for all of the adversity (back problems, walking on to a poor both financially and talented team, and cancer), Mario is the best hockey player of all time. He did not have the numbers that Gretzkey did, but watch the videos, he had every bit of talent, and i think a lot more. He just had to deal with many unfortunate occurances.

Mario and Gretzky are the two greatest offensive players ever to live. If Mario would not have had cancer, he would have been close to some of The Great Ones records. Too bad he is with a s#&$%# team.

Mario Lemieux is simply awesome! I am and always will be a Penguin fan. I shall never forget the year that they won the Stanley Cup. He was slashed by NY Ranger Adam Graves and had his wrist broken. Mario, the comeback player that he is, made it back it time to celebrate with his teammates. Because Pittsburgh doesn't have the money that other cities do, he bought the team to try and keep it in Pittsburgh. A lot of people would not have done that. So "axlrod2003", you wanted Mario to stay at home? Thank God he didn't! He has been leading the scoring race this year, and has still proven to be the main attraction for Pittsburgh hockey fans. Wayne Gretzky may be to his fans "The Great One", but Mario will always be "Le Magnifique".

He's still leading the league in scoring and is averaging more points per game this season over anyone else by far. There's no disputing his skill, no one has played near as good as him while they were his age, he's jsut simply magnificient.

To all the people who rated mario low...LOOK at his production now 55 points through 29 games...leading the league...at what 37 years old? Gretzky was not even close to that good in his later years.

Mario Lemieux is the best player currently. Take a look at his age, and all his hardships he went through. His dramatic comeback and passion for the game is by far the best in the NHL. No one can see the ice like Mario.

Lemieux has got to be the best player ever to grace the ice. His natural skill and 6'4" 250 lbs body is no match for any opponent. GO MARIO!

One word can describe Super Mario's performance in last night's comeback game...WOW. When he retired a few years ago, he left as the best player in the game. Now, he returns at close to the same level and pushes the Penguins into a Stanley Cup contender. More importantly, he brings excitement to the NHL. Until yesterday, I hadn't watched a hockey game since the Devils won the Stanley Cup last year. Yet, I left work early to make sure that I was home to catch Mario's return. Welcome back, Mario.
