In the middle of nowhere with a disinterested population.Might as well have built a Polo Field at McMurdo Station...

This was the right facility in the right place at the right time. After it's 1998 upgrade, it stands toe to toe with the other MLB ballparks. I've been to many games there (I'm from Louisiana), and have always enjoyed it. Of course, a roofed ballpark is not ideal, but the weather in Florida is not ideal (often raining). This ballpark brought the (Devil) Rays to the Tampa Bay area. Every time I go, I notice more and more improvements. The only impediment to "atmosphere" was the woeful performance of the team for the first ten seasons. Once the club got hot, the place was full of atmosphere. The prices are good, the food offerings are excellent, it's easy to park there, and the seating is good, except for some obstructed seats way up; those are usually roped off anyway. Well, I go to have a good time and watch exciting American League baseball, so it's perfect for me. By the way, I've been to all 30 MLB ballparks, so I'm able to make an adequate comparison.Go to this park.RJT

Not the worst park ever, not as bad as The Twins' park, but not very good. Looks like when they were about to start on the roof they said, "Fuck the architect. Let's watch what this spider does when we give it some LSD and copy that."

You're in Tampa, where thousands of people flock on their vacations. So you build an indoor Baseball Stadium.

the only good thing about this stadium is that all the seating is good but there isnt enough seats and it is a horible stadium they really need a new one but they might not have enough money to maybe in a few years

Just bad. My buddy caught a ball there that should have been mine but I couldn't drop the beer. That made it worse. Just can't think of anything nice to say.

Devil Rays please get a new stadium soon!!!!!! I hate this dark, dull, ugly dump more than any stadium I've ever seen. I know it's tropical and they frequently get rain, but it's Tampa and they're playing indoors! Get a nice new stadium with a retractable roof!

Hard to believe this was designed for baseball but it was. Who ever designed this place probably isn't real successful right now if people really study this place. It's unique and it's interesting. But the baseball atmosphere that is Americana is non-existent in this big building.

This place is good for shopping, but what does that have to do with baseball? They screwed up big time with this place because it doesn't attract fans. It might attract 2 or three teenage girls once a year, but you won't get fans in that pit. When was the last time this place was sold out?

This place is HORRIBLE!!! It looks like someone's basement. They can add all of the features they want, it's still a bad dome. Baseball in Tampa was doomed from the very start.

I was there over the weekend (5/30-6/1) and I attended 2 games there. First of all they were playing the World Champs the Anaheim Angels and there were 8,000 people on hand on, and about half the fans were senior citizens on a Friday night. Second, the weather was 92 degrees both days and they play in a dome which is all concrete and inside the stadium there is no kind of baseball atomosphere. I have been to quite a few stadiums and I have been to The Vet and to Montreal Olympic Stadium but Tropicanca Field is the worst to date and I think the worst in baseball. Good Luck Devil Rays Fans!!!!!

The stadium's interior just seems cluttered, crowded, and just to small. If they ever make it to the post season they won't be able to hold the people. The stadium seating, although, is excellent. I sat in the upperdeck and it was just as good as the first section.

The roof is an obstruction .. How did baseball allow this thing

best older dome

They do what they can here to decorate the place, and the new imitation grass field looks and plays better than any other artificial turf, but it still reminds me of a mini-Kingdome. Too much grey concrete and that low ceiling don't make for a good baseball atmosphere.

Good for Roller Derby, not baseball!
