 | Shroomwoman (12) 06/21/2001 | "James and the Giant Peach" is a masterpiece. It combines magic, mystery, and fantasy with solid character development and an excellent plot, making it extremely appealing to children and adults alike. Typical of Roald Dahl, the story is empowering to children, and there are many incredibly creative and entertaining characters, including two bizarre aunts and an array of talking arthropods. This is a great read-aloud book for kids in grades one through three, and kids in fourth grade and up can read it on their own. Highly recommended.

 | Spiralingmarce (0) 05/21/2001 | Of course Hollywood tried to ruin this one with a movie. I didn't feel it was one of Dahl's better books when I was younger.

 | callmetootie (4) 04/05/2001 | James and The Giant Peach and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory are 2 of the greatest children's books by Roald Dahl I have ever read in all of my day's of reading. The story was so well written and the movie was pretty cool too.

 | alicat (3) 01/03/2001 | I really didn't read as much as I should have when I was growing up but this is one book that I did read and remember loving. I would actually read a little each night before bed. I just remember imagining what it would be like to be in this Giant Peach with all the insect, bug characters, escaping from the mean aunts. I loved it. I thought is was great. It is the kind of book that lasts throughout time. I am kind of sad that there is a movie because it takes away the element of imagination.

 | Johnny Roulette (3) 01/03/2001 | I remember loving this one when I was in the first grade. It was pure magic(and a bit creepy at times). I could not read James & The Giant Peach enough when I was little. Man, this was a great book!

 | PoorOldEdgarDerby (4) 01/03/2001 | I still have this book somewhere in the house. I must've gotten it when I was about 7 or so and can remember telling family that came to visit about this kid James and his enormous peach as if it was some true miracle of science. This is one I'll keep around for my kids.
