I used esurance because they were the cheapest that I could find and being in Arizona (some of the highest insurance rates in the country due to the higher number of uninsured motorists) insurance for cars is always expensive.I had the minimum coverage ($15,000/$30,000) and was paying almost $1,000 for six months. I couldn't switch because they were going to charge a $50 early termination fee (which should be illegal) so I had to wait until my renewal time came up. When it did, I went to AmFam and got even better coverage ($100,000/$300,000 plus extras) and was paying almost $250 less for the 6-month term. Now, my brother is leaving esurance as well since he's got a paid-for 1996 VW with minimum coverage, no accidents/tickets on his record for almost 7 years and is paying almost $650 for 6-months!! That same *exact* policy at AmFam is costing him $450 ($200 less!) for 6-months!Even when my brother got married, he called esurance to notify them since most insurance companies provide a discount because you're married and was told by esurance that his rate would actually go up about $150 because he now has to insure 2 drivers on the same vehicle!Simply outrageous!

Esurance is a scam. Purchased thier insurance on line, Was quoted one amount which I paid and they got thier payment. They "Discovered" that I had less coverage with my pervious insurance company so they raised my rate because I was getting more coverage. So i asked them to drop my coverage to what my pervious compnay had my coverage at.. THEY STILL WANTED TO CHARGE ME MORE MONEY this is a scam. I would ask for my money back but I am sure they will take months to refund it so I am just going to stick with them for the 6 months and find yet another company then.. There has to be a honest insurance company out there somewhere.

After my husband got a DUI (did not get into an accident or hurt anyone or anything..luckily)...esurance was the ONLY company that would even consider insuring him. We also have a teenage son who started driving. I thought the insurance premium would be insane and it actually is the lowest we have EVER paid (we've had Allstate, State Farm, Farmers and Metlife). After using them for a year accident free, I am happy to report that our insurance for the 3 vehicles has dropped $300. I couldn't be happier. I do have to admit that we have never had to deal with a claim. I find the web site easy to follow and never was on hold for more than just a few minutes. We get notification via email every month as to when and what is being taken from our bank account and its has never been different. Esurance works for our family.

I have had Esurance for four years- it is fine if you don't need it. But I got in one accident where there was a small amount of damage to a traffic sign and Esurance won't return my phone calls, letters, or e-mails. The State Department of Transportation is now filing a lien against my house for the unpaid bill for the traffic sign damage. They are also in the steps of garnishing my wages. Thanks Esurance for taking my $97 a month and not helping me in the ONE time I needed it.I'm going to cancel ASAP.

I signed up for an esurance auto policy on June 11th, explaining that I wasin California for an extended work assignment however my home is in NY, theclerk assured me that would not be a problem and I paid for a 6 monthpolicy.3 days later I got a very discourteous phone call to "remind" me that if Idid not have my vehicle inspected at one of their designated inspectionsites my insurance would be cancelled. However, he could not provide alocation other than in NY and ended the call. I called e-surance to findout where to take my vehicle, and they had no locations in California for aNY resident. I cancelled the e-surance policy after I signed up withProgressive (which didn't have a problem with getting a NYS vehicleinspected in CA) and that's when things went from bad to worse! The threedays of insurance were going to cost be in excess of $100. (A six monthpolicy was only $268.) After speaking to a clerk, and then another clerk, and finally a supervisor, she agreed that I should not be penalized becausethey could not provide an inspection location and I would only be charged 30dollars for three days of insurance. $10 dollars of the $30 is anon-refundable fee charged by the state of NY (again, so why is this myproblem and not theirs?). I am told they will mail out a check, when I askedfor a deposit back to my debit account that I used to pay the bill, I wastold they did not have that capability. Whatever. A month goes by and Ihave not received a refund, I call and am told the "check is in the mail".Finally, on August 4th I get a check for $238 and promptly deposit it backinto my checking account. Then I receive a notice from my bank that thecheck has had a "Stop Payment" issued on it, and that will only cost me$10.00. I call esurance and spoke to a very nice, courteous andprofessional woman that tried very hard to assist me, and actually had thefunds electronically deposited back into my checking / debit card account(you know, that account that a month ago they had no capability toelectronically transfer funds too?) and gave me a fax number to send my bankcharges to so they can reimburse me via another check (this time to coverthe $10 stop payment charge). There are so many insurance companies available to do business with, for farless aggravation, I would recommend Progressive or Geico.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!I had auto & home insurance with them for 3 years and over the course of those 3 years they seemed to find ways to nickel & dime me on both my auto & home owners insurance. Things to take note of:1. They are not rated in JD Powers consumer report!2. They have 355 complaints against them! (as of 8/17/09)3. Their billing system has at lot of hidden flaws! Example if you relocate to another state and your policy changes. The system waits 2 months before it will recognize that the previous month bill or the old policy hasn’t been billed. Then they want 2 months payment in full! (New and old policy payments). Instead of continue to bill you at the set date and then do any proration if needed?4. The Esurance representatives really push you to use debit card or credit cards payments. (Easier for them to make immediate charges without notification)!5. They will not call you if there any important updated information that might be needed by them or your state.6. They communicated to you by email only!7. Everything is done over the internet and you not have the ability to develop a business relationship with any of the insurance sales representatives. So it is hard to taylor an insurance policy for a specific need!8. Very limited insurance products.Note: If you have a home that you where or trying to sell and now your are forced to rent it out. Esurance home owner’s insurance company does not offer insurance for rental property!Again do not waste your time with Esurance! They have a lot of hidden charges and flaws in their policies and procedures. Sad it took three years to discover them, but they are there! They find ways to offer you less and charge you more!

