Watch the old Lewis and Martin TV show. That's where you can see the comic genius. His movies...no.

I hope he films his end, when his gigantic head (literally AND figuratively) finally explodes.

His popularity in France is a deplorable statement on that nation's culture.

He did one very good film, The Nutty Professor. His attempts at TV shows were bombs. His work with Dean Martin was pretty lame and awfully dated when you see it on TV every once and awhile. He made a career at being a professional retard, setting the standard for birdbaths like Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler. Even through he came from the same neighborhood in Newark, New Jersey as I did and is my Home Town Boy, I have never found him to be particularly amusing.

Jerry Lewis?? omg what's Jerry Lewis doing in this list?

Why is Jerry Lewis in the stand-up comedian section? He is best known for his movies. He could be outrageously funny in some of his movies. Some of my favorite Jerry Lewis movies are Rock A Bye Baby, The Disorderly Orderly, Jumping Jacks, Who's Minding The Store, The Nutty Professor, The Family Jewels and The Bellboy.

What in the world is wrong with this man? Is he trying to set a record for the number of stupid public statements ever made? I long ago gave up on him as a comedian and began thinking of him as more of cheesy gift to France (I?m surprised they don?t ask for the Statue of Liberty back considering, but I guess it?s a cultural thing I can?t fathom). But when he says things like women never make good comedians (I?m sure this would have been news to Lucille Ball among many others) followed not long ago by some very terse remarks about people in wheelchairs and using pity to get money for charities. Well, ya gotta wonder if he?s still all there. To be fair, anyone who caught even a few minutes of the Labor Day telethon this year could see something isn?t right with him physically. Kind of sad to see him that way but geeeez Jerry try and put a cork in it once in awhile. Every thought does NOT have to be expressed.
