 | GenghisTheHun (168) 03/18/2007 | You gotta rent this and watch Joan Crawford in this truly kinky film. The Joan--Mercedes McCambridge brawl over the man is a classic. The symbolism in this flick is legion! I hadn't seen this since I was a kid and then it started appearing on cable again. I couldn't remember where I had heard the line, "I never shake hands with a left-handed draw," and there it was! (Sterling Hayden)
I am looking for the DVD.

 | Underspin (24) 03/15/2005 | As others have previously stated, this film's strength lies in its unique, quirky, outside-the box originality. There is simply no other western quite like it, as it stretches the genre in directions it seldom ever ventures. Perhaps this is why the film was/is such a hit in France - there is even a French website dedicated to the film. The AMC channel also broadcasts Johnny Guitar about once or twice a year, and I highly recommend watching it for Peggy Lee's haunting title soundtrack alone. Joan Crawford portrays a pre-feminist-femme-fatale, who if necessary, can trade verbal jabs or bullets with any man or woman who crosses her. Certainly not your typical 1950's fare, which is one more reason to check it out.

 | brownie (2) 09/24/2004 | Oh.., come on people. People, people people. I know I'm gonna misspell their names, but this movie so out there, so weird, so messed up, that it's goooood. Mercedes McCambrige verus Joan Crawford. Ward Bond with his posse all dressed up in black preacher coats. Sterling Heydon as Johnny Guitar. I don't think he knew how to play one, but he has this little student guitar he carries around. And the Kid played by a guy with Brookyln accent, as did alot of actors in westerns, apparently the old west was full of them. Don't it take so seriously. This is a great movie.
