 | oscargamblesfro (81) 07/07/2006 | Quite frankly, whoever you are, the further you are from being a right wing fundamentalist/ evangelical, an old money preppie type, or a business tycoon, the harder it's probably going to be for him to really, truly, be able to relate to you. Of all groups of Americans, in my belief, the types mentioned above are, in general, the most likely to be perplexed and angry that everyone's not like them, or doesn't conform to their mores, beliefs, ideas, and ways of life.

 | CanadaSucks (50) 04/29/2006 | Certainly not. . .but I do find the concept of 'cultural sensitivity' a little overrated. . .it means different things to different people and may or may not be used to further undeserved entitlement. . .

 | shadow_raven76 (0) 12/07/2004 | Not only in Bush not culturally sensitive in other countries, he can't even manage to be sensitive to cultural differences here in America, particularly if you consider religion cultural, which it is. If you are not rich, Christian and white, Bush wanted your votes, but I guarantee now that he has them, he has no use for you. Personally, I agree with the graffiti I saw on a bathroom wall: Both Hitler and Bush use God to justify their predjudices.

 | patra7 (0) 10/20/2004 | I would prefer the term open-mindedness to th emor politically correct, and therefore appaling cultural sensitivity. The fact that his father was at the top of the CIA and he didn't even bother to go along with him on a trip to other countries speaks tons for me. I wonder what he thinks of us ... foreigners. We probably seem like weird, exotic creatures to this guy.

 | abichara (63) 02/11/2004 | You get the feeling that Bush doesn't really care about other cultures. For example, the President last year went to Russia for a summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. At one point, he was taking a tour of St. Petersburg and he said he wanted the quick tour; he was getting impatient. St. Petersburg is a very historic city, one that the Russians are very proud of. Being a diplomat entails a lot of high politics; missile defenses, economic relations, and regional interests all are major issues that are on the table with the Russians. But really when it comes down to it, diplomacy is a lot like when you visit someones house. You want to take an interest in the person you're visiting. You should stick around for a few hours and have a few drinks, not be ready to rush out the door; this tells a person that you don't really give a damn. You don't walk into someone's house and tell them that you don't care--unless it's someone you hate. Likewise when you're doing business with someone, you want to get to know the person so you know exactly who you are dealing with on a first name basis. By doing this, you're maximizing expectations on either side. Same goes for politics; taking this approach would help out Bush immensely. Maybe then he won't have to put to together token coalitions of the willing when certain tasks have to be done. But from what I heard, Bush isn't that well traveled so I doubt he'll want to change.

 | BIGBABY (11) 05/20/2003 | I support Bush, but he really dosent care much about other countries. All of the arguments I've heard by him are on terrorists, regime change, and things like that. I think he would get much more support if he focused on liberating these regimes and putting in democtratic governments.

 | Solenoid DH (20) 04/23/2003 | When did "cultural sensitivity" become important in a President? Look at the truly great presidents in our nation's history. Were any of them culturally sensitive? I just want my president to uphold the Constitution, as he vowed to do when he took the oath of office.

 | twinmom101 (33) 04/23/2003 | Oh Lord, why are we even rating this? He'd probably approve sending pork rind surpluses to the starving Iraqis. His "you're either with us or against us" bit has shown just how oblivious he is to the complex system that is International politics. The rest of the world is not his private "dude ranch" just waiting to be lassoed into democracy.

 | John290 (0) 02/25/2003 | You're kidding, right? Bush may be a lot of things, but he is not culturally sensitive. I wouldn't be suprised if his next speech included the terms "kraut" and "frog". He really doesn't care what other countries think...unless, of course, they support him.

 | Redoedo (41) 02/24/2003 | As Bill Maher puts it, President Bush seems to be "lumping" all the Arabs together into one pen. Believe it or not folks, not all Arabs are terrorists. And not all whites are good, compassionate people. There are bad people whereever you go. Who comitted the Oklahoma City Bombing? Anyway, President Bush's intent to interfere with Affirmative Action is completely unconstitutional and wrong, and truely shows his cultural insensitivity.

 | NickDanger (0) 02/10/2003 | Not bad, considering he's a far-right Republican and such are not known for being strong in this area. Unfortunately, he can't really give it much more than lip service, or his own party would disown him.
