was wasted developing a vapid, stiff romance that lacked chemistry. I still enjoyed Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan however and the effects were still as fantastic. An improvement over Phantom Menace but a disappointment nonetheless.

FIRST - I LOVE THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY! Ok, I am a fan. As a movie by itself, it wasn't too bad. The plot was sometimes a bit hard to follow because Lucas didn't focus very long on any specific portion - he bounced from scene to scene and plot to plot. This lessened the value of the love story, and it cheapened the gravity of what was about to happen. Count Dooku wasn't thoroughly developed as a villain... People know you have to have a convincing villain to stir the audience. No convincing villain. My next set of disappointments with this movie is the typing up of loose ends. People say we shouldn't compare this movie to the original 3 Star Wars movies. But, we have to do that when typing up loose ends. The Clone Wars took on a mythical quality in Episode IV, but in this movie the only clone wars are when some boba fett clones take on the roger-rogers and beat them! THAT was the Clone Wars?? No way. Let-down. Then, the fact that all storm-troopers are clones of BOBA FETT!!?? I remember Boba Fett to be the most ruthless star-soldier in the galaxy. Everyone feared him. Stormtroopers couldn't ever shoot straight, were killed by the dozens everytime Solo opened fire, and seemed to be kinda dumb. Solo feared Boba Fett. That almost defies logic.. When I watch the original trilogy again, I still can't believe that those stormtroopers are genetically identical to Boba Fett. Let-down. And then, the politics of how the Jedi Council condoned the creation of those storm-troopers. IN fact, the whole story of the politics of Senator Palpatine seems to be too artificial, too dry, too you-gotta-be-kidding-me. That's how a 1,000 year old Republic fell into Darkness??? Let down. The love story obviously makes you yawn. Then, the third category is the special effects. Yeah, they're cool, but I really liked Chewbacca because he looked real. He had fur. Lucas overdid them, I think. Jar-Jar actually might have worked, but being a wholly computer-created creature he fell down --- everyone could tell he was animation. Chewy was NOT animation. You could suspend your disbelief. The final battle -- too CG. Too unbelievable. CG can be good, if used like sprinkles on a cake, not as the whole cake itself!!! And the roger-roger guys were the reason the Republic had to create an army?? Those roger-rogers don't even look scary!!! I mean - Lucas could have at least used some Dalek look-a-likes!!! Those are known to be deadly! Roger-Roger looks like a silly duckfaced robot meant to make toddlers giggle. They have been the principle footsoldiers for Palpatine's plans in the first 2 prequels. The Stormtroopers were the principal footsoldiers in the first trilogy. No comparison!!! And if you are, actually, trying to market to existing Star Wars fans, then you DO have to take their prior expectations into consideration. Without all the CG, I still posit that the Stormtroopers WERE BETTER than the new roger-rogers. And those are the reasons I only give this film 3 stars. I don't no how Lucas will tie it all up in one remaining film. Right now, everything is still too bouncy and sunny and childlike. I don't see the gravity, the bleakness, the hard-edged world of Episode IV. I see CG and unrealistic graphics, color schemes, and a technological world that isn't compatible with the world you will see in the last 3 episodes...

I have seen vacation videos that are more interesting than this.

this sequel chronicles Anakin Skywalker and how he started to turn evil. Great battle scenes, music, special effects, and an excellent plot.

Was better than that 1st, godawful prequel, but it's still crap. The clusterf**k fight scene at the end was interesting, but I wasn't impressed by the Yoda fight, and it could've been a fantastic scene. They also screwed up the origin of Boba Fett. The romance really blows. This kid playing Annakin sucks. I'm still asking myself: who really cares what happened before Star Wars?

George, remember Storytelling? Remember creating characters we loved or at least admired, even if they were embodiments of evil? Remember giving us surprises instead of disillusionment? I guess not.

