Portugal has been undoubtedly the most entertaining team in World Cup 2006. A far cry from the defence-mindset of a lot of European teams - prime being France. We need to understand that all major soccer stars get preferential treatment. In the case of Luis Figo, somehow, i feel that since Portugal did not win either the European or qualify in prior (to 2002) World Cups, even the umpires at times, seemed to ignore the credentials of this most able soccer player. i distinctly recall a handball call raised by Figo against a French defender went abegging - it would have seen Portugal score from the penalty. Figo has seemed to be an unassuming International star and he certainly deserved a World Cup title. Scolari deserved one for moulding Portugal into an attacking unit like Portugal. Next time, they should consider award points for playing entertaining football and consider that in the overall scheme when awarding the World Cup title. i sure hope Figo comes out of retirement again and guides Portugal to European success and World Cup success. Remember, Roger Milla from Cameroon made his World Cup debut at 37 in the 1990 World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo & Maniche will groom very well if Figo continues till the next World Cup.

2006 was the last year he played for Portuguese Soccer Team... Athough Portugal won the forth place in the FIFA World Cup in Germany, I think this country deserved a better classification... I really thing Portugal was one of the best teams in this competition... with one of the best soccer... Congratulations!

he is the key player of the portuguese team, but he isn't that good. He tends to play for himself and not as a part of the team. That's also why Portugal won't win the European Championships 2004 in Portugal.
