I hate when people think someone else is less credible just because they JOKE or HAVE FUN...SORRY HE ISN'T ASS MISERABLE AS JUDGE JUDY..you can tell he worked HARD 2 be where he is and ENJOYS what he does...so if u dont't like him...u suck.

What some of you may not realize is that the judge Mathis show (only show I can speak of from experience) is semi-scripted. the litigants (contestants) are given specific things to say. The people are real and believe they are going there to have a real court case before a judge but are often railroaded. They choose who they want to win long before the case is in his court room. The whole show is a scam. Meant purely for Entertainment. They should just let the litigants know this ahead of time.

Judge Mathis needs to be de-benched. Not only because he is racist, but because he does not judge fairly from case to case. It is almost as if his mood of the day will dictate the results of the case. I have seen him award the full $5000 when the person deserved nothing, and seen him award $0 (and hell, maybe even a countersuite judgement for the other side) when it clearly was in favor to award.

This man should be taken off the air if he cannot be removed from the bench. It is terrible to know that this kind of ignorance is being propogated on a nationally syndiacated TV program and accepted as "quality" by whomever is in charge of that at CW Corporate.

A fun and entertaining courtroom show. It's a tv show people! If people are dumb enough to go on national television and look like morons it is their own fault. I think the producers select people who are of marginal intelligence, strange looking, or on drugs. It makes for an entertaining program. Relax, have fun, and if you want a real education in the law, go sit in a real courtroom or better yet become a juror.

Mathis is just nother angry Negro who chooses to direct his anger a the race that made it possible, with affirmative actions and freebee education grants, to have been FREE schooled and gone on to have this show. He chooses to turn the blind eye to the fact that his own race sold and still today sell their people into slavery, it's so much easier to live pointing fingers at "Whitey", blaming every aspect of their races failure amongst other "minorities" which have reached heights of respect and achievement in less time, with less help an no one to blame or accept responsibility for their actions but themselves. I just saw another episode of Mathis and I can't believe this judge. He basically condoned violence too on national tv. There was a lady that someone accused her of saying n**ger and threw this woman on the train tracks. She sued for $5,000 and got her money but the lady that accused her of saying the word (who was white) got a counter claim for $5,000 for emotional distress. So basically the lady that was thrown onto the tracks gets nothing. He basically told this nation that if someone calls you names you have the right to try to kill them because that is what it was, attempted murder, Judge Mathis even said it. His decision was soley personal and that is not professional at all. It does not matter what anyone calls you, those are words, you should fight back with the same, words! Not violently, by throwing on train tracks. This was his worst judgment yet. I don't know any other judge in this country who would make that judgment.

I think he is a terrible judge. I was watching this one episode where he said this woman if she was a criminal. AT first she would not admit, then the judge said you and I both have a criminal record, so that's nothing to be ashamed of. Just admit it. He tries to be funny instead of being factual. He keeps interrupting the people and not listening to them at all. His questions are stupid. He is not fit to be a judge in my opinion.

Pretty entertaining. I don't know how much real law takes place but I think it's funny to watch. Mostly the predicaments that people get into carry the show. Some are unbelievable. I don't understand how he comes to his decisions. He's not the best but I don't think he is the worst.

I don't care too much for Mathis. He's entertaining, but rarely ever uses "legal" authority when deciding a case. He is very judgmental and a disgrace to his chair. I don't think he's racist, I just think he's extremely egotistical and I don't like watching him because of it! He's contradictory and doesn't use the same rules twice in his court room. Here's just one example of why I don't like him:
I was watching an episode today where a man allowed his girlfriend/former drug addict to move in - they didn't get a long, they had a fight, he went to jail, he got out and some of his belongings were gone. You could clearly tell the woman was lying and the man was telling the truth...The man had written statements from witness', his neighbors, saying they saw her packing things out of the house after he went to jail. Mathis would not use the statements because the guy didn't have the police talk to the witness' when he made the police report after he had gotten out of jail; therefore Mathies denied judgment in favor of th man on his counterclaim. ---- The very next episode, a woman sued her daughters ex boyfriend for damage to her home and car while they (parents) were out of town. The woman said she left the boy in charge at the homeand had a written statement from a neighbor (same as the guy before)stating the kids were shooting guns, smoking, drinking, etc.. Mathis based his whole judgment on this written statement and awarded the woman $5K because he didn't think the neighbor would have a reason to lie. In this case a police report was also filed by the parents/plaintiffs when they returned from vacation, and guess what... they DID NOT have the police to go speak with the neighbor, but that didn't matter here, although that was the sole reason for denial in the prior case. Furthermore, there were a few incidents where Mathis put words in the womans mouth and also in the boys mouth. ------ The boy said his girlfriends father punched her in the face, so the boy told the father if he did it again, he (the boy) was going to call the police or CPS, Mathis told him "what you really meant is that you were going to deal with the father yourself" - the boy said nothing of the sort. Mathis asked the woman why her neighbor didn't call the police when she seen them shooting guns, the woman said she didn't know.. Mathis then told her "you mean she saw them shooting bb guns, right - that must be why she didn't call the police."... All in all, I disagreed with this judgment as well. The boy had very believable testimony and there were a few times when Mathis caught the parents trying to hide certain things or not being so honest.. But again, this didn't matter. He gave judgment to who wanted to give it to.

