This is when this show got cheesy. Ooh if I wear a chicken suit or a weird dress I will be on t.v. wow! This is also the season when Simon and Paula started having their fake t.v. arguments.
Neo17_2005 08/21/2005
I strongly do not want to see Gay Aiken and Ruben Butthead everywhere on anything entertainment-related. Their music should be banned from the airwaves. The people who watched this show are plain stupid. All you people think Simon is funny, should get a life. He and Randy should all be banned from television. End this series now!
James76255 06/18/2005
It's the season that got me watching the show. I thought anyone from the top three deserved to win. My only real problem then is the same problem I have now: I don't like the voting system. They should allow one vote per person so it's more about the talent than about speed dial.
Lost48 04/06/2005
Great show, but clay should've won...
kattwoman 04/02/2005
loved it . both ruben and clay are adorable and lovable and talented
americanidle 02/28/2005
why would you want to watch glorified karyoke. I would much rather eat my vomit.
Maomania 02/27/2005
Much better than season 1. They had 5 great singers and all of them made it to the final 5. I was very happy about that. Ruben is the American Idol but I was rooting for Clay Aiken.
semon 02/26/2005
best season eva !
Mooselover 01/30/2005
If I didn't like American Idol 1 how on earth could I like American Idol 2.
ClassicTVFan47 11/30/2004
Inoffensive, but again, reality shows aren't my thing.
Mr Evangel 09/27/2004
The show it's self is Awsome. However Clay should have one.
MariusQelDroma 07/26/2004
Clay should have won! Recount the hanging chads!
ta2dwolf 07/22/2004

I love All of the American Idol seasons
Rufieo30us 02/24/2004
This is the first american Idol I had watched straight through. The first american Idol I only saw parts of, but this was however by far the better of the first and the third. Clay Aiken should have won but it was the people all around the usa who wanted to voiced their opion and that is quite a phenonemon thing. I thing it is the best way and the most easiet way to help get your singing career to a great fantastic start.
aphillygirl 02/16/2004
I would have said great but the final vote was fixed which bummed me out

OK. I have to tell the truth, Carmen Rasmusen was my favorite American Idol. But now that i go back a listen to her, she is not all that great. She should probbally just stick with yodeling. But my present favorite would have to be Trenyce. She out beats everyone by far! I mean look at her song that she performed by Whitney Houston I Have Nothing she sounded just like her. But back to the others. Venessa Olivarez- She should have gotten at least forth maybe fifth, But no what America saw in her was another Nikki McKibben or Kelly Osbourne. She is way better than those two wannabe's. Charles Grigsby- What else can i say? He cant sing! No Talent. He is like last years E.J. Day or whatever his name is. Julia Dematto- Shes alright she shuld have gotten, maybe 7th, not really any talent there. Corey Clark- SO dum with no talent.Rickey Smith- Herculees Hurculees! ahh i love it. Kimberly Caldwell- Get over the camera we are interested in other American Idols. Not you!(typical cheerleader) Carmen Rasmusen- What happened? You shuld have gotten fifth at least. I love you. Trenyce- What the crap? You are my American Idol, You should have won. Shoo Ruben. Josh Gracin- You were just the ladies eye candy you cant sing! Kim. Locke- Now you can sing keep rollin. CLay Aiken. Your alright. i Hate ur face motions. Roben Studdard -you should not have won, we all no why you won. your nothing special at stardom. SO basically there is my take on the AI2 show. Aand actually i believe FRENCHIE should have won. THEY were jsut scarred pof her talent. THey also no that if she was in the show, she would have won and there would have been no competion. BUt yea bye

CLAY SHOULD HAVE WON!!
#1sailormoonfa n 09/02/2003
this was a great reality show, better than the first one.i like watching the people sing and i luv the funny comments simon makes! i think kimberley locke should have least made 2nd place...clay stinks...
kolby1973 09/01/2003
Almost as bad as the first one. I found it to be totally ridiculous that they threw some of the contestants off the show because of PAST problems. That was ridiculous. I think ALOT of American stars out there today have had rough and rocky histories, and we don't boo them off the stage for it do we? Well not very many anyways. And I dont think Simon Caldwell even knows what talent is. He is just being a jerk on purpose. That is very obvious. And spare me with Paula Abdul. Can you say 'has been'? And don't get me started on the nasty Randy Jackson. *eye roll*
LadyShark4534 08/31/2003
How stupid this show is. The person who should have won was Frenchie Davis, but noooooo, They threw her off. How stupid can they be? Throwing away a classic package of talent like Ms. Davis? The judges do not recognize talent, They recognize LOOKS and WHO THE FANS WANT! And I don't care what you say, Clay and Ruben WERE never bad-looking in the first place. Clay and Ruben were the most popular with the girls so they became the favorite. But because Frenchie wasn't the Traditional Thin Norman Rockwell Poster Girl and had a few flaws, They threw her off! I'm sorry, but they lost my vote once they did that. F*ck American Idol and F*ck Simon Cowell!