I'm 22 and own a SRT10, and a Yaris. Using progessive and quotes from everyone else I was paying $2,500/6 months full coverage for both cars brand new. Same rate with esurance but paying $800/6 months and I'm loving the extra cash in the bank. Haven't got into a accident so cant put my 2 cent there but as for saving money. I am saving alot. :D

Awful...my husband in motorcycle accident a year ago, the car that pulled out in front of him was insured by Esurance. Still waiting to settle. THey want us to sign away all our rights. We have police reports and the person was cited ..it was his fault. Esurance are trying to say the case was 'dubious and doubtful'. We have witnesses, My husband went over the top of the car.. he was wearing his full motorcycle gear ( which probsbly saved his life)My husband has never had an accident and has been driving and riding for 30 years. Esurance are trying to bully us...I suggest that everyone with a complaint against them to get in touch with their State Insurance Commisioner..., and file a complaint with them. That's what they are there for and that's what we have done. I give them -5

Had a car flooded from a hail storm and it would not start. Called Esurance and they had a tow truck out the next morning and towed it to the body shop at no charge. The car ended up being totaled and they gave me a good offer for my car - $10k+ for a 2002 Subaru WRX or a little over $9k if i wanted the car back. Once i made my decision i had my check the same day. Very helpful throughout the whole process.

They are the absolute WORST insurance company ever inexistance. We had to pay a fee when our car was repaired, I have never heard that and told the repair that they would not pay for other repairs that were a part of the accident which of course meant that we have to pay ourselves. Rates increase with every renewal. I've had several auto insurance companies in my 30+ years of driving never one as bad as nosurance. Don't waste your time or hard earned money!!!!!

