"Jack Benny made his television debut after a long career in vaudeville, television and film. During his radio series (1932-1955) he cultivated the traits that his television character would have as well--Jack's character was a vain, stingy character who always claimed to be age 39." - TVTome.com (Add picture)

A classic t.v. show. A bit slow paced for todays' audience but the humour was always self-depricating. Not mean-spirited ever. Great cast and well written.

Jack Benny was really funny. He played comedy that was understated and full of running gags. He was stingy, age 39, had a basement full of money, drove an ancient Maxwell and others. Rochester, his Butler, was a great part in the series always putting Jack down. Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny, was on the show and did a lot of sounds on the radio version. Something was always leaving for Anaheim, Azuza and Cucamonga, another running gag.

Jack's sense of comic timing was a marvel. The show remains a delight to this day. Pick up some DVDs and experience Jack Benny's comic genius. There's no one like him today, and I often put this show on for some wonderful entertainment.

Jack Benny was the greatest comedian of all time (just an opinion, I know). And he surrounded himself with an outstanding cast: Dennis Day, Eddie Anderson, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Don Wilson, Frank Nelson (yesssss???). He was a very generous man, who handed all the funny lines to his cast. His radio program was even better than the one on television.

I cannot stand most shows from this era, but Jack Benny was extremely funny. He actually had the confidence and generosity to play the straight man most of the time, although he could get a laugh using just his eyebrows. This was so much better than almost anything I've seen from that decade, so not everybody back then was as lame as they seem.

Remember my grandfather watching that and it was usually funny. He and Gracie did a good job and their guest stars were fun too. Now I'll say goodnight.

Jack Benny was great, he always said he was 39. I also loved how he was also always with his violen. He made a few guest appearances on the Burns & Allen show. I loves his humor. I wish they had humor like his & all the other oldies not not all this crap humor.