It's so sad,so depressing, but it seems that the "music" business has reached a new low.

First off, re: the TV show, I was gratified to see that America chose singers over eye candy. Hope the recording industry was paying attention. Next, I took my 12-year-old, Clay-obsessed daughter to the Idol Live show in Philly on Sunday. My comments on performers, worst to best: Carmen - Enjoy the ride, save your money, go to college and get a good job 'cause you ain't gonna make it as a singer. Kim C. – won’t make it as a singer, but will be a celebrity because of her insatiable desire to be on camera. Charles – Very lively on stage and the best dancer in the group, but his voice just isn’t strong enough. Julia – Really a good singer when not under pressure. Did very well at the show. Ruben – Yeah, the guy can sing, but he phoned it in through most of the show I saw. He also lacks the versatility a major star should have. Sorry, Rube fans. Ricky – For me, the surprise of the show. He always came off as a goofball on TV. His performance on Sunday was controlled and versatile. This guy has a legitimate shot of making it. Trenyce – As always, an outstanding singer. This girl is the new Whitney Houston. That’s good ‘cause the old one is getting pretty burned out. Kim L. and Clay pretty much tied for the top spot in my mind. Both are sensational singers with amazing power and control. (Yeah, Clay can be a bit too dramatic for my taste, but the young girls seem to eat it up.) Each owns the stage when performing. With decent management and a lack of stupidity, both should be major stars

i am a total American Idol addict. the first season was a little bit better but the second was still fabomenal. Clay SHOULDVE beat ruben but hey- now he's platinum and Ruben's gold so we know who the real winner is. oh and by the way- I WANTED JOSH TO WIN ORIGINALLY! hes a good singer hes cute and hes a Marine. Josh shouldve won, Clay shouldve came in second and Carmen shouldve came in third. Carmen was awesome.
donald Patrick 07/21/2003
this is pure unadulterated crap....no talent exhibitionism meant for an 11 year old mind,,,mindless papp

american idol 2 was better than the first one
BEBEBLOO 06/28/2003
Clay should have won it!