Too bad you can't leave "0" stars here. Esurance is awful. Their people are rude and incompetent. It all seemed fine til my vehicle was broken into. They have tried to pin it on me as if the damages to my automobile were my fault and not a direct result of the break-in even tho I have provided them with very well-documented police reports that THEY HAVE NEVER BOTHERED TO READ.If you are lured into taking a policy with esurance because of their fun commercials and the promise of savings, just pray you never have an incident. You will be sorely disappointed. They will not follow up with you. (Take me for example, it's been over 3 weeks and these people STILL HAVEN'T taken my formal statement. I'm being told it's going to be basically another 2 business weeks until their investigator gets back to me on that.) Oh, and that's another thing...if they don't want to do the repairs on your vehicle, they'll report you to a claims investigator to delay it out until you don't even care about the claim anymore because you just want your vehicle back. AND they'll also use this delay as an opportunity to get nearly NOTHING repaired on your vehicle just to get you to take it back unrepaired - so that when you call to inquire about when they're going to complete the job they can tell you "well you DO have your vehicle back now, be happy with that."This company sucks - plain and simple. Seriously, buyer beware.
srb2975 06/26/2009
I rate it ZERO stars. At first they were great, their website was easy to buy and print my policy and compared to other companies, I thought I was saving money. That was 2 1/2 years ago. I was in an accident this past December in which I totalled my car and sufferred severe back injuries. First, they offerred me about 1/4 of the book value of my car as it was a total loss. I had to spend $500 to hire a firm to fight it for me, which they did a great job and got it at least to 85% of book value. That was the first thing that pissed me off. Now, I have had 3 back surgeries and have not worked since February. I do not have disability through work because my employer is a cheap-ass, but fortunately Michigan law requires auto insurers to pay for lost work time at 85% tax free. Everything was fine at first, checks were coming in on time and they were finally paying my medical bills after my regular health insurance had already paid for everything and then found out that it was due to an car accident, so they had to go after Esurance because it was their responsibility to pay for it. Now that I have had three surgeries, they are getting a bit hesitant on paying things. They sent me to their own neurosurgeon for an "Independent" evaluation....guess what, it wasn't "independent" because THEY paid for it. Fortunately, he did state that I was disabled however he did not feel that a third surgery was necessary....wrong again, 2 other neurosurgeons disagreed, I had the surgery and am finally not in pain!! (Just have about 6 months of recovery). Anyways, my claims rep at Esurance is pathetic excuse for someone who suppossedly works in the customer service industry. She can't spell, she has no understanding of basic arithmetic, she has sent my checks to the incorrect addresses, delayed my payments because SHE sent requests to the incorrect addresses. I moved during the middle of it so I could receive better care and I informed her in writing 4 TIMES that my address had changed until she finally got it right (thus delaying payments). She has waited up to 4 months to reimburse me for prescriptions that I have had to pay for out of pocket and she has delayed sending my lost wage checks on multiple occassions for absolutely no reason. She has left threatening and demanding voicemails, she doesn't respond to emails. She got nasty with me when I spoke with her supervisor, on and on and on. I'm not sure if she is just retarded or if this is how they train everyone at Esurance. I have since had to spend more of my money now to hire an attorney just so she will finally respond to her mistakes and get them corrected. Throughout this whole ordeal, I am going to end up losing a lot of money and cut into a lot of my savings and I know that the added stress and aggravation caused by her incompetence has greatly hindered my recovery and was probably partially responsible for me needing 3 surgeries. What she if forgetting is that I am the customer, but she just chooses to be a complete idiotic bitch. My advice to you STAY AWAY FROM ESURANCE!!!!! IT IS NOT WORTH THE SAVINGS. I'm rating them 0 stars. If they had negative stars, it would be a NEGATIVE 5 STARS. THEY TOTALLY SUCK.Damn it, they make you give them at least one star, but believe me, I'm going to have to have someone else click on it.

You would think that the online process would result in sigificant savings, but having compared several different insurance companies, this carrier is really not that competitive on a price basis. The company must not have good cost controls because a company that doesn't have to pay agent or broker commissions should be able to market a lower priced product.
William Nett 03/31/2009
I bought a policy on a pre-owned 2001 minivan when I returned from Iraq in 2005. The whole online process was impossible as my wife did not have a license at the time yet, and as I was married, they refused to accept the application online, and I had to phone them and explain that my wife did not drive. I needed a car and I needed insurance in a hurry. Before six months was up they tapped my bank account again with no notice (print or e-mail) with a 10% increase! No tickets, no accidents, and a clean record! I called them immediately and got the money refunded and they told me that their policy was to auto charge my bank account early to ensure that the funds were there... I told them that this was illegal. They tried to tell me that there was a 10% early cancellation fee, which I contested. They claimed (get this... here's the winner,) Cell phone companies do it and so do we. Really? If you despise companies having access at will to your bank account and hiding policies, go elsewhere, their customer service sucks, and I suspect they won't be around much longer unless they have huge internal changes. Personally, I'll never use this company again, and from the posts I've read... I'm glad I never had an accident.

