I have been to Disney World 15 or 16 times (I lost count), and everything has always been perfect. I really have nothing but positive things to say about Disney. While some think it is expensive you are paying for an experience and friendly service. I have never met a grouch Disney employee. The Fast Pass tickets are a must to save you from lines! I am dying to go back as soon as possible.

Walt Disney World is the larger of the two Disney theme parks, with Disneyland being the other. Disney world is located in Florida, which means that if you plan to go at the right time, anywhere from early June to mid August, you should have a great time. The park is extremely overpriced, because nothing is included with your admission to each individual park, and fees for everything are really high. Staff, however, is very friendly, and help make your trip very enjoyable. Everyone should go at least once.

As a young child, my father had taken me several times to the legendary Palisades Park (it was torn down in 1970, I believe, and there are apartment buildings located where it once stood-- the restaurant across the street where mob boss Willie Moretti was shot down in 1951 is also gone). I only have scattered memories of the time I spent there, but I think I built it up in my mind over the years, and every amusement park I've been to since I compare to Palisades Park, and find the non-Palisades Park attractions lacking. Every year, we'd visit my aunt and uncle in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and on a few occasions my parents took me and my sister over to Walt Disney World. Let me say, first of all, that even as a young child, I was never all that "charmed" by or enamored of Disney cartoons, movies, or TV shows. I was a bigger fan of "Gigantor" and "Courageous Cat" than I ever was of "Mickey Mouse". So the idea of human beings walking around in life-size Mickey Mouse or Goofy costumes was lost on me. I remember enjoying one or 2 of the roller-coaster type rides (I know they had a different name than "Roller Coaster" but I can't remember what that name was..."Space Mountain" maybe?) but I didn't enjoy waiting on lines in the insufferable Floriday heat for as long as I did (the roller coaster rides at Seaside Heights, NJ, were much lower-rent, but just as enjoyable, and you didn't have to wait forever to get on them; you also didn't have to pay nearly as much). The "Haunted Mansion" I sorta enjoyed, but not as much as I had enjoyed the "Fun House" at Palisades Park. I have no memory of any food we ate there, although I'm sure that's not surprising-- how memorable would "Walt Disney World food" have been? All in all? It was ok, I wasn't complaining, but nothing great. Maybe it had something to do with me getting older, but I doubt it. More to do, I think, with the advancing corporate nature of America.

Ok, So I have to start by saying, Disney is awesome. It's the only place in the whole world that no matter how old you are, you can be a kid!!!! The rides are not meant to all be scary and crazy, its a theme park, have a little fun. I used to live in jersey and moved here just to work in the happiest place on earth. And still, every time I go back, I have so many great memories of being a kid and having no worries. So it costs a lot of money, you know what, it's totally worth it. Save up and just enjoy yourself. For once in your life, dont sit and think about home much life sucks and how expensive everything is. If your kids are driving you crazy wanting to buy everything, give them money before you get there and tell them thats all they have for souvenirs, it works, i promise. And for those of you complaining about the heat and mosquito, i feel it silly to point this out but need to....its florida hahahaha we are pretty close to the equator over here haha, beats the snow anytime. Again, just enjoy it, people complain too much. Oh and a quick comment about gay day, disney doesn't run that, its run by an association and disney cant tell you that its going on because they have nothing to do with it. SO please, come visit, how ever old you are, and just remember the joy of being a kid and have some fun!!!!!!!!!!

Candy! YAAAAY... Screaming kids! NOOOO... Holy crap, crap to buy! WOOOO... Sweaty sunburn time! EWWWW... More kids! Pram to the shin! OUUUUCH... Walk til your feet fall off! OWWWW... Ok, I'll give it a 4. Mainly because I like buying random crap, which is like 85% of the things to do there. I also like the cute un-scary rides such as teacups, Dumbo, etc. If you see something that reminds you of a scene from Elf when Buddy is with the little elf peoples, that's me on a kiddie ride... wave and I'll smile back. Because smiling is my favorite.

