 | The Wanderer (0) 04/08/2008 | Great actress: people here seem to suck in rating actors and actresses of the golden age

 | Sundiszno (32) 11/02/2005 | If you judge her by the standard for her era in the movie industry, she's tough (if not impossible) to beat. Even if you judge her on her own merits (i.e., objectively with no reference to the culture of the times) she's spectacular. She knew how to act - not like some of the cardboard cutouts that "grace" today's movies, who rely on being real smart-asses with not enough money, apparently, to buy clothes that will cover more than 23% of their bodies. Don't get me wrong - I am not being sanctimonious here (at least, I don't think so), but we're talking about acting ability.

 | skinray (0) 01/05/2005 | To me the most over rated actress ever, I could never understand what all the fuss was about. As for that so called ethereal smile, to me it always seemed like an irritating smirk. Ridiculous that she won the Oscar for Gaslight over Stanwyck's incredible performance in Double Indemnity.

 | pwright1 (2) 07/18/2004 | The most beautiful and talented actress ever to grace the screen. Tall and naturally beautiful, she was ahead of her time. My all time favorite actress.

 | tvtator (6) 11/16/2003 | Ingrid Bergman was a spectacular actress. What she was so good at was showing emotion. Next time you watch an Ingrid Bergman film look at her face, most especially her eyes, she has the most expressive eyes in the Golden Age of Hollywood.

 | MarjorieB (0) 10/17/2003 | She was great in Casablanca. But she was just as great in Hitchcock's Notorious and Indiscreet with Cary Grant. In her later movies, she had a bit of a comedic side.

 | odie01 (0) 02/16/2001 | Initial thoughts of Ingrid Bergman always start with "Casablanca" and who complain about that. Granted Ingrid was shot on soft focus throughout but that was par for the period. She was the sole female influence throughout what is still seen as one of the premier love films. Her looks and accent made her phonomenally popular and her timeless persona make her a role model for all actresses. A real great
