It's pretty hard to get a garden salad wrong even if you are McDonald's. While I can't speak for the ones at McDonald's, I have had them at Wendy's, and they are fine.

you know they should give up this image boosting thing that actually doesn't mean anything, because it doesn't mean anything

And the person who comes to McD's to order greenery should seek therapy.

These are clearly only offered on the menu for legal reasons.

McDonald's premium salads taste like grass. I prefer good old iceberg and/or Romaine lettuce in my salads, thank you very much.

Ordering a salad at MacDonalds is the gastronomic equivalent of giving out nicoderm patches in a lung cancer ward.

Save yourself, time and money. Go buy your own lettuce and whatever else you want to add to your salad and fix it yourself. Their salad is nothing special.

The new side (garden) salad in my opinion couldn't really be any better. Now maybe it isn't at other locations, as I've only had the newer salads at my local McDonalds in Marysville, Ohio. But the greens are DARK green, but still very tender, the grape tomatoes are very good. It is a very simple salad, but I really enjoy them. MUCH better than the <gag> salad shakers! I'm glad to see them expanding into more healthy menu items.

I've only had this once, a long time ago, and the lettuce was crisp and the vegetables fresh. That is pretty much a good salad in my book.

McDonalds is not the place for salads. Usually, the lettuce is cold and wilted, the lunch meats are bad and the dressing is bad. But I give McDonalds credit for trying to offer healthy alternatives, no matter how bad they are and in addition I give them credit for making their fried foods healthier by frying their food using a new oil that does not have as many fatty acids on them.

I think these are very tasteless and the vegetables never look fresh.

I don't think any fast food place has the first idea how to make a really good salad. In my experience McDonald's is no exception. Too much nutritionally pointless head lettuce, not enough actual romaine or leaf lettuce. And if the salad were a movie the veggies would merely be making quick cameo appearances. McDonald's is so fond of contests they should run one with their salads in mind - get a tomato and win an order of small fries.