I was an intern at Disney World. The main purpose behind this park NOW is to make money. It is ridiculous how much money they charge for EVERYTHING associated with this park. Be prepared to see the abuse of Disney's Dream taken to the extreme and sold for a heavy profit. Many cast Members here suffer more than anyone can imagine. Costumed characters are forced during the humid summer to withstand heat of up to 120 degrees inside the costume and that story is just the beginning of what goes on.... New rides are created without much creativity and are intended by their creators to quickly exit you into a gift shop selling merchandise for the super quick ride that you just rode. There are some magical experiences still to be had at Disney World and those range in the old sections of Disney that Walt Disney himself invented (ie. Magic Kingdom rides/attractions, certain sections of EPCOT). The park is still geared toward children and they are the only ones who will truely enjoy most of the rides here. Sadly, the children are the only ones who are excited to come to Disney because their parents are definately going to be STRESSED TO DEATH at the extreme costs of everything involved in going to these parks. I guess you can say the kids are the target market for Disney and its giftstores, and because its Disney, parents will spend whatever is needed to make the children happy on this super expensive trip. Hopefully Mom & Dad will be able to relax at night in a Disney Resort! But then again that is going to cost you BIG bucks too if you are to stay at a resort other than the bargain ones infested with noisy children and tired parents. Definately consider going to a Good-neighbor hotel which are cheaper and quieter and usually offer free shuttle. What time of the year you come here is also going to make a HUGE difference in your vacation experience. If you come in summer be prepared to wait in 2-4 hour in long lines for one ride. Fast Passes will be gone before 11am so you will need to gnaw to get one. The humidity is going to be like HELL so I recommend hiding alot of water in your backpack. Parades and events are always packed to the brim and you will definately want to plan ahead if you plan on watching one. If you are watching a night parade/fireworks you will need to leave about a half hour before the display is over in order not to get trampled on your way out of the park. The best time of the year to come here is when it is not busy or deathly hot is in JAN,FEB,MARCH,APRIL. During these months there is often not even a line for the top attractions. Cast Members are also in a better mood during this time because they are not suffering from massive traffic and heat. The resorts in themselves are an attraction and are to be considered. A nice boat ride from Downtown Disney to French Quarter is a MUST for any tired parent! Their is also a free movie night and marshmellow roasting at the Fort Wilderness Resort which is also relaxing and is FREE to attend but you must pay for the marshmellows. Really, Walt Disney World is like its own city. It is miles long and very hard to describe every attraction in detail. It really takes months to truely see everything and know how the parks work. Often the one week vacation is just too short a time to see the containments of this city. It will be overwelming, expensive, and the face will need to be fast in order to see it. Sadly, most people will only be able to afford to go once and will need to rush. So for those who insist on visiting this city. For parents looking to not waste time here are the best attractions in this city. Magic Kingdom: Splash Mountain, Thundermountain, Transportation authority, Wishes fireworks, SPECTRA 9pm parade, Pirates of the Caribbean, toontown (small children) and haunted mansion. Animal Kingdom: Birds of Flight, Kali Rapids, Jungle Trek, Festival of the Lion King, Bugs life 3d movie. EPCOT: Spaceship Earth, test track, aquarium, illuminations, and the hidden rides inside of the countries. MGM Studios: Rockin rollercoaster, Beauty and the beast show, Indiana Jones show, the stunt show, who wants to be a millionaire, and the little mermaid (little kids). Resorts: Fort wilderness, Yacht club for the cruise to Downtown Disney, Polynesian for Ohanas. Waterparks are OK.

Disney World is the sweetest theme park in the Universe!!!
Torin Gustafson 09/19/2005
Disneyland is better in terms of the Magic Kingdom - it has more rides and activities than Orlando's incarnation. But as a resort, Disney World offers more parks and a longer vacation.

