Jim Tressle rocks dudes!!! He is also a great coach and a great man. we watched a documentary about him at my church.
ben1985 04/20/2008
Great coach! Great human!
wc123dawg 02/15/2008
Not a very good coach for the level of athletic talent he has on the team. Does not run an entire offensive playbook and plays a much too ultra-conservative style of football that is outdated. He plays a bend and don't break defense that only works against the old time big ten schools that do not run a full offense. Does not adapt well to other teams, just sticks with his old time game plan and loses the big games.
WarmHand 01/15/2008
LSU likes Jim Tressel and his coaching! Woody Hayes (rest his ole soul) would've been a better match for Les Miles, though. Jim's from the Urban Meyer/Tommy Tuberville school of coaching: straight face and look like you're witnessing an execution.
grouper777 12/26/2007
The comments around the 2005 season are hillarious. I also read Glen Mason's comments section where people thought he should have been the coach at OSU. Thank god (or Tressel if that's your religion) that Andy Geiger was in charge instead of some idiots on this blog.
joefabitz 11/27/2007
the best damn coach in the land
BlueInc 09/27/2007
Though I am a michigan man, you have to admire how he handles all the adversity he faces with his players off the field antics, and how continues to build this team, while losing key players evry year. Truly a class act.
Tressel4 03/22/2007
Great in 1-AA, Even better at 1-A
carltoonz 01/05/2007
Best coach of all time!
RainMan12 09/13/2006
Despise the Bucks, but Tressel is a great coach. Always on an even keel with toughness.
lasmo 09/05/2006
Coach Tressel follows in the great Ohio State tradition set by Woody Hayes with dignity and honor. He knows the OSU roots and fits the coaching job to a tee. He may be the best right now in all of college football. He deserves a top rating as a college coach.
mlbkdog 05/28/2006
He has the eye for talent. And gets them.
BOSOX1 01/08/2006
Great coach, he proved to me this year he is for real.
zuchinibut 01/03/2006
Tressel has had good success with Ohio State, and won a 1-AA national championship with Youngstown State before that. However, there has always been a lot of talk about NCAA violations at both schools, and I don't trust that he is doing things the right way. His schools might be proud that he wins games, but they better hope that he doesn't bring down more serious scandals than have already occurred.

OVERRATED AND THE ATTIRE HAS GOT TO GO. WHERE DID HE FIND THOSE SWEATERS AND TIES, SALVATION ARMY.
davidswren 09/12/2005
I've said it since they hired this man. I HATE his coaching style. Big games like OSU vs. TX is no time to play conservative football. Tighten up the defense BEFORE your opponent gets into the red-zone. And for heaven's sake, how about TRYING to convert on a third down every once in a while instead of settling for a field goal! It amazed me that I didn't see ANY long pass plays or any trickery to stir things up during the Texas game. Your team is easy to defend against when all you do is run on 1st and 2nd then short pass on 3rd. And try maotivating your team for once Jim! Walking back to the huddle is unacceptable! Your blood should be boiling during a game like this and you should be ripping off that damn sweater vest and acting like you care whether you win or lose.
ohioredeyes 09/10/2005
Jim Tressel lost the Texas game for us when he took out Smith and put in Zwuck. Zwick goes and fumbles the ball and Texas capitalizes and scores the winning points. QB contraversy here at OSU. I believe Smith should be the one to start and play.
peters 09/10/2005
Tressel has lost it taking out smith that late in the game a inmoble Zwic come on whats wrong this man is slowley becoming the new John Cooper we should dump him before he is up for a new contract.
Justxander 07/11/2005
Jim Tressel has brought in a new era of OSU Football. He has already made a lasting and wonderful impression as one of the great OSU football coaches!
DiegoExplosion 07/11/2005
Awesome coach, but even greater human being.
nra91 07/03/2005
Absolutely amazing! By far the best coach in the nation and will lead OSU to multiple titles in the future. The Clarrett allegations are ridiculous and have already been investigated and proven false. Jim is an excellent team leader and will someday have the most career wins of any coach, mark my words.
jr_3134 03/09/2005
Criminal. Should be fired.
dunaway05 02/22/2005
Terrific Coach wins national championships.