Uhh . . . . well, at least it's better than Episode one. They wisely cut out most of Jar-Jar's presence, and they upped the maturity level a lot. The love story was nauseating, but understandably necessary. The computer graphics were well done. Anakin was so irritating, but I think they wanted him that way. The only part of the movie that was really worth seeing, for me, was Yoda's battle at the end. He was like a little green cricket on speed! It was hilarious, I can watch just that part again and again. But, that's about it. If you haven't seen this movie yet, it may be worth seeing if you can stomach the nauseating love scenes.

It was alright...but it seemed kinda stupid. And I hate that guy who play Anakin...he sucked.

The movie, simply put, is BAD. Never have I ever seen a romance between two characters done so badly. In one scene, the dialogue and acting between Hayden Christensen's Anakin and Natalie Portman's Padme was so bad, I literally cringed and tried to ignore what they were saying. There are also many other parts of the movie where the dialogue is just plain...crappy. However, if you ignore the frequent terrible writing and "acting" (...like I did the second time, AFTER laughing throughout the first time), you might get some time to admire the wonderful special effects that quite literally make the movie. The effects are numerous and you have to wonder how much time it took to make all those computer generated images. However, special effects can't make a movie good, let alone special, if the plot and acting itself aren't in decent condition. All in all, this movie isn't really worth your time, unless you like sci-fi films or if you're intrigued by the Star Wars saga (I'm a fan of Star Wars, not the Star Wars films)...

The nifty special effects could not save the horrendous acting. George Lucas has finally lost his mind. There was no good performance. Even Christopher Lee couldn't deliver the "join the dark side" speech in a way that didn't sound exactly like the first one from Vader. The crowning achievement in this horrible travesty of a film was Skywalker Sr. goes to rescue his mother. I literally was crying with laughter when she looked up into her son's eyes, just barely holding onto life, and says "Ani? Is that you? Oh, you're so handsome." What is this? A visit to Grandma's? Just a perfectly awful film. The only parts I enjoyed were the parts when there was no dialogue to ruin it.

Overall this was a good movie, but I felt like the acting was strained somehow between Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen. During their scenes it was almost like two William Shatners in the same room trying to say their lines.

Palpatine continues his conquest of domination and destruction of the republic. He looks a little more tired in this one because the quest for galactic domination is taking its strain. similar to phantom menace in that palpatine keeps pushing and gaining a stronger hold on the senate by not just being chancellor this time but gets the senate to elect him as a supreme commander/dictator to still the turmoil brought on by the trade federation. again palpatine is playing the trade federation, he used them in phantom menace to get elected chancellor, and here he uses them to get the clone army approved by the senate, and to gain ultimate control over the republic. at the same time he gets some termites who make battle droids for the trade federation to construct plans for a death star. and has count dooku deliver them to him on coruscant. i like dooku much more than darth maul who was all braun and no brains. i think palpatine will have a bit of trouble in getting rid of dooku, he is going to have to really work at out smarting dooku in the next film, because there can be only one emperor. jango fett continues the badass image of the fett's we got from boba in the old movies. i look forward to seeing boba in action in the third movie, because the effects with jango were excellent, he exemplifies everything a bounty hunter should be in the star wars universe. and what i wish i could have seen boba doing in the battle at the sarlacc pit in jedi. an unfitting end in movie history if i ever saw one. take his head off with a lightsabre or call it a draw, anything but igniting his jetpack by mistake and sending him headfirst into jabbas skiff then tumbling into the mouth of the sarlacc. kinda ironic it was a misfire of jangos jetpack that did him in. or was it? and by the way how come all the stormtroopers in the early films are so easy to killoff if they are all clones of jango should they not be a little more deadly and inventive. guess its the inbreeding over 30 years. nuff said. attack of the clones is a fun movie and nice addition to the star wars saga.

