byrd would have beat lennox lewis but they managed to dodge each other.he did beat holyfield tua and klitchko probaly his best wins.him moving down to light heavy could extend his career because he can beat all them guys on points...tarver jones calzaghe hopkins who ever it may be....he proved he could box wit anybody give him credit for that...his lack for power coincides for his hand speed and defensive skills.he comes to win every fight.u must respect that..i'll like to see a tarver byrd fight........

Chris Byrd does not even belong in the ring with most of todays heavyweights. His style is horrible, his power is lacking, and if it were not for all of the questionable fighters, which make up the majority of his wins, he would be a bottom feeder in the world of boxing.

this little pansy shouldnt have a title. cant ensure a win and cant fight to save his life. hes a fluke.

He doesn't get five stars because he's a very small heavyweight with a junior middleweight punch, although he's quite fast. Someone like a Roy Jones would give him hell, but most of the true heavyweights would get slapped silly and lose decisions to Chris Byrd.

I've been watching Chris Byrd since about 1997 and this guy is absolutely amazing. His pure boxing and defensive skills are right up there with the best of all-time. He makes people look terrible and has fun doing it. No wonder everyone ducks him. Lennox "Chump" Lewis was even quoted as saying, "I'm not touching Chris Byrd." Well, he couldn't touch him anyway...Byrd would embarass Lewis. But, it's a fight that will never happen because of Lennox's fear of losing to a legitimate condender.

Chris Byrd is the best defensive boxer of this era, and does it really matter if hes boring he still gets the job done. And his job isnt to entertain its to win the fight. He has Lewis running scared of him because of his great skills.

Chis Byrd isn't Boring, if you like Pernell Whitaker. Chris Byrd is like Whitaker on the highest level, but Pernell was a bit better.

I think Chris Bryd is extremley underated by the general public. Boxers avoid this man like the plague because he makes opponents look stupid. People have forgotten that boxing is a art, the abilty to deliver a punch without being hitten back. I think anybody who says otherwise has been watching a little bit to much Rocky.

Deceptively good. That basically sums up what Chris Byrd is all about. I watched him fight Holyfield a while back, and he had the aging ex-champ completely befuddled. Toward the end of the match Holyfield resorted to a Tyson-like headhunting tactic trying to land one crushing shot. This guy is definitely worthy of a shot at Lewis, but Lewis won't take the fight, so maybe it would be fun to see Byrd up against Tyson soon...

Very underrated boxer. The only reason hes boring to some, is because hes not a one punch KO fighter. Chris Byrd is the epitome of the "sweet science". My favorite, and most "exciting" heavy around today, by far. He fights Wlad in Germany, (and other fighters have said the same thing about the fights over there) there was something on Wlads gloves that swelled his face and blinded him. By the way he humiliated his brother, and since Byrd has never been swollen before by even harder hitters, I believe that there is no reason to doubt he could'nt do the same to Wlad.

he gots to be great if has lennox lewis afraid to fight him

You have to love this man. The way this 6'2 ex-middleweight without anything that even reminds you of punching power makes monsters like David Tua look stupid is just awesome. His defense, based on head- and bodymovement, sharp jab and quick little flurries are all works of art. I believe he'll beat anybody with less than an 80-inch reach.

Very underated boxing skills. If he were 6'5" or so, or at least had a better reach, he would be the man on top.
EDDIETHEGREAT 02/25/2003
I respect his defensive skills as a boxing expert, but for any casual fan he is very boring to watch and when he came up against Wlad Klitschko he was destroyed. Although he is definately a top 5 heavyweight, he will never dominate the division unless Wlad gets 'killed' because as a blown up middleweight he never has the power to hurt anyone above 220 lbs with an effective jab and left hook.