I started with Esurance about 2yrs ago and have never been happy with them...NEVER! I only started with them because I was buying a car on a holiday weekend and no one else was open. The price was extremely high, all I was getting was basic coverage to get the car legal.I figured after the 1st 6mos I'd get a lil bit of a discount and then I could add some more coverage, right. WRONG!!!!! When I inquired about adding coverage the price was so outrageous I just left it alone and figured I'd try it again in another 6mos. What a joke that was, I get my 2nd renewal with them and my permium went up by 40 buck a month. Now mind you I've had no claims whatsoever, so why would it go up??? Oh yeah and I never got a renewal offer stating how much my next 6mos would be they just withdrew the money from my account. So of course I called them to find out what the deal was...They claimed there was a state wide increase for all insurance companies..WTFE!!!So now I'm trapped with this comapany for another 6mos but have decided once my policy is up I'm going with another company. And they did it again, renewal time rolls around and they debit my account again, my permiums went up again and I still didn't have any claims. And this time they took my money 2 1/2 weeks before they were suposse to.Again I called to find out what was going on and to cancel my ploicy altogether. These peolpe had the never to tell me that I could not cancel my policy within the first 60 days of the policy. I kindly told the woman that I did not agree to the renewal price and the renewal wasn't even in effect for another 2 1/2 weeks. She placed me on hold and when she came back she said she was going to have to charge me 10% of the policy permium for early cancelation. These people have lost their damn minds.I would never recommend anyone to use Esurance NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that 1 star is void in my book the deserve nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
birdyspice 02/19/2009
Basically, they stole money from my bank account. I didn't authorize renewal. I didn't even want to renew with them. I can't even feed my family now because they stole money i needed for groceries out of my bank account. Esurance automatically charged my bank account to renew my policy a few weeks before it was to end. I had the same trouble with them last year except that time, they'd charged a bank account that was empty and i was ready to close. this has caused me so much trouble and bank charges. the policy was like 1000 dollars so you know... i called them to tell them that i don't want to do any business with them at all after this and they said they'll MAIL me a check in 2 weeks. so.. they can automatically take money out of my acct but it takes 2 weeks to snail mail me a check? now my account is overdrawn and i have no money to buy food for my family. i called them on the phone and they are absolutely unremorseful. they said they warned me through email that they were to charge me.. an email account i no longer use btw. take my advice, DO NOT give this company your credit card number as they will charge your acct without proper warning or your authorization to renew. i did not want to renew my policy with them. what gave them the right to assume i did? this was never told to me when i talked to the agent over the phone when i signed up for service. i have no idea how i'm going to eat for the next few weeks especially now with all of these bank charges i didn't expect for having to cover the charges i've already made on the acct. i'm barely living week to week. i hate esuarance. we were barely holding it together before all of this. they have ruined our lives and they really don't care.

Ok... started my policy on Dec 15....Paid$65 to start (Motorcycle Insurance, Liability only)... $38 payments made QUARTERLY...got a letter on the 28th of January saying my policy was going to be canceled for non payment of policy. WTF?Called AMERICAN MODERN HOME INSURANCE COMPANY...wtfFirst off, why am I calling another company, who is not esurance, about my policy?Ok...then I talk to the first lady there and she said I had filled out my forms wrong...something about waiving some non insured motorist liability some crap...WTF!!! I just want some fuikcng insurance.So...FCUK ESURANCE.

