 | MLBLV (0) 07/11/2002 | Chilean food is great. They have something there for every appetite. If you like seafood you're welcome to it. (I personally don't care for it much!) They do wonders with clams and oysters. In the meantime, I thoroughly enjoy some of the other cuisine they have available. Empanadas, sopaipillas, pastel de choclo, and even porotos con riendas are all great! Porotos con riendas is a mix of beans, chorizo and a thick spaghetti like pasta. It's great! It's also simple, which is what I like about the Chilean taste.

They also have a lot of unique local dishes such as "pastel de choclo" (a sort of sheppard's pie with corn, ground beef, and chicken) as well as the typical drink "pisco sour" (a VERY sweet mix of lemon, sugar, and pisco liquor from grapes). They also eat a lot of beef and sausages like their neighbors in Argnetina and Uruguay, often times parts of the animal you would normally throw away (like stomach and cow's utter). Overall I don't love Chilean food but it is always interesting. Great inexpensive wine too!!!