I absolutely HATE this extremely and rediculously expensive non-amusing amusement park ! This is NOT A RIDES PARK ! Yes,this is most definitely a park for kids and it is a place that YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SHOULD DEFINITELY SEE AND VISIT but in my opinion ONE TIME IS ALL YOU AS A SINGLE,ADULT PERSON SHOULD EVER NEED. OF course if you have kids and grandkids more visits will be required for each person, child or grandchild, until each person in your immediate family will have been there, saw that. But,if you aren't a parent or grandparent then in my opinion ONCE IS ENOUGH ! This is most definitely an ATTRACTION or THEME PARK ! And,in my opinion the theme here is THIS IS NOT A RIDES PARK ! No,this is most definitely a WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT PARK So,DON'T GO and WASTE A TON OF MONEY IF YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO RIDE ALOT OF RIDES ! There are so few rides that you stand in line ALL DAY and sun burn (even if you already have a deep, dark tan or even if you are not caucasion),in the no shade,sub-tropical sun and wait and wait for hours and hours and hours just to ride one, single, solitary ride ! My wife, children and grandchildren and myself use to always go there every year when we vacationed in Florida but as of last year we have all decided that it is just far too hot and muggy to go there and pay all of that money to wait all day to ride. Yes,even the little grandkids are burned out on the place. We have all agreed that going there is just too much work and is not nearly worth the money spent to be so physically tired and ehausted from all of the walking, sweating and fighting the bugs, mosquitoes and sun all day. So,since we have always went to Florida first and foremost because of the ocean and beaches we have all decided that we will just stay in our oceanfront condo and get our sun on the beach and not at the park. We will save all of that time and gas and no longer drive all the way to Orlando to PAY ALL OF THAT MONEY TO STAND AND WAIT IN LONG LINES TO WATCH OTHER PEOPLE RIDE THE RIDES ALL DAY !

It's for little kids.
texasyankee 04/24/2005
I liked this, especially the island with the animals on it, the birds were really cool. I also liked the mgm section of it. My family is not into rides as much as I am, therefore I didn't get to ride many rides that I would have liked to.
macman 02/20/2005
I've been to them all and once you have been to Kings Island then you will never ever again say that Disney World is a better amusement park. A bigger AMUSEMENT PARK yes but a better one ? NO ! Kings Island has more RIDES than anyother amusement park. Disney has more THEME ATTRACTIONS than anyother park but pales in comparison to both Kings Island and Cedar Point when it comes down to rides.
Mooselover 02/20/2005
I went here for about 5 days and let me tell you it was the greatest time of my life. I went in October so the lines weren't a real problem and the humidity wasn't bad. I probably like Epcot the best. Both MGM Studios and Magic Kingdom were good too but Animal Kingdom wasn't that impressive. Overall if your going to a theme park resort then go here since it's the best of the best!
Boonta23 10/29/2004
When I first went, I was 17. At age 17, I thought it would be cool, but I was wrong. It was magical, really. It brought back all of the memories I had as a kid watching disney movies. As I said to my mom, All my friends are here! It was really a lot of fun, and I would like to go back sometime.