You get what you pay for.The prices are competitive, and I never had a problem with them until I got in an accident. I was cut off by a driver who took complete responsibility for the accident. I missed a couple days of work and had to take my car in to an "E-star" repair place for body repair work. About a week later they had ordered the parts and my car had to be dropped off. Only I couldn't drop it off on a Saturday or Sunday, I had to drop it off on a Monday morning because they would not cover a rental car on the weekend. This was completely unrealistic since I leave for work at 6am Monday through Friday. They gave me the run around until finally I was able to find a car I could BORROW (putting my mom out of work for the duration of the repair). I was supposed to be able to monitor my repairs online but their system never worked. It's a complete rip off. When my car was finally ready I went to pick it up and I was told my car was idling "funny". The "estar" repair place even told me they had their mechanic look at it and there was nothing wrong. It was a complete lie because the check engine light was now on (which it wasn't when I took the car in), and the car barely idled. I had to take the car into the dealer to have it looked at and repaired. When I called esurance and told them to deal with this situation, they told me with a very snotty attitude that I had the car and they couldn't do anything about it. Esurance really is a joke. Just hope you never get into an accident while you are insured by them.
dylanfan1966 01/04/2009
I drove my Jeep into a snow bank to avoid T-Boning a vehicle in front of me that spun out of control. The "crash" knocked a wire loose and the plastic bumper was cracked...no big deal right?....WRONG... The vehicle has been off the road for 14 days now. An "adjuster" went out to appraise the damage and decided that the electrical problem was "not covered" and only apraised the bumper damage...The electrical problem was caused by the accident! How is it not covered?! Supposedly another adjuster should be appraising the electrical problem but it's been two weeks and i haven't heard anything!! ESurance is terrible! My "claim rep" never calls me back and acts like she's doing me a favor every time she talks to me. HORRIBLE!
ernwood 12/29/2008
We HAD Esurance for a period. After only having the police for about 2 months, I had to file a claim. The accident was not our fault. We had all the coverage. Unfortunately, when we went to renew our policy, they jacked our rates way up. Again, not our fault in the accident. Beware, if you ever have an accident with them as your coverage, they WILL jack up your rates at renewal.
cheeeese 12/29/2008
The customer service at Esurance sucks ass. In the 22 months I was insured with them I called maybe four or five times, usually with just a question re. my policy. There was always a ten to fifteen minute wait on hold, and then half the time the operator I spoke to would be rude, unprofessional, and couldn't answer my question (sample question: why did my rate increase by five hundred dollars in the last six months?). I really dislike this company. I would have cancelled sooner but didn't have the time or energy to shop around.
valq 11/18/2008
Would rather rate them a 0. this company is horrible. i was customer for three years, always paid my premiums at six months, never once had a claim and yet my rates consistently went up, just enough to make it less than other places. i finally was able to combine my home owners and auto make it less and these jerks charged me a $50 cancellation fee for canceling one month before the term was up. i have never been charged an early cancellation fee by an insurance company. do not go thru them, it's a horrible company.
Geicoagnt 11/12/2008
Awesome customer service, I called to cancel my policy and got a hold of a cancellation agent who was very professional and gave me great advice on insurance coverages. I told him thanks but the cost is too high, he than lowered my rate with extra discounts. Also offered me quotes to other companies, if esurance was not a right fit for me. I will stick with them for another term. The claims department is also pretty good too, never had a problem with any claim I had in the past. Very good company and does a lot for the environment.
dave124 11/01/2008
esurance will not cover you after you pay the premium if your car is damaged the will not pay claims. it happened to me don't use this company
karndt57 10/27/2008
HOPE YOU DON'T GET IN AN ACCIDENT!! Esurance has been fine for me except when I got in an accident. I have the rental agreement on my policy which gives you $25 a day for a rental up to $750...great until I rear-ended a car. According to Esurance, I totaled my car. I was told I get a rental car for 3 days after. ONLY 3 DAYS! Not only did they take my car since it was totalled, but I had no way to get around California. I called to complain and the person handling my claim was no help. I filed a complaint and unfortunately it went back to the guy handling my claim, which made him even more mad. The customer service was horrible. The prices may look great, but don't let it fool you

