I've got to say that he pitches damn well for a guy who looks like a pulling guard. Had a strong season, and playing in New York won't hurt him as far as getting votes. As is becoming the norm with this guy, his team drove him like a cheap rental car, and he racked up 230 innings. I get the feeling that the wear is starting to show. His strikeouts were well down this year while his ERA climbed. Part of that can be attributed to playing in the bandbox that the new Yankee Stadium seems to be, but not all of it.In the top group of pitchers in this years voting, and it wouldn't be a travesty if he won it, but I think there are better candidates.

Probably something like the fourth or fifth best pitcher in the AL this season if you look at everything closely. Sabathia was indeed very good, but merely playing for the Yankees often boosts a player's reputation beyond where it should be.

Sabathia wouldn't be on my ballot, but he would be the last player I left off. His ERA was pretty damn good, but it was a fair amount behind the three guys I have ranked ahead of him. His 19-8 record is impressive, but there is the Yankee factor to consider when looking at won-loss results. Sabathia had a very good 2009, but he wasn't as dominant as he was the year before. I expect he'll be one of the handful of guys to receive votes this season.
