What have you done for me lately Ralph? The Fridge made a great impression in his first few years at Maryland, but has followed that up with 2 consecutive seasons without a bowl game. Maryland will have to do a lot of work to raise themselves out of the middle of the pack in the new ACC, and I'm not sold on Fridge being the person to do it.

Gotta love the Fridge! We will protect this HOUSE!

The Fridge rocks! He is a great coach who's having a bad year because his quarterback sucks. Still, he was able to beat FSU with a team that will have a losing season. Speaks to the quality of his coaching ability. Freidge has turned Maryland around quickly and has it poised to be an ACC power as long as he's there. He'll be the Terp coach for sometime unless an NFL team woos him away. Love him in the Underarmor commercials as well. Fear the Turtle !

Back stabbed his boss in the back, but is winning with his talent building a great program at Maryland!

When he gets to have all his own recruits he will simply extend his dominance. Best coach in America.

Before big boy everyone laughed at the turtle, looked down upon the turtle and even may have seen the turtle as a cute shelled creature. Nowadays I drive around town with my FEAR THE TURTLE license plate frame proudly. Simply put: size does matter ladies, and they dont come any larger than Ralph.
NCFAN 06/22/2004
He is the top coach in one thing, WEIGHT. But I like him better than the Terp basketball coach.

Hasn't won with his players yet and is a visible embarrassment to any 'athletic' department employee.

Solid thug leader. Displayed at its best at NC State and Virginia games.

When he has to play his own recruits I think his genuis will evaporate faster than Iraqi oil!

The Fat Guy has revitalized a dormant program, and College Park is now the place to play on the East Coast north of the Sunshine State. He has lapped Penn St., VaTech, UVA, etc. Hail to the Fat Guy!!!

If someone doesnt get Ralph voted ahead of Joe Paterno, the credibility of this survery is going to be irreperably damaged!

OK heres the Fridge's record of accomplishments: Friedgen started at Georgia Tech in 1987, becoming the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the next five seasons, including the 1990 campaign when Tech, unranked in the preseason, captured the national championship with an 11-0-1 record San Diego offensive coordinator in 1994, when the Chargers advanced to Super Bowl XXIX for the first time in franchise history. During his time with the Chargers, Friedgen helped a club that had not made the playoffs in a decade reach postseason play three times in five seasons Offensive coordinator for Bobby Ross at Maryland when the Terps won three consecutive ACC titles in the mid-`80s Winner of the Bobby Dodd coach of the year award Winner of the Frank Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in the country No. 1 nationally in total offense while offensive coordinator at Ga Tech

wait till he gets talent

If I was rating him as a head coach only I would give him 3 1/2-4...but as a football coach I give him 5. One of the great offensive minds of his time who was O coordinatior on a superbowl team and a national championship team. Over the years he has constantly coached his talent to play to full potential and more. His offensive teams put points on the ball and are fun to watch. Brought Maryland back from the dead...something few humans could have done. As a head coach his teams have over achieved each year. Dramatically out coached Tennessee in the Peach Bowl. The Big Guy can flat out coach and he has done it at every level.

Best college football coach in the country. Hands down.
JohnR 06/14/2003
The Fridge took off at Maryland like he was shot out of a cannon. Only a great coach could achieve what he has in only his first two years as a head coach.
terpman 1974 06/14/2003
A brilliant offensive mind and motivator. He has surrounded himself with great coaches, teachers and coordinators. Though never before a head coach, possibly because of his size, he was the Offensive Coord at Maryland under Ross when the Terps won 3 straight ACC titles; the Offensive Coord under Ross at GaTech when they won the national championship and the Offensive Coord under Ross with the San Diego Chargers when they went to the Super Bowl. His record as a winner is undeniable.
daparr 06/14/2003
Best Ever!
Turtleboy 06/13/2003
Best X and O coach in the country. He is an offensive genius that has had every team he is a part of average over 400 yds per game against FSU. The best thing is that his offenses have done it with balance. At Maryland he has taken kids that were after thoughts to the football powerhouses and made them into consistent winners.
bkmalik 06/13/2003
He has done a complete 180 with the MD program and accomplished the truly remarkable, winning the only ACC title not won by FSU since they entered the league. That alone is worth 5 stars
