Drinking in excess pisses me off, not because its a sin or anything, its when people I'm around get drunk and do stupid crap that they usually regret later like hitting on girls at a party when they arent single, getting violent and getting into fights or damaging propert (had these happen before) or the all time favorite, getting sloshed and then driving. Its reckless, immature and irresponsible. People that get trashed and do stupid sh*t like this and then come to you the next day saying "haha that party was so awesome i got so wasted..." really tick me off. I got drunk a couple times, then stopped after I not only puked and got some up my nose, but had to break up a fight on my property in which my friends were pie-eyed, got angry at something stupid and trashed my garage then tried to fight a innocent bystander. Thats when I realized that getting drunk and losing control isn't the way I want to spend my nights, and its gotta be twice as bad for girls (heard alot of stories involving drunk girls and if I was there the stories would have involved my fist in someone's face) seriously taking advantage of drunk girls is deplorable.

I believe that theres nothing wrong with having a few drinks, but know your limits and dont cross them. People get stupid when they're drunk, its a documented fact; and its not fun being around people that lose control of themselves and either get violent (emotions and booze dont mix and make for an angry drunk) or get reckless and get behind the wheel, or just plain do something infantile like throwing up or pissing themselves. Please, drink responsibly dammit.

First of all, what you do with your liver is your prerogative. Just don't go driving, or becoming violent. Then I have a problem. Sometimes there is an underlying reason someone drinks to excess. I don't drink. The reason: it makes me depressed and wrecks havoc on my senses. And I don't like the out-of-control feeling. I've seen my sister keel over in the shower, vomiting up bile after hanging it on. That's not attractive.

I have learned my lesson although from time to time I will screw up and lush out like a fool. Most of the time though Im disciplined enough to just have about 3-4 beers a setting twice a week.

One of my favorite pastimes, 20 pints of Guinness and half a bottle of Paddy's Irish whiskey, don't class this as a bad habit since I only do 04 times a week..........

i, myself don't see the problem in having the occasional drink. I do see the problem in drinking each and every day until you do die from all the complications that alcholism can cause. Today i attended the funeral of a family member who died of alcholism and to me it was not at all glamourous and not in the least humurous. It is sad to know that this member of our family was only a mere age of 46 and is leaving behind a 10 year old son and his wife. So to me I do not see the point in day to day drinking or in refusing help even if you feel it is too late. The fun of drinking is your choice but you should also be aware of what your consequences and what impact you are making on other loved ones lives. michellerv@earthlink.net

Drinking in excess has always bothered me.{my husband too} I feel uncomfortable around someone who drinks beyond what they should have. As Castlebee pointed out they act different such as thinking they are funny, sexy, etc when they are not. most people who get drunk are obnoxious and loud. and dangerous! How many get behind the wheel of a car and ruin others lives because of it? I do not mind if someone has a beer or drink as long as they do not keep on going until they are drunk.Drinking in excess can ruin families too. I have never understood what the fun is in drinking too much.

As a minister, I am seeing more and more how much trouble alcohol causes in people's lives. It's not just about highway accidents. When I study the lives of people who mistreat others (including those who are disrespectful toward me and my family), it's amazing how often alcohol plays a part in it. It isn't just the ugly behaving person who is drinking. He might be a teetotaler. Often, the aberrant behavior comes from a person whose parent was alcholic, or whose husband or wife is. I could write a book about it just from my own experiences with these people. I've never once sampled any of the stuff, but I have suffered from its effects just because of what it does to so many of my acquaintances.

Here's hoping for the Neo-Prohibition in a United States near you! Drinking, like the jaw-droppingly stupid habit of smoking, is idiotic and destructive! It impairs your senses to the great world around you, which doesn't make sense as to why people would want to do that. It also causes a danger if you are around ANYONE. It makes you act stupid and lowers your self-control and disipline to make you act even more stupid that you were when you chose to drink in excess. I can't wait until Beer plants are converted into Homeless shelters, free apartment complexes and soft drink factories (Also, they could become Spacedocks and Pokemon Centers, that's fine too. :))

OK, I admit I have laughed at drunk people several times when I've been out. They have given me some good laughs. Anyways, I personally do not drink in excess. I never let anyone convince me to have more drinks when I know I will be drunk if I do. Then I know I would get laughed at when someone tells me the next day what I did that night and wasn't aware of it. I just don't like the idea of not knowing what I was doing. Of course, it is common among other girls. Then they become known as a slut or any word of the like. You know how the story goes.

There is nothing wrong with this as long as it is only on occassion, and you are doing it with people that care for you. Especially during your birthday, etc....

As with the majority of habits,it's only bad when you don't know how to handle it.Drinking and driving is a bad thing.Drinking during the workweek is a bad thing. And,be sure to pay attention to whether you are a good drunk or a bad drunk,a good drunk takes a light hearted approach to stressful issues while intoxicated,a bad drunk goes home and beats thier kids.I urge all that drink to be a good drunk.

Oh, come on, when you're drunk, you're not bombed, you're just liberating your liver... In all seriousness, this is a very bad habit, that, like smoking, is slow suicide.

