My father had this insurance company and he died before his policey came up. He had no spouse and I alerted them to his passing. They responded by sending me a cancellation fee in my and his name. My fathers estate is not yet set up and within 3 months of his passing they sent my and my fathers name to an collection agency. I never signed any contract or agreement with the company. When I gave them the name of the lawyer handling the estate they sent him a letter that was missing information. He did not answer them not knowing what their claim was. Travelers and the collection agency were both notified by me that it is illegal for children to be charged with their parents bills. Even if it was legal, I have 4 sibling older than me. I contacted them because I was closest to my father. I have contacted the NY State Gneral Attorney in regards to this matter. What type of company charges a cancellation fee to a dead person and then send's the childs name of the deceased to a debt collector instead of to the deceased persons estate? As if his passing wasn't hard enough?

I had this insurance since 16. When I first started driving I was very inexperienced and had a few accidents. Of course, my rate went up, as with any insurance company. However, they were always prompt handling my claims and very friendly.
