My favorite Python, and they were all great. His beggar in Life of Brian, the Emperor, the field worker in Holy Grail... masterful.

Like his Python colleague, Palin is not a stand-up comedian: he's a comedic actor. His work with MP was solid, but also transpired 25 years ago. He did that program on train travel that was mildly entertaining and intelligent, but nothing since. Again, if this guy is so talented, such a comic genius, why isn't he churning out brilliant scripts year after year and getting the projects bankrolled so that he can keep working, keep before the public eye? One of the major reasons why none of the Pythons had much of a solo career is due to the emsemble synergy they enjoyed while working together. The magic seemed to have been lost when any of these guys attempted to go it alone.

Again, like John I am a huge fan of Michael's career and I have even met him. He's not a stand up comedian though - let's make that clear.

I'm not sure that i'd class Michael Palin as a "stand-up" comedian, but he was certainly an integral part of the brilliant,ground-breaking Python team, which in addition to its superb TV shows and sketches made 2 of the most popular(and excellent)comedy films.I give him 5 stars, however, not only for his comic achievements but just as much for being one of the most modest, intelligent, charming, witty, genuine and amiable of celebrities.Anyone who's seen his quite wonderful BBC travelogue adventures,"Around the World in 80 Days","Pole to Pole"etc, will immediately recognise these qualities. The most shocking moment in the exceptional (if slightly overlong) film "Brazil" was the discovery that an obviously nice guy could be such an evil character in that Orwellian nightmare.

I LOVE Michael Palin! One of the best and most memorable of all the Python guys, he’s witty, bright, versatile, multi-talented and charming. His bits with Cleese are especially hilarious – the fish dance, the ministry of silly walks – so much so that I think the two of them alone would have made a great comedy team (not to discredit the other guys who I also love). Palin has done everything from an old lady to a priest to a lumberjack (and he’s OK!) and all with that special touch of brilliant and endearing insanity only he could give them.
