I have had a vasectomy (about 1 month ago) and i don't think i'd recommend it for everyone. My orgasm sensation has changed. Normally you get a 'balls emptying' feeling during orgasm which is pleasurable. However this sensation is now gone. I do get the involuntary muscle spasms of orgasm but I do miss the 'balls emptying'' feeling. I don't know if i'd recommend vasectomy to anyone who really enjoys sex. None of this was explained to me by the doctors -- a case of hear no evil see no evil. Ask your surgeon if he has had a vasectomy (mine hadn't).
Whether the benefits outweigh the cons is hard to tell at this point in time. I think there's a market out there for a better male contraceptive, vasectomy is from 100 years ago.

After my forth kid, my wife told me she'd had enough and that since she had them, I had to prevent them.  This is what I did, and so far, it's been successful.

There seem to be some long term negative health benefits to a vasectomy including chronic pain (cvps) in around 10-15% of those "sterilized" and immunological problems which result from your immune system now having to battle your reproductive system (which is producing 50k sperm per minute). This is great for couples who either do not want or are finished having children. it is less expensive and a little less invasive than the woman having her tubes tied. I know several men who have had this done and not a single one regrets it. Pain and healing time were minimal and the rewards were well worth it!

Have developed a arthritic condition in whole body which may be related, if research is correct. If your wife wants this permanent type of conception, let her go for a ligation. Her functioning is less complex than the males, even if the operation is more invasive!Medicos and feminists present this as safe and simple - it is not always the case.

Well I figure women go through so much, with periods every month for about 40 years of there life then childbirth then taking birthcontrol pills, patch etc. I feel that most men are unsympathetic to those facts. Then they expect the wife to have the tubal TOO! I really wanted to get off of the pill, after having been on it for almost 17 years (water retention,nausea,spots on my face, that extra ten pounds). But there was no way in hell my husband was going to have the vasectomy, so I gave in and had my tubes tide about three years ago. I have had terrible cramping every month, more spotting in between and for the last six months or so two periods a month w/ spotting here and there. When they tied my tubes they took out a tiny section, cauterized each end and when I was coming out of it they could'nt seem to get my heart rate up, it took three hours to bring it back to normal. Good times. But anyway, yesterday Iwent to get some x-rays for lower back pain that I have never experienced in my life, except when I had back labor. So the tech says; mmm, do you have any metal in your panties and he showed me what looks like some sort of saftey pin or clamps just floating there. Were they suposed to left there?

Yep- it's basically permanent (depending on the type you get). I went to the Doc with my fiancee for this one, it was over fast. He had very mild discomfort and basically acted like I do on my period, ibuprofen and whiskey for 3 days. It is fantastic just to have a great worry & hassle free sex life!! I do like the type they do where they not only snip, but remove about 3/4 inch of vas from each side then cauterize the ends. Pretty much rules out the chance of re-connection.

Causes less stress than an unplanned pregnancy (although I'm not I man, so I don't get the sensitivities men have with their packages). Suitable for married, permanent relationships.

It's easier to reverse than the womans procedure and requires far less healing time. The best choice if a couple doesn't want more children.

Like tubal ligation,only if he's POSITIVE he never wants to have kids,or any more kids...

Sounds very painful. Not a very good decision, my dad had one and he had to ice down his package for a weak.

Women if you are considering having a tubaligation, please find out about a vasectomy also it is an out-patient procedure that is alot easier on a man than that tubaligation will be on you. Some womens tube heal themselves and there is great risk of ectopic pregnacy and endometriosis with this procedure.

I’ve known several couples who used this method of permanent birth control after they had finished having the amount of children they desired. I think it is a wonderful method as it is done as an outpatient thus the recovery time is very short. They simply snip and often cauterizes the tube that delivers the “bullets” as castle bee so wonderfully put it. The man this returns home and usually after a few days is back to his normal self, only he can’t impregnate anyone. This method is also wonderful if for some reason the female of the couple would be put at high risk for complications during the form of female sterilization. While this is considered a permanent method of birth control, I have heard of a few cases that have been reversed at a latter date and the men become fertile again and produce more offspring.

This is the male equivalent of the tubal, and only appropriate when a man and his partner are absolutely certain it's the proper time for it. One must be totally sure about one's conviction in opting for this approach, because the reveral operation, if necessary, often is not effective.

Guys, if you know you don't want any more kids, don't be scared of this. It's simpler than you think. You still have to use a condom up until 6 months later (and longer to prevent STDs), but this method is more reliable for stopping unwanted pregnancies than just a condom.

A bit silly, if you ask me...it may be highly effective, it may be sterilization, but it's too expensive, too risky (some things can go seriously wrong in such procedures) and a little extreme if all you want to do is get up to something with your steady.

I have had one and other than a small stick when they first start, it does not hurt at all. I went waterskiing afterwards. I know not all guys are the same but this was my experience. It was 21 years ago and thank God my marrige lasted. I would not suggest it to anyone that does not think thier marrige is going to work though. Who knows you may want to have another child with another woman if first marrige did not work.But we made it and i was 18 and my wife 17 when we got married," and we did not have to!!" It has been 25 years now and counting, is that beating today's odds or not??

Effective, yes, but I wouldn't ask my man to do that. That would be purely up to him. If he wants to, though, then I guess it'd be a good form of birth control. Effective, at least.

This is a very extreme and final method of birth control. If you absoulutely don't want to have kids ever then this is the right thing for you. I am not ready for kids yet, but I would not go to this extreme method of birth control.