InTresselITrus t 02/15/2005
Jim Tressel is the best football coach alive! He is a great man who has restored The Ohio State Buckeyes to greatness and I have no doubt that all the negative allegations made against him are false! In Tressel I Trust
GIS 02/09/2005
A great recruiter but poor graduation rates and has trouble beating coaches like Ferentz and Paterno who has less talent. Team get by with close wins but with the talent they have should be blowing teams. He won a Title in 2002 but on a bad call. The Clarett NCAA violation case should have put his Program on Probation.
ttags 02/07/2005
1) Close games--those are by design--he has a onservative phiophy that works 2) Bad call in 2002 was preceeded by several that went vs. OSU-it evens out 3)3-1 vs. Mich and 3-1 in Bowl game (2-0 in BCS) 4) His teams play great fundamenatl defense and have excellent special teams--he is top 5 coach for sure.
durk191 01/05/2005
Great record at YSU and OSU. Tough year in 2004 but showed a lot beating Michigan and winning another Bowl. Offense looked Great last 2 games with the spread hope it continue into 2005.
Coach Rod 12/26/2004
Great recruiting I will lower it if he is cheating.
fishforms 12/24/2004
best in the nation
Bluechuck 12/04/2004
As a coach he lives by the skin of his teeth. The real issue here though is if he will be able to get OSU the death penalty by the NCAA. Past is catching up to him from Youngstown and making new memories at OSU. Will get OSU in trouble, period. Unload him while you can.
hooka67 11/13/2004
I'm glad that he is on our side!! Go Bucks!!
bsd987 11/03/2004
Has lost control of a program he only had control of for 2 years anyways. They are not disciplined enough to ever win another title.
Umar Deneb 10/30/2004
He recruits but coaching is suspect.
Kirk Hatch 10/30/2004
Too much trouble on his teams.
Carol Olack 10/26/2004
He has 38 (4&5 Star Recruits and has lost 3 straight at OSU. He cannot berat teams that put up 8 men fronts as the Big Ten is learning. Got a lucky call in the Miami Championship game by a Big-12 Ref upset Miami crushed Nebraska a year earlier. Paterno gives Tressel a good game with less talent, that tells all about him, today.
bil schaap 10/15/2004
A diehard Bucks fan, I am disapointed to see his game so one-sided. Yes, we won a National Championship in 2002, but what have we done since? Teams know exactly what is coming. Too PREDICTABLE!!! Guaranteed a run on 1st down. OPEN UP THE OFFENSE and let the Player win the game!!!!
louiethe20th 10/08/2004
I think Tressel is a very bright man who knows how to win. I feel that if he had been at OSU for that last 10 or 12 years they would have 2 or 3 titles instead of 1.
aaaaaaaabbbvvs dafsd 10/08/2004
Very overrated. He plays down to his opponents and lets inferior teams have a shot. One lucky national title does not make a good coach.
ACCGUY 10/04/2004
His teams are always a play away from losing. With the talent they have or have had they should be blowing teams out sometimes.
goleps 09/23/2004
c'mon folks. he has won 5 National Championships. only one current coach has more (Kehres, Mount Union College, D3, also in ohio). how can he not be considered 5 star?? if he isn't, who is 5 star?? he also has had great postive impact on every region he has ever coached in. just ask the folks of the youngstown area!
AG Mines 09/17/2004
They win more close games than anyone.
Boonta23 09/09/2004
If you see Tressel, he looks like a calculating individual, and he is. He picks apart opposing defenses and exploits them with his offense. His knowledge of the game led OSU to their first championship in a number of years, but the Buckeyes have been an NCAA powerhouse for many years, and that has continued, and will continue because of Tressel.
ethopete 08/02/2004
The same qualities we laud Vince Lombardi for espousing are the same qualities Jim Tressel instills in his teams...toughness, dedication to one another, focus, and pride. Say all you want about how the Bucks almost lose all of their games, the fact is that they are - year in and year out - the toughest team to beat in college football and it is because of Jim Tressel.
rowbeartoe 06/26/2004
more pathetic graduation rates his one good season involved a bunch of near-losses such as against Cincy, who should have beaten the Buckeyes
alpepper 06/22/2004
I admit he is a very good coach. He won at the 1AA and 1A level. But Ohio State: Beneficiary of Phantom flags to rip the title from Miami (although I have no fondness for the HurriGangstas); The Claret fiasco; the Ohio State fans who like to fight and toast cars. I don't know whether to call Ohio State the LUCKEYES or SCHMUCKEYES.
Habanerobuck 06/03/2004
As a Buckeye fan, I would have given former coach Cooper a 2, in comparison, possibly a 1 for game-time coaching. Tressel clearly knows how to win, of that there can be little doubt. However, Craig Krenzel came out after being drafted and stated that he was not entirely happy with the offensive scheme run at OSU (though Krenzel's opinion does not take his abilities into honest consideration, methinks). Needless to say, it will truly be in the years to come that we can evaluate coach Tressel as he is using almost entirely players that he has recruited and coached starting in 2004-2005.
ohiostate 04/15/2004
The best ever to coach in thee NCAA!!!!
h2o 02/18/2004
He is the best in the wold.
scarletwingo 12/22/2003
