Scenery was beautiful. The park facilities are OK but need updating.

Excellent park, breathtaking views, but getting there is difficult. And staying there is even more difficult. Too many people!

Fantastically beautiful; to see the view from the top of Lambert Dome, go to www.angelfire.com/film/ucsb1990 and follow the links

What I could see provided first class views of really awesome scenics. However, don't arrive late in the day on a schedule. You will not be able to see the interior much because you will miss the shuttle schedule which closes early and if you are not staying in the park you miss part of it, some say the best part. For this reason it gets only a 4.

An utterly breathtaking place on Earth. This natural wonder must be seen to be believed, from the majestic mountains, to the awesome geologic formations, to the amazing forests and redwoods. I recommend early Spring as a great time to visit, while the waters are flowing strong and the crowds haven't all yet converged.

I have only been to Yosemite twice but I plan on visiting again and again as long as I live in Northern California. The valley is breath taking, unlike anywhere I have ever been. I have also hiked in the back country and found it beautiful and peaceful. There is so much to see in Yosemite that one trip will not do it. My goal is to see it in every season, for it changes drastrically, becoming a new wonderland with each visit.

I have a sad sad story about my trip to Yosemite. I had been really looking forward to going to Yosemite for a long time. I had the trip planned out. Car camp the first night, hike the next day to campout up near this little water hole then hike back the next day. The camping trip was ruined by the 8 hours of traffic (it usually or should have taken only 4 hours to get there), when we got over that first hump, set up camp, and ate our dinner...we were in the tent, on the verge of sleep when I heard footsteps. No not footsteps, BEAR steps. The campground was visited by two bears. They went through our neighbors camp and tore it apart. Needless to say we tried to sleep in the car (that didn't work well) while the whole night people were screaming "Go away Bear." The next morning, totally exhausted, we decided to just go on a small hike, swim in the lake, and go home. It was so sad.

I can't believe I lived in San Francisco for over a year before visiting Yosemite. People fly in from all over the world to see this place, and there I was, only a three-hour drive away, lazy and ignorant. I'm so glad I finally made the trip. Yosemite has some of the most amazing rock formations I've ever seem. The views from the valley are spectacular - huge sheer rock faces shooting up all around you, a long, lazy mountain stream, and some of the highest waterfalls in the world. The downside is that Yosemite is one of the most heavily trafficked national parks, so it pays to go in the off-season, or at least avoid the weekends if you have to be there in the summer. I went in October, and the crowds were very manageable. I camped in the valley one night and up on the edge one night, and enjoyed both places, although spending some time in the valley is a must. The hike that takes you to Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls is excellent.