Esurance, providing the worst Insurance experience ever: I was lured in by a significant savings. Then I had my first accident ever. I lost control of my car in bad weather and ran into a wall. Not knowing any better I called Esurance for help. They filed my clam immediately, however I thought I was filing a comprehensive claim, but they filed it as a collision that was my fault. This is treated the same by the insurance company as if I was driving recklessly and ran into another car. I waited a week and a half to get my car into an 'Esurance approved' shop. Then it took a month before I got the car back. Cost 1600$, of which I paid 1000$. Immediately my premium increased. I thought, ok I expected that. Then, I get my renewal notice for the next period and it goes up again! This time by 30%. Never a speeding ticket or citation with one accident do to inclimate weather and my insurance is 2.5 times as much as my car payment. Please go elsewhere, somewhere you are treated like a person and not just a cartoon like in their elaborate commercials. BTW I have used several different insurance companies and when I changed in the past I have never been charged an early termination fee (@ esuckance 10% of your premium)but Esurance wants to stick it to you anyway they can.
cheychey1029 09/17/2008
This company is terrible. I used them for a little over a year and wish that I had not. I was in an accident and I had the car towed to a body shop. I informed Esurance where the car was and gave them the contact info. 2 weeks later I received a letter from them stating that they had been to my home 2 times to look at the car & there was no answer! They had my phone number incorrect in thier system. The worst part about it was I only had coverage for 1/2 the cost of a rental car (my fault) so time was a big issue. They finally went to look at my car so the repair shop could start on it 3 weeks after the accident. There was also a situation where I was not notified of an increase in my policy (by email) and it increased by double. Since my payments were direct debited from my account it caused me to accrue 300 dollars in NSF fees from my bank. It took 3 months of daily phone calls and it never did get straightened out. I ended up closing the account they debited out of and paying the fees.
niclosmalta 09/13/2008
The worst experience ever with the company. They don't return calls and are unrealistic in covering claims. I would never wish this epathetic company on anyone. They have a don't care attitude. I rate them -5

Worst mistake ever to choose Esurance. I switched to State Farms afterward and saved almost $600 for a half yr rate. Not only Esurance is expensive, their service is the worst! The so called "feedback" form from them was never sent to me after i switched. It was extremely hard to get a hold of the claims representative- Shannon Ortega, or the entire office at Sacremento. My calls get forwarded to voicemail of the claims representative, then to the supervisor, then I finally had to leave a voicemail to their office, which no one else picked up. Shannon was rude to me most of the time and was speaking for the other person, instead of me, when I was telling her what had happened. She went ahead and wrote the letter saying i'm 100% at fault even before I can have a chance to talk with her about my side of the story in detail. I also felt she had prejudice against me by making a decision without hearing the entire story, speaking for the other person, and claiming that "[she knows] the law", as if she is the police. I give a star to Esurance because they made it easy for me to switch to another company, but with a $50 fee....
hydrolysis 09/07/2008
I appreciate the feedback on Esurance because I was going to switch from Geico to save a few bucks; but now I will not because it sounds like it would be a big mistake.

Esurance SUCKS! Wish I could rate them a ZERO! I got a quote for $444.89 for 6 months which would be around $80.00 per month. I saved the quote and it was emailed to me. I went back the following day to purchase the policy and the quote miraculously tripled in price! The customer service representative was extremely RUDE and not helpful in the least bit. He said "maybe the credit bureau was down yesterday". Isn't the customer ever right anymore? I have a quote that was emailed to me. The same information was in the quote as the day before but yet prices rise. Hmmm..... Glad I found out about Esurance BEFORE I even bought the policy. Thanks you rat bastards for giving yourselves away prior to getting your money. Jokes on them. I'll stick with the same company I've been with for almost 5 years. Liberty Mutual is at least reputable and honest. You get what you pay for I guess.

ESURANCE SUCKS!! I went on line and signed up thinking that the rates were really good. A week later they called me and said they could not find my driving record. I game them my license number again and the lady told me she would get back to be but everything should be good to go. A few days later I got an e-mail telling me that my policy is canceling the next month. I called them back and they told me again they could not find my record. I tried to explain to her because it is from Washington, they use your last name and a code and the last 3 of you SSN. She told me that I was wrong but I gave her the number again and asked her if she would like me to scan and send her a copy of my license. She said no and she told me she would process it again. I asked her would my policy expire the next month or not. She said no I will "fix" it. A few days after that my husband took the call from them and the lady told me my number was wrong. She said that she used a B not the D and it came up and got upset for him for "wasting her time". After hearing that I again called because I know I can read and that was not my number. I called and got some guy who really needed a hug that day. I told him that the number they are using was wrong. He told me don't worry about it they just need a number!!! I knew I was not going to listen to that and the ending date was gettig closer so I called again. This time they told me that the policy expiered and that even though it was their fault they would not fix it but I could re purchase a policy. I just hung up. I will just have to get a better policy and pay a little more money for the service.