I absolutely adored the original Star Wars films and I have been highly disappointed with both The Phantom Menace and this one. Attack of the Clones is far better than the first, but its nowhere as superior as the original three - there seems to be a loss of atmosphere which was present before. I was extremely unimpressed with the chasing scene when they are trying to capture the bounty hunter - it looked like a computer game rather than real buildings and the script was horrible. Annakin has gone from an annoying little kid who was kinda cute to an obsessive young man who sulks. The relationship between him and Obe One was shallow and under developed. There are some scenes that did impress me - the light sabre scenes were magnificent and I loved the way that Yoda was jumping all over the place and then he gets his walking stick and slumps on it after the fight was finished. Also, the scene where the Jedi's are fighting the robots were good and there were some amusing lines. The love story thread was also unconvincing and Padmae let in far too easily. The lines that Natalie Portman had ro saw were absolutely cringe worhy. I really do hope that the third one makes up for the first two. I find it such a shame that George Lucas had such a good idea and the films aren't fufilling the potential. After all, everyone wants to know why Anakin went to the dark side and what happened to Padmae.

Better than episode 1, and on par with the other movies (the acting wasn't so great in the original Star Wars either). The Yoda fight scene was worth the admission price! Yoda rocks!

Good to see that Lucas learnt his lesson after the awful "Phantom Menace" and produced a far better movie. The special effects are among the few computer generated ones that actually looked real in modern films, and were a vast improvement on Episode I. The acting was far better, the story more interesting, less Jar-Jar and the ties between this and Episode IV begin to show already. Some complained about the overly long romance scenes, but with Natalie Portman looking like she does, I'm not one of them ;). Overall, a huge improvement. Still not up there with the original 3, but very close.

Wow! What an incredible movie! First Return of the Jedi was my favorite, then Phantom Menace and now Attack of the Clones! We're talking great acting, awesome special effects and battle scenes and even great humor with Jar-Jar and 3P0. Not even the extended length is a downer! Highly recommended for all!

Fairly typical Star Wars. Great special effects, horrible acting. So, why is it that they cast Natalie Portman in that role? Her role could have been played better by a dead person. All in all, it was a boring movie spiced up with the ususal special effects, but everyone in the world goes to see it.

I saw this movie and thought it was pretty good but i have always thought that the origionals were way better. The first 3 that came out in the 70s were way better

Maybe I went with higher expectations, maybe I'm just hard to impress, but for some odd reason I didnt come out of Episode II with much of a smile on my face. Okay, okay, the special effects were awesome and it's pretty much worth seeing simply to see those effects on the big screen. Also, the scene with Yoda and the bad guy (I never really did process what the bad guy's name was) going head to head at the end was wicked, but that's simply because Yoda kicks ass :). However, the movie was pretty much ruined for me by the incredubly flat dialogue and the characters, most of which I didn't sympathize with at all. I must say the love scenes between Annikan and Amadala may have been some of the most painful experiances of mine in the theatre. If anything deleting the love story would probably have improved the movie not made it worse. Still, I recommend the movie for the visual effects because it would really be a waste not to see them on the big screen while they're available. Just don't expect that much from the screenplay while your at it.

I must say after seeing this movie i was a little dissapointed....it certainly came out "dry".....but i thought the special effects were amazing, true lucas work. To be truly honest i only went to see the movie because hayden christensen was in it! And i never knew anakin had such strong feelings for the senator...isn't she a little old for him?....i mean, she was a teenager when he was just a small boy.....

I could ramble on endlessly about how the "act" in which Anakin returns to Tatooine to save his mother is handled in a manner that makes it seem like time-filler, or how the budding romance between Anakin and Padme, and the inner-decension of Anakin into Darth Vader do not pack the emotional jolt that they could or should, but I won't I just sat back in the theater twice and enjoyed what I saw. Once you learn to enjoy a film without hanging on its short-comings, then you've begun to develope your own opinions and personal feelings of the cinema. I enjoyed "Attack of the Clones" immensely, and hope to see it again soon. Because I enjoyed it so much, I give it 5 stars, despite the fact that it's only worth 4.

the best in the series so far!

