I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH DENNIS AND HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN FAIRLY LEVEL HEADED AND EVEN TEMPERED. BASEBALL WAS HIS SPORT OF CHOICE AT THE TIME, BUT HE HAS PROVEN A VERY GOOD JUDGE OF FOOTBALL TALENT (LOOK AT WHAT HE BUILT AT PITTSBURG STATE) AND HAS THE ABILITY TO BRING OUT THE TOTAL TEAM EFFORT.

Coach Fran is very underrated. Even if he did leave Alabama for money, he still is a great coach and knows how to recruit ( Martellus Bennett, Stephen Mcgee). He should be ranked in at least the top 15. He has a better record than Mack Brown.

Fran is great coach, just look at his record, what is there to argue with. Fran has turned many programs around including Alabama, so get the chip off your shoulder. He left ya'll in alot better shape than you were when he got there. Anyway, I don't see how you all think he left for more money when he left a clause in his contract saying that if a few schools, including A&M, offered him a job, he had no legal binding to stay at Alabama. Fran just knows how great an atmosphere there is at A&M and wanted to be a part.

Cannot keep his word just another coach in the tradition of corrupt coaches at A&M from Bear Bryant to Jackie Sherrill to him now.

A great organizer, solid recruiter, and wily gameday coach. He was a perfect fit for Alabama (remember how they took Oklahoma to the wire in 2002?) but totally screwed the Tide for more money. Walking out on a bunch of unpaid 18-year old kids who are busting their balls for your paycheck? Sorry, that's bad karma. The 77-0 shellacking of A&M by Oklahoma was a taste of that karma.

two words-Money Whore. I wouldn't give him a chance to coach anywhere-he's just a coach looking for his next stepping stone to the top-but it ain't gonna happen. Great coaches are made by building great teams, Fran is mediocre at best.

He lost a game 77-0 last year with decent talent......good coach? don't think so. Slocum wouldn't have lost that bad

Alabama fans' opinions should not be credible since they do have some resentment towards Fran. I guess he just wanted to go to a better place as hard as that is to believe. Good coach, great guy and a will to win. A&M will be back.

This coach failed his Alabama players miserably and when you have ethics like that, it can't bode well. After all, you are the example you set for your players. I say its wait and see on his caoching ability but he let down and lied to his players and that is what college football is about.

He'll put A&M right again after being left an empty cupboard on the defensive side of the ball by R.C. Slocum.

Forget all the 'bama bluster & sour grapes... the guy knows how to coach. He has been able to make things happen in weak programs and turn them around. I will be watching A&M with interest this year to see what shapes up, and I will be even more interested to see the program evolve in the seasons following this one. Big 12 is getting more and more interesting... I'll have to get TiVO before it all begins.

His no class treatment of his Alabama players last year was as low as it goes. A man with no personal loyalty except to the almighty dollar. No courage - his website has been shutdown - can't stand the heat I guess. And tremendous pressure to win or else - with this track record for job hopping he has to win or fall by the wayside. The Aggies ousted a coach with tremendous loyalty to his players and the school in favor of this guy?!?!?

No staying power...LMAO...I can't believe you have guys like this on the list and you don't have Fisher DeBerry on it. DeBerry wins year in and year out with academy players... few others on the list could have done that.

A two-faced pathological liar who can't take the pressure of big time college football. Would give Fran Phoney negative marks if they were available ..... what a Con Artist ! This weasel would lie when the truth woudl help him - he deserves to be in Texas, home of Scalawags galore.

I must rate Franchione in two areas. As a coach, I give him high marks. His attention to detail is superb and he leaves no stones unturned. He excells in recognizing and setting of priorities. At Alabama, he took a program that had been rocked to its core by serious NCAA sanctions and instilled a sense of pride and confidence.....then, in one action, quietly packed the pride and confidence in his suitcase in the middle of night and quietly tiptoed out of town. When the NCAA announced its sanctions in the Albert Means case, Franchione pleaded with the nearly 40 juniors and seniors who could transfer without losing eligibility to stay,to depend on him and to "hold the rope", as he expressed it.He asked them not to give up just because the job got tougher. They believed in him and when the other schools came courting, they stayed. When it came time for him to make the same committment, Franchionne left when Texas A$M came courting, batting his eyes at them while calling the sports media liars that he was talking to A$M. Franchione had the world at his feet. The Tide faithful loved him, not only for his success, but for the style of play his teams exhibited, with well-balanced offenses, an advanced strength development program and cunning and effectiveness as a playcaller. In Franchione's first meeting with his A$M players, I'm sure he asked for their committment, just as he will in the living rooms of high school seniors. I know women who are beautiful asthetically, but they have the heart of a pirhana, which more than overrides any beauty the eye may behold. Franchione's players should disdain the image and recognize the inherant danger. In collegiate coaching, trust is everything. In the area of ethics and trust, Franchione is nothing.