I have to agree with all of your reviews Heaven forbid you are in a car accident w/ E-surance the adjuster did not make me feel as if I was dealing with my own insurance company she discussed all the legalities and assumed that the accident could have been my fault I was more stressed after talking to her instead of feeling good about my insurance when in fact that is how I should of felt....Let me just say that the other carrier that I was dealing with treated me with High regard unlike Esurance (my own insurance) What is up with that. I am really disgusted and irritated at the way I was treated especially assuming the accident could have been my fault oh yeah and not to mention the countless hours I spent handling my own claim! I am giving them a BAD BAD BAD Review I am switching my insurance....Please do not do business with E-surance I wish I would have done my homework and reviewed their customer service! I have to agree the website is awesome but it doesn't outweigh the bad service you receive!!!

Absolutely Horrific!! BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Slow-paced claims processing, always assuming YOU are at FAULT. If you want to waste a ton of money and time, DO NOT USE ESURANCE!!!

I got hit by a drunk driver insured by Esurance and it has been 7 months since i have heard anything. No one calls back when they say they are going to. I was 8 months pregnant and they keep trying to settle for significantly less. They are a HUGE JOKE!!

This would be a negative 6 stars if that were possible. Absolutely horrible! Esurance is a total joke, especially when you get into an accident. Where to start... The website is the only user-friendly feature of the company. Easier to use than most other insurance websites (especially highly reputable ones), Esurance snags people in with instant quotes and instant policy. It actually takes a few business days to take effect, but it's so easy. They are good at filing SR-22's, but it seems to end there. The real test of an insurance company is when you get into an accident. For this, Esurance gets an F-minus. When a drunk driver destroyed my car, I got someone on the line to report the accident, but I found that there were very few repair shops work with Esurance. Also, I gave the other party's information to Esurance, but they seemed to be very slow in getting a hold of the other insurance company. Eventually, the insurance company got a hold of me, but it seems they got my information from the police report of the incident. As for the settlement, they are real low-baller's. They go way below fair market value and they also factor the insured's deductible to give an insultingly low sum. I had to fight with Esurance quite a few times to get a better settlement (and these were the people who were supposed to be fighting for me). They only refunded the deductible when they actually settled with the DUI's insurance company. Subrogation - they seem ineffective in recovering the several hundred dollars I paid in out of pocket costs for the car rentals. It's too early to tell, but I wonder if anything will materialize in the next 2 and a half years. I just canceled my policy with them. They slapped me with a cancellation fee - how freaking stupid is this? $50 to cancel? Give me a break. When they asked me why I was going over to another insurance agency, I tried to keep it positive. Since they insisted on pushing the questioning, I frankly told them I wanted to go with a better, more reputable insurance company. They suck. I wouldn't even tell my worst enemy to get insured by them.

We are a full service insurance agency in southern California. We have insured a truck load of previous Esurance customers who have echoed the same sentiments. I am sorry to hear that the this company is still in business. You need to speak up, and be heard by the Department of Insurance in your state. Give them a call, file a complaint, it really does make a difference..... California Department of Insurance Consumer Assistance Phone 800-927-HELP (4357) (Calling from within CA)

I hate to give them even a 1. Drunk driver hit my 1973 Triumph Spitfire sportscar (perfect condition exteriorly) while I sat in my apartment and watched. This happened 3 months ago and still don't have any $$ from them. I'm geting the huge run around and am about 4 hours away from getting an attorney and I really mean it! I faxed them info 2 times and they said they didn't get it. I scanned and e-mailed the info and after a week, I still didn't hear from them. Called them today and the guy played dumb. Told him he had 4 hours to get me the info I needed or I was calling an attorney. It has been 2 hours still haven't heard from him.... I hate these people!

I worked claims for this company don't buy your insurance from them one of the worst companies on the market. Employees are over worked and under trained this year they will not get a long promised bonus the cheap price is not worth the problems you will have if you buy insurance from Esurance I promise you.

