A Cub icon. My favorite player from '88 until retirement. Definately not the best Cub of all time, I'd be a fool to say that. Was amazing (no pun intended) in the '89 NLCS. Had a ton of fun while playing the game. Had as good an eye for the strike zone as any player. Should have visited the weight room a few times to get more pop in his bat. Started off the 9th inning rally for the Dbacks in the deciding game of the World Series with a single. Vintage Gracie!

Don't get me wrong, I have loved this guy his whole entire career as well. Gracie was positioned at first base my whole childhood. One of the best fielding first basemen of all time; awesome contact hitter, and could occasionally hit the ball out of the ball park. BUT, he won't get into the HOF.

Who knows, he may end up in there anyways. Always did like his play on-fiend, and he's a nice knowledgeable guy off-field, too. Someone needs to give this man a coaching job somewhere.

Tough player, not enough pop in his bat for a corner infielder, particularly a first sacker. Tended to be under-rated.