From a technical standpoint, it leaves much to be desired, but "Attack of the Clones" is chock-full of pure entertainment ad I love it! I've seen it twice already and intend on seeing it again in the future. Definately one of the best in the entire Star Wars saga.

The movie was the absolute best.It was funny had great graphics and a wonderful plot!It should deserve much better then what some of your reviwers are giving it and I think you should take ther reviews off!

Star Wars fans prepared to be dazzled and blown away by effects, and some insight into the three original star wars, with the awesome music of Darth Vader making one grin cheekily. This Star Wars is visually spectacular and the storyline stays put throughout. It has something for everyone, i.e. A spunky boy for the girls, a little skin for the guys, awesome effects for any movie-lover, talented actors (Christenesen, Jackson and McGregor) and a side of Yoda I'm sure most people thought we would never see. This episode is a roller-coaster ride for the imagination. However, i feel the romance aspect was well-played by our young actors, but in some points you seem to think it's an episode of some dramatic soap opera. Also, both times watching the film i have noticed the start takes you through the narrative (that is, it takes time to tell the story), so the action may not appear straight away, but when it does come you smile from ear to ear. Overall, a fabulous movie with new-comer Christensen setting the mood and pace for an evil Darth Vader.

Now that I've seen Episode II, I understand why the critical reviews are all over the board, with USA Today, for instance, giving it 3 1/2 stars while other papers trash it. It's all about why you're going to see the movie in the first place. If you're looking for sharp, original dialogue and good acting, you're going to be very disappointed. The acting is wooden and there are several lines (especially in the romantic sub-plot between Anakin and Amidala) that are so goofy they'll make you cringe. But if you're looking for great special effects, a lot of light saber battles (including one with Yoda), and the typical Star Wars storyline, you're going to enjoy the movie. There are some worth-the-price-of-the-ticket action scenes, including a great high-speed chase scene near the beginning and a huge battle scene at the end. I should probably mention, though, that I'm biased. I was 7 when the original Star Wars came out, and the initial three movies were a big part of my childhood. I can't hear the music and see "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" without getting chills. And on top of that I'm in love with Natalie Portman, so even if she's forced to say terrible lines I still like seeing her on the screen. Episode II isn't a great movie, but it does its job of setting up Episode III, and - if you even remotely enjoy fantasy/sci-fi movies - it's worth seeing.

Before i get into some details i have to say something. I'm not hacking on this movie because im a Star Wars fanatic that simply can't be pleased. I have actually talked to a couple die hard fans that thoroughly enjoyed this movie above and beyond the first installment of the new trilogy. I AM however hacking on this movie because its simply not that good. As you can see in any ad for this movie computer generated images(cgi)play an immense role. One might say that they eclipse the story. Nice try, but we still see it squirming around in there. Lucas seemingly thinks that bigger is better and, quite frankly, quickly dilutes the story with slightly above average cgi that will look dated in 6 months. This is not to say that some scenes arent pulled of terrificly because they are. Nothing though will leave you wandering if what you're looking at is real or computer generated. You'll know. Theres such a thing as overkill George, look into it. Trying to keep this short...on to the story. Well written this is not. The basic structure revolves around the budding romance between Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, along with events that are pulling Skywalker towards his turn to the dark side. Overall i was cool with the basics of the story. The dialogue though is not very strong. At some points you just have to smack yourself in the head to make sure you heard them right. Most of the humor and even some of the more serious moments in the movie simply fall flat because of the lines that are spoken. On to acting. The actors i enjoyed. There are some action scenes that are very good in this movie. Some, in my opinion are not. There are some cgi sequences that are very good in this movie and there are some that are not. There are however no actors that slouch in there roles or presentations. There are moments involving blue/green screens where an actor works literally by themselves that leave a bit to be desired but i cant count it against them. Nicely done. My comments may sound critical, but thats because they are. There was alot to be critical about. A movies a movie. Simply having the title Star Wars thrown on it doesn't make it any better. Enjoy.
