Browning ACERA 1

Bought the rifle in 2007 . Have Used it for 2 hunting trips , this year while walking across a hay field I stumbled and started to fall . went down on one knee and the rifle hit the ground from 18 to 20" . The stock shatterd like it was made of glass, There must of been stress fractures in the wood. When I called Browning and asked for help -- the customer service said Sorry about that - here is a phone number where you can buy a new replacement stock. I then asked if they would stand behind thier product - thier reply was you broke it - you fix it .
I would not recommend anyone to buy a Browning product -- they will not help you in any way !!!!!! Their service department bites , along with their products and warrenty's . I am forwarding this message to every hunter I know and I hope they do the same - Browning doesn't care about you - only your money
PS
The hayfield was not hard packed nor were they any rocks for the rifle to hit -- just cheap materials and shoddy workmanship and lousy customer concern.
Don't buy BROWNING

Bought this rifle in 2003. It is in 30-06 with the BOSS. This is a good rifle, but has some unique issues. This rifle is as accurate as any I have had, and I haven't even messed with the BOSS yet. I love straight-pull bolts, and the action on this gun is fast, smooth, and natural. The rifle is very light, although a little fuller dimensioned than most, since the one-piece stock wraps around what is essentially the same action as the Browning BAR, BLR, and BPR rifles. Those rifles have two-piece stocks. The trigger is certainly not crisp, but it is not heavy either. It feels similar to many military rifle triggers, mushy. This doesn't really bother me much. Another issue I have noticed is that a handloader needs to make sure his ammo is within spec, I have had some problems with the bolt closing on ammo I have not full-length resized. This has not been a problem with factory ammo. Lastly, I had to have the stock replaced by Browning due to warpage. The repair facility had only seen one of these rifles before mine, which I guess is a a good indication of reliability. They replaced my stock quickly and without charge. All in all, I love this rifle despite a few issues. It is a unique, fun rifle to shoot.

Browning ACERA 4

Just purchased a new Acera and was wondering if anyone is having problems with shells ejecting. At first it was great and now, once in a while it will hold the shell in place and not eject same until you reload the same shell and attempt to eject it several times. The ejector seems to be very loose and can be moved with your finger. I am using 165 grain ballistic tip bullets. Thanks..

Good Rifle with a some problems. First the trigger is one of the worst I have ever owned. Did not think that this was a problem until none of the local gunsmiths could correct the creep and the pull weight. Second, the recoil pad had to go, so that was another $100 for a good pad. Middle of the road accuracy, acceptable for a hunting rifle. Uniqueness is a definate attribute, not many folks seen one, most all like it. Bad rating comes from the problems associated with this priced rifle. Would have a better rating if the cost had been 1/3rd what I paid. I would have expected these deficiencies on a value priced firearm, not a Browning.

Very accurate rifle. Only problem I had is that you are restricted to S.A.A.M.I. overall length of 3.340 in. by both the magazine length and the size of the ejection port. But even with these problems? it shoots great. Accurate, good looking and fast. My remarks areabout the .300 Win Mag chambering.

By far the best rifle that I own, and I own a few from Steyr Mannlicher to Savage.I bought the rifle 2 years ago now, in caliber 30.06. I find there is no time lost repeating the rifle, infact it's almost as fast as the FN Bar series from Browning. It's a great wild boar killer especially on driven hunts using the fibre optic iron sights. The rifle also feels good and is well balanced and it has very little recoil even although 30.06 is renowned for being a kicker. The rifle also looks very good. I have not once regretted buying the rifle. I'd highly recommend it to any one. Dave in Germany.

Absolutely wonderful rifle. It's a shame this model never took off in the US like it did in Europe, but I guess that just makes mine that much more unique. I purchased mine from a local dealer (still new in the box - direct from Browning) in March of 2004. Browning estimates less than 600 of this model currently exist in the US, because it was only imported for one year during 2002. Mine is a 300 Win Mag without the BOSS system, and I have been getting 3/4 groups at 100 yards with factory ammo. The straight pull bolt system is just as fast as a lever action or pump action, yet the accuracy would rival most bolt guns. Great performance, and great looking wood - I couldn't be more pleased!