Esurance is a huge scam and overpriced. I have to echo what others have said. I have had the same coverage through esuranced for 2+ years, same cars. Every time the policy renews it just keeps going up. The cars are older and yet more and more expensive to insure? That just doesnt make any sense. I must add I have a perfect driving record so there is no reason for these rate increases. After buying a new car and seeing what they wanted to charge me I decided to shop around. I was able to get increased coverage and add a homeowners policy, still coming in below what Esurance was charging, and have a real live person that I can contact directly should I need anything. I cancelled my Esurance immediately and was told that I would be assessed a $50 fee for mid-term cancellation. They just has to get me a little bit more on the way out. Bad, Bad Bad. I will let everyone know of what a horrible company this is. Avoid Esurance like the plague!!!!!!!

After being a customer of GEIGO for more than 20 years, I decided to shop around after they significantly upped my rate after an accident. ESurance was alot less. Shortly after signing up with ESurance we had a minor accident. They were quick, easy to work with and helped me out all along the way.

Worst company ever! Doubled my rates, so I canceled! autobilled me anyways, can't get money back! never, never, never give them your credit info! You will get billed forever! or until you get lawyers!

Esurance has got to be one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. Don't use them unless you're backed in a corner and no one else will take you. I paid them $232 for 18 months. They just renewed my policy 30 days ago and I got an email today, no phone call, an email to say the auto I have will no longer be 'covered' by esurance. They won't insure cargo vans so I have 14 days to find insurance. It clearly states in my policy they must give me 30 days notice to cancel with explanation. When I asked en esurance employee about this, I was told "to bad". What? To bad? They just dropped me and said to bad after I've paid nearly $4,200 in 18 months. RUDE on the phone. RUDE emails. BAD customer service. DON'T USE THEM.

When I signed up with them, they said I was to get a reasonable price but when I signed on the line (so to speak)they said it was going to be more. That was sucky of them. So I began to hate them. Then I get to print out my own TINY little insurance card which only covered one of my cars!!! (when I signed up, I insured 2) Then I looked at who was actually insuring me and it was some no name insurance com. I lost my debit card soon after and instead of giving them my new card number, I chose to dump and not call. They are still interested in 8.99 for what? I don't know. I say, there are too many insurance companies to choose from so why settle. It's kind of like finding the right man. I am now w/ GEICO and they are 40 cheaper a month and I have better coverage. Esurance is trying to be "ecofriendly". They don't give a flip about that, they just don't want to spend money on paper. they are shady. I would not reccomend them. At least Geico has their buzz wordds down. Hence the term "Welcome to the Geico family."

My 1997 civic was stolen on my birthday. It was recovered 11 days later with damage. Esurance took it to their own storage facility where it sat for another 3 weeks. They did a rough estimate of the damage and I had it towed to my auto shop. It took another 10 days for them to come and confirm the additional damages that were uncovered there. When it was time to renew the policy they raised my rates by about $220. This was for a comprehensive claim with no tickets or accidents during the time I had the policy. Their customer service is terrible. They do not return emails or phone calls. The only way I got them to act was to file a complaint with the California Insurance Commission. Conclusion - Esurance is cheap and you get what you pay for (until you file any kind of claim whether its your fault or not).

horrible customer service. the MVA in my state (called DMV in most states) requested proof of insurance--dont ask me why they didnt know i had insurance in the first place (another one of esurance's negligence im sure ) and it took literally 6 months for esurance to send the MVA the appropriate forms--how hard is it to simply fax a form stating i am covered!!? and now they wanted proof that my lisence was not suspended (how random) so i hauled myself and kids to the MVA lines and asked them to send esurance the necessary forms...guess what, they never received it! wow! what a suprise. stay away from this company!! they suck! i was with them for 2.5 years.

Great unless you have a claim. These guys don't pay. I was in a massive accident with my baby in the car that was caused by one of their insured. It is now two and a half years later, I haven't seen a dime and they have some very high priced lawyers defending them.

No stars from me. I have fallen off horses, Even Had bricks fall on my head, But nothing compares to the pain and frustration I have encountered with Esurance. My car was a total loss and they are still giving me the run around and its been three weeks. I practically had to talk to the Owner of the company in order to get their NY office on the ball. The totally ripped me off on the price of the car. I had to talk to sixteen different people before they decided to give me any compensation. Even after we settled on the price they still have to send me a ton of paper work which will take at least two weeks to receive it and then two more weeks to send it back. This has been the worse company I have ever encountered. I would consider them the Nazi party of car insurance. STAY AWAY!!!!