This Racist is a disgrace. If you are white and are suing a minority, do not go before this moron you will lose no matter what the facts are. He treats white people like trash.

I will never watch his show again as an abused child by mother. the case where an adult was complaining about his mother beating him at 6 ,and th4e judge not even hearing him and matter of fact stating he probably needed beating by a metal broom. Saw it for the first time today, and I normally don't watch these types of shows (Court TV). WOW, this guy is clearly racist and I believe he doesn't even know it because he follows the classic example that if you are black, you can't be racist.

Comments saying he'd rather all white people change their pigmentation color to be black so evryone would be the same is clear to me where he stands.

A Great TV court judge! He uses good tough love on the irresponsible immature people in his courtroom. Judge Mathis also refers to his troubled childhood (he was arrested and put in jail several times when he was a teenager) when talking to the litigants, especially delinquent teens. Some of the people on his show, especially women, act like little crybabies so they deserve to face some tough justice judge mathis style. The nastiest people on his show are the young white women 18-25 who scammed money from their boyfriends and roommates. he gets on them good! Those evil gold digging and freeloading white girls need to go back to the trailer park where they belong and stop using people for their money.

To be truthfully honest, I just watch Judge Mathis for the laughs I get when he calls everybody crackheads and accuse them of being high. Everybody that comes on his show is either high or drunk in his opinion. I laughed my ass off when this guy was trying to explain his case but was stuttering and stammering and sweating all at the same time. You can tell the guy was nervous but ole' Judge Mathis shouted that he sounded like he was high and asked was he drunk but the dude said he was nervous cause it was his first time in court. Judge Mathis said his famous line well you sound lika drunk!. All in all Judge Mathis is good ole entertainment, nothing more nothing less.

Mathis has managed to make a joke out of the legal system with his unnecessary insertion of political preferences and idiotic humor. As a lawyer, I find watching this show to be offensive to not only the judicial system but as an assault on human intelligence.

How could anyone think that Judge Mathis is a goood judge. He is extremly unrefined and ghetto. It's as if he got his license out of a cracker jack box. The most predictable thing about Judge Mathis is that he's going to belittle women on this show, particularly the white women. I'm an African American woman and even I notice it. The show I just saw was ridiculously biased against the plaintiff. Mathis ridiculed her because the plaintiff went to her mother's house to do laudry. The fact that she stayed two days seemed unbelievable to the judge. The mother, naturally, said the plainiff could have stayed as long as she wanted..she was a single mother with a 5 month old baby. His belitting response was insulting and insentive. The woman appearing before him was clearly a struggling but straight flying woman who's been harrassed by her landlord unfarily. Judege Mathis' macho, marginally racist, and misogynistic point of view prevented him from seeing it. I can't understand why any intellegent person would want to appear before him.

Definitely the cream of the crop of this genre. A sense of humor, a streetwise attitude, and days when he's just had enough and isn't afraid to show it! I tune in just to see what kind of mood he's in!! I've even talked others into jumping onboard. You know how hard it is to get veteran soap watchers to broaden their horizons? But Mathis is definitely worth a spin up the dial!

It's TV people. What makes daytime TV that gets rating? Sex, violence, and DRAMA. He has to be a bit dramatic to get ratings, to get paid. If he wanted to be a normal, everyday, mild-mannered, judge - he wouldn't have a job.

i really like the show. judge mathis is entertaining and of course, wise. there were a couple of female "scamers" he believed. i think all of the court shows should have youthful consultants, maybe from the"hood" or mobile parks, to the judges aware of the mentality out there.
