Moral Court
1
I just finished watching an episode of Moral Court, where an adult son brought his mother to court, because she went and told a church member that her son practiced Wicca, after promising him that she wouldn't mention it to anyone. The church member then went and told others, and her son's personal business eventually was all over the small town they were in. This show did nothing but solidify the intolerance and ignorance toward Non Christian religeons, shared by many Christians today. It was very obvious that the mother, Larry Elder, nor the majority of the studio audience, had a clue of what Wicca, or Witchcraft are really about. We are not devil worshippers, we do not turn people into frogs, or any of the other stereotypes. We are very tolerant of everyones beliefs, be it Pagan or Christian. We do not judge people by their faith or their lifestyle. Modern Christianity in my opinion, is a far cry from the true and original teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus was a man who preached love and tolerance, he would talk to anyone who would listen, whether it be on a mountainside, under a tree, by a pond, or anywhere else. He never asked for payment for spreading the word. Today, it is the exact opposite. You are looked down upon, if you do not attend a church, whether you worship in private or not, if you do attend one, you are asked for money. Now I do understand the need to keep the lights on, but some churches tell you what is "proper" to give, and if you do not give at least that, you are frowned upon. I do know that not every Christian is like this, but the more vocal ones seem to be. If anyone is interested, the book "The Truth about Witchcraft Today" and The Truth About Witchcraft", both by Scott Cunningham, are good places to break many of the false myths and stereotypes about Witchcraft and Wicca. Hopefully some day, people will realize that humans come in all types, shapes, faiths, races and self expressions, and tolerance is a necessary component of survival. If Larry Elder had this case without the element of Wicca, I am sure, he would have ruled that the mother should have lived up to her promise. Her going back on her word, and telling her sons private business, negativly affected her sons life within the family and small town of Ashville, they were in. He let his Christian views cloud his judgement. Larry, you were wrong, and you should give the son(I think his name is Jarrod), $500.00 out of your own pocket!
Blessed Be,