Done it on numerous occasions, usually feeling awful the next day, a bad combination of physical pain and guilt. Don't do it now for religious reasons along with taking care of twin babies, but I'm not going to stop anyone who wants to. I belive a lot of people do this becaus they are trying to self-medicate and need to see a professional. other people like college students do it because as the Cranberries said, everybody else is doing it, so why can't we? A stupid but powerfully persuasive reason to get out of hand.

I can't believe SOMEBODY suggested going ahead and drinking yourself silly until you die! Yeah, like a firm, well exercised body means anything when you have a swollen abdomen from liver cancer... I hope nobody is stupid enough to think that it's OK to drink every night until you're woozy and "right with the world"- It's an escape method that will surely kill you.

I personally don't drink alcohol, never have in my life, never plan on it (I've noticed that my family does not take alcohol very well, and I don't want to end up like that. I'm not trying to be a prude, I'm not telling other people not to drink, it's not my problem, I still hang out with people while they're drinking, but it's REALLY annoying to be constantly pressured to drink when I've already established my reasons to not drink. If you've got any friends that don't drink, as long as they're not preaching to you, then please don't harass them--they've probably got a good reason not to drink.) That being said, I think there's a time and a place, and as long as you keep your behavior in check, it's not that big of a problem. If you're out, have someone along who's not going to drink to do the driving. At a party, have someone around who'll make sure that you're not embalming yourself to death. If you or your friends puke, clean it up--drunk people playing Slip 'n' Slide down the hall on vomit probably isn't a good choice for a party game. If you wake up next to something that resembles a wildebeest in the morning, then it's really your own fault. If you blow your whole paycheck on one night at the bar, not a lot of people are going to loan you money, you gotta deal with that. Drinking to excess may be fun for a while, but deal with the consequences, and don't endanger other people's safety.

I don't care if people drink, but I know people who go out every single night and get totally smashed. I mean, where's the fun in that if you're going every night? Isn't it meant to be for special occasions with friends? One of my good friends got "excessively drunk" at a party a year ago. When she woke up the next morning, she was naked, on a bed, and everyone who was at the party and even some who weren't had Polaroid pictures of her unconscious and nude. A month later she realized she was pregnant, but no guy ever came forward to help her out or to admit that he was the father. It turns out that she was raped by nine different men that night and since she doesn't believe in abortion, she had a baby boy a couple of months ago. They're going to do paternity testing to find the father. Bad things can happen when you're trashed. If you're gonna drink, don't go overboard.

I'm in college, so I have to say: Drinking rules...I drink all the time, several times a week. It's a guaranteed way to releive stress, you can just feel the relaxation kick in after you finish the first beer and begin drinking the next 5. Going out to bars is a wonderful way to meet new people, get stupid and have fun with your friends. Having said that, there is a point where alcoholism becomes destructive. I will not drink and drive, and when I reach a point in my life when "Drinking in excess" is not appropriate, I will refrain. However, being a binge drinker in college is a prerequisite to being normal, and with good reason: it kicks ass.

Depends on the person. If you have a bad drunk, it's a "1"... however, for the most part, drunk people can be pretty amusing.

I've been there... more than occaisional cocktail, to obsessive drinking every night/weekend to have fun. Know what's more fun... staying sober and doing the same kinds of things... like dancing. You actually get exercise without cutting off your finger to spite your face!! LOL. Seriously, as a rule, it's for those who need to self destruct...either quickly or slowly. I find that God is an even better substitute!! :-)

One of the great american recreational activities available to adults over 21. I love to drink. try to do it each and every night until i'm woozy and right with the world. Of course excessive drinking takes a strong person. 1. you MUST be willing to exercie. you need exercise in order to keep the weight from beer, off. and also to keep your body in good shape. 2. dont eat while drinking. it simply is uncessesary. I also make sure not to drive while getting drunk. To hell with what the experts say. I say, if you want to drink yourself silly until you die, then go ahead. You only get one life anyway. might as well, do as you enjoy doing!

I used to drink in excess. I would justify it by saying 'it's good for my heart to drink two beers a day', but, of course, two would become much more. Drinking too much is a waste of time, money, and a form of slavish addiction. I am not sure why after years of drinking too much I was able to stop completely. Praying to God most surely helped. Another explanation could be a health remedy I can across. Try this for heavy drinking, go to a health food store, buy dried cloves, blend them to a powder, and put a table spoon in water and drink everyday. The powder will sink to bottom, so, you have to swirl glass on every sip. After water is gone, refill. After a couple of months, many cravens will disappear. After I did this, I heard that cloves is used as a tea and medicine in India.

Just like smoking, excessive drinking of alcohol can lead to an early death. I drink on occasion, which in my opinion is fine, but I don't over do it. No one should drink in excess because once this happens then that person is no longer in control of their life.

This is one of the more self-serving yet self-destructive habits on the list. Drinking too much makes people think they’re funny when they’re not, sexy when they’re at their most gross, and in most cases causes them to lose IQ points faster than if they were getting electro shock treatments and a lobotomy simultaneously. Drinking habitually kills millions of brain cells, robs the body of the good effects of vitamins thereby screwing up the immune system making the drinker more vulnerable to a variety of diseases. Alcoholism not only kills the alcoholic it has also been responsible for ruining the lives of families with effects that have lasted generations. As a habit, it stinks on ice or straight up.