Disney World is the greatest park in the world, it's what all other parks are compared to. They always come out with the best and most creative rides, and the tecnology used in them is always cutting edge. No, they don't have the tallest or fastest coasters, but there is no other park in the world that offers as many ride choices, or as many different great experiences as Disney World does. We went there last Christmas, it was our fourth time, and we saw the fireworks on new years in Magic Kingdom, at around ten at night it started to pour down rain, and didn't stop all night, and it was still one of the best experiences I had ever had in an Amusement park.
tabaska907 06/14/2004
this is tha second best theme park ever behind island of adventure but its still 5 stars
kmpossible02 05/28/2004
This is a great place to vacation at...but there a few things to be aware of. DO NOT....at all costs....come to Disneyworld from May to August.....you WILL get eaten alive by mosquitos, or you will die from the 80% humidity (unless you live where there is already a lot of humidity), or you will stand in line till the end of time, because of big crowds. If you do plan on coming during this time, take advantage of the FastPass system. As a former Disneyland cast member, I can tell you that cast members cannot refuse a late FastPass...having worked FastPass myself. Get a FastPass and keep it, until your next opportunity to get a Fast Pass ( either in 2 hours or at your FastPass time). Collect a lot of them, until later. Go chill at your hotel during the hottest hours, then come back later and ride all the rides using your FastPass tickets. I went there last week, and my theory totally worked...works all the time at Disneyland. One thing to note...that I found disturbing was that the Cast Members at all the parks were really....well...rude! You ask a question, and the cast member ignores you to talk to a friend. You say Thank You, and you get a Whatever. You ask someone to take your picture, and they blow you off. They were only nice to me after they found out I was a former Disneyland cast member. That just isn't right. The other thing you will find funny are the resort shuttle drivers that try to kill you on your way to the parks. Make sure to find a seat, or don't board the shuttle at all. If you end up standing, you are in for one wild ride!!!
FAMILYMAN2 03/04/2004
We were booking a famlily vacation there for June this year, and no one at the DISNEY RESORT, PARK, or on ANY of the calander of events at thier web pages told us it was GAYDAYS with over 2 weeks of events covering our stay! We have cancelled our trip and are going to DOLLYWOOD. They were very ugly about not needing to tell us, and I am fighting them on the refund. Totally wrong to book a family with 6 kids under 10 at that time without mentioning it. I had even said we were not lo0cked into any dates, and those were the ones they selected for us.

Disney is the best place in the world! Especially if you're a teenager and go with your friends. I was just there in March for my senior trip and would give almost anything to go back. Everyone's always so nice down there because everyone is happy.

I love this place there is something there for people of all ages!
callmetootie 02/01/2003
Despite the fact that some parks are weaker than others, it is a truly fun place to go, and is a place that you must at least see some time in your life.
ridermage 01/17/2003
This is truly the best vacation destination on earth. I love going here and would spend time here every year if I was able. It is ridiculously expensive, but that's just part of Disney World! Try to enjoy the magic!
EricTKO 12/02/2002
MAGIC...No other place like it on earth. Do yourself and your family a favour...GO. Stay in one of the many Disney owned resorts....the magic stays with you 24/7.
reeny 08/11/2002
I went to Walt Disney World a few years ago with my family and it turned out to be a lot more expensive than I realized. I absolutely had no idea that you had to pay separately to get into epcot, the magic kingdom, mgm studios and the other parks. We ended up visiting the magic kingdom which was fun for the children, but did not peak my interest. I did enjoy myself however. I especially liked fantasy island because they had so many clubs to choose from.
kiwi8577 07/02/2001
It's an okay place, but I feel it's overrated. And WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!! Give me Sea World anytime, over Disney World!
sxycheerleader 09 07/01/2001
The best park in the world! I would live there if I could! Its impossible to see everything because there is so much and they have so much room for expansion. This place brings alot of happiness to people of all ages. I love this place with all my heart.
camerracht 03/02/2001
It's very disappointing that we missed anumber of rides because they were shut down (4) whenb we were there. Tremendous place but really hard to figure out what and how to see the whole place until you've been there at least once.
michael_arbor 01/25/2001
A classic amusement park. The one thing I didsliked about my experience at Disney when I was a kid is that my whole family had to wear the same t-shirts in the park in case anybody got separated from the group. Fun rides, a ton of theme things going on and turkey burgers galore. As an adult, I am going to be there in a week for a Fairy Tale wedding of a friend. This should be interesting...
SamIAm 01/25/2001
Disney World was exciting for me at the age of 18 as it was when I was 8. This is truly a magical place to me..yeah yeah, I know..commercialism, major corporation, all they want is your money..whatever..let me live in my dream world. Disney World has the ultimate thrill rides (Space Mountain, Tower of Terror etc..) as well as fun rides for all ages (haunted mansion, It's a small world). The park is incredibly clean and the staff is very kind and courteous. This is the ultimate dream vacation for people of all ages.