I already rated American Idol. Why should I bother to give the same piece of crap a new label?
actress12345 06/22/2003
ever since clay didn't win i was upset but thinks to this hes the true winner
JorganVonSting le 06/20/2003
This show is the bomb-diggity! The absolute best! Now that's it's over, I can't believe Ruben won! Clay is the best! If Ruben and Clay were in American Idol 1, they would dominate! Clay should have won, but we now he's the best since he sold 393,000 records and Ruben sold 284,000! Ruben sucks! Go Clay, take it from Jorgan von Stingle!
Mikala 06/19/2003
Even though it is almost the same as karaoke I still think the people on the show were very taleted but sometimes I thought I could have done alot better than some of the contestants had. Then there were the people who were just bad. Whatever they were thinking when they thought about even trying out for this kind of thing. Its just the reality tv thing. Some people think its their spotlight.
jcrans 06/10/2003
The difference between A.I.#1 and A.I.#2 is talent!!! Big difference. If you listen to Kelly Clarkson it is a wonder she won at all. If she was the best to pick from on last years show then the talent wasn't worth a crap!!! This year the best singer was Clay! Yes, he is a little goofy looking, but quite humble and able to take the constructive criticism, but can sing his tail off! He couldn't hit a wrong note if he tried! He has a big future in the industry. Oh! By the way! Simon Rules!!!!!
Diggity911 06/09/2003
Nothing but a popularity contest at a karokee bar, I have flushed better talent
suzukiman 06/07/2003
Awesome talent on this show, but the voting is rigged worse than proffesional wrestling.
pattys624 05/29/2003
I wasn't a huge fan of the first season, nor am I a huge fan of the winner from last season. However, I'm absolutely in love with everyone in the final three, and I'm so sad that American Idol is over! Can't wait for #2.
KoRnChild70 05/28/2003
This is one of those shows...what do they call them...a reality show. Ah...let's all watch TV for a slice of "reality". WHY WOULD YOU WATCH TV FOR REALITY? Good things for TV: zombies, dragons, violence, sex, and swords. I'm not saying that watching something that is real really sucks...its just that nobody cares about some piss poor singers who couldn't make it on their own and never will. Sure, the one they pick is really good, but they would never get anywhere without some stupid show that sucks. Why can't they make it on their own? Think anyone cares to watch this cra*? I sure don't. End all the reality shows...they make me want to puke.
Erik Hendriksen 05/27/2003
i belive that this american idol is better then the originol. The singers where just phonominal and i loved to watch them perform. If Rubin and Clay went up against Justin and Kelly from Last years compotition, Justin and Kelly would have been eliminated before the first show.
elletnahc4 05/27/2003
Clay is the best! How could Ruben have won? He was a good singer but unlike Clay he sung with no emotion at all! Clay sang with feelings and he sounded fantastic! Ruben just sang the song and added nothing special. I think people only liked Ruben because of his looks. He had no talent! Clay was clearly the more talented one! Clay should have won and just so you all know--CLAY IS NOT GAY!
brookeg 05/25/2003
I thought American Idol was good this year. There was alot of talent. However, I am not satisfied with the results. I honestly think that Clay Aiken was the best singer amongst the ten of them. Yes Ruben was good, however he did not have the vocal range that Clay had. Also, Ruben stuck to the same type of song all the way through the competition and sounded the same in each rendition. Clay's version of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" was amazing and gave me the chills. I also heard that Simon wanted Ruben to win because he could market him better. Which is wrong, if its true. Simon is the very one who preaches "vote for the talent." I guess it's not a surprise that he's more worried about the money. So why did he say that this competition was about image vs. talent and talent won. Image won, Simon. Anyway, thats how I feel. Clay Aiken is the true American Idol; and I wish nothing but success and fame for him.
thearmbarkid 05/11/2003
God this show sucks Donkeys. American Idol is bubble gum for the masses, and an insult to the intelligence of any TV viewer with an IQ higher than 50. I am absolutely awestruck that anyone would be dumb enough to buy into this pre-packaged "reality," but then again, this *is* the nation that is full of people retarded enough to pay $9/seat to see "Lizzie McGuire" and the "X-Men" sequel.
reeny 05/09/2003
The first one was a waste of air time and so is this one.
RebelYell1861 05/09/2003
The only American Idol program worth watching was that thing they showed a while back that had the worst try outs. Now that's entertainment.
mst3k4evr 05/09/2003
I watched almost every episode last season and only watched the second installment on and off until just last week, when I finally watched the whole show. What I don't like about this season is that they have the singers singing behind cheesy backgrounds like clouds and the like. Also, I might be the only one thinking this, but I think that if you are either married and/or have kids(like Josh and Nikki), you should be automatically disqualified. When I think of the typical "American Idol", I do not think of someone that has a child. Speaking of Josh, I can't believe that he is still in this competition. I believe that people are only voting for him because he is a Marine. And he's a cocky Marine at that, making those snide comments about Simon and drag queens, like he did this week. I personally don't think it's wise to smart off to the guy that will be responsible for getting your CD out to the public if you win. Other than those complaints, I will still watch the show and enjoy it as much as I can.
callmetootie 05/09/2003
The first American Idol had quite a few talented performers, and the judges were fantastic. The hosts were electric and everything seemed right. This time around however, it's not all grand. In fact, things are a bit dreary. Something must've occured between the time that AI Part 1 went off the air and the finalists for Part 2 were chosen that something wrong happened. Ryan Seacrest cannot host the show alone. He is weak and corny. Whatever the producers feed him is straight out of cheesy 70's variety programs. The judges are the same, and are fun to watch, but it's getting a bit thin. Simon's comments are occasionally slick and witty, and not as often, and Paula is too nice. Randy is everyone's favorite "dawg", but I personally would like to throw a tomato at him. But how are the contestants? Vanessa Oliveraz: Superb stage presence, ala Bette Midler, but her voice wasn't strong enough, and personality a turn-off. Charles Grigsby, Julia DeMato, Kimberly Caldwell, and Josh Gracin: :-( Ugh...bad everything. Treynce, Carmen Rasmussen, Clay Aiken and Rickey Smith: Good, but not great. Kimberley Locke and Ruben Studdard: THE BEST!!!
elaineburton 05/06/2003
this is the best show going. why can't we see how many each contestant gets after the show is done voting?
