Agua Caliente Handicap 3

This race is now defunct, but during its era it was one of the premier races in the calendar.

From 1917 to 1938, it was won by horses like Sir Gallant, Phar Lap, and Seabuscuit. A decision by the Mexican authorities to outlaw gambling killed the race, and by the time the decision was reversed Santa Anita had pretty much stolen the thunder of the track. The race was last run in 1958.
