Their job is also to be the best example of what a healthy specimen of their breed is supposed to look and act like. Show dogs are 99% of the time breeding stock. Being up on stage in front of so many people, being poked and prodded, and groomed every 5 minutes can be pretty stressful. How to act in a ring has to be learned. And after a day's work they go home and provide companionship to their owners. No, not the most impressive job to have, but more taxing than laying around all day.
