Behind the Bell (Dustin Diamond) 3

I didn't get that he had THAT much resentment or hate for anyone. Just not a lot of respect and Dustin doesn't seem to hate on MP so much as be really annoyed/resentful that OTHERS treated him like he was a God. I def get Dustin felt he didn't get enough respect for what he contributed to the show. And I don't know if he's that jealous considering it took everyone from the show years to find work including Mark Paul.

Other than complaining about the clique that formed against him (and I don't know anyone who'd go through that and shrug it off. It hurts feelings and marks you. He has a right to talk about it), I don't see where he was hating on anyone really. He was taking folks through his bird's eye view of the experience. And he also outs himself on some things too. Like both he and Mario slept w/ execs. The time he was set up for a prank and ended up giving Elizabeth a pic of his wang. I think Dustin could be a decent guy but his language makes him come off like a sleaze. Who the hell still refers to woman/girls as "chicks?" He spent like 2 chapters detailing how much ass he picked up at Disney world. *shakes head*

Not a well edited or particularly well done book and there are no newsworthy revelations. Unfortunately, the cast of Saved By the bell is just NOT THAT scandalous save for Mario rape accusation. And because Diamond was so far out of the loop with the other cast members he seems to have not been privy to a lot of what was going on or why. It does give a good account of what it's like working on a network show though.

I couldn't get through this book; the only thing I was able to gleen from what I was able to read was how whiney, bitter, angry, and resentful Screech is at his former co-stars successes and achievements. His anger is misplaced - he fails to see his own short-comings; fails to see that it's not his co-stars fault his career stalled after "SBTB". He's trying to portray himself as a victim, that it is everyone else's fault he has failed to succeed in life. But, as we know, blame is always better to give than receive ...

That said, I have a hard time believing the stories he relates in the book - in my mind, it's a desperate attempt to drag his former co-stars down the sewer to join him; a desperate attempt to ride the financial coattails of those he is disparaging. Fortunately for them, they've grown up, and moved on. Sadly, Screech still hasn't.

After a failed attempt to make a "tape" that was "leaked" generate any buzz or money for him, he is now desperate to try and denigrate his former cast mates and it's a shame he has driven his once promising career to stay watchable and now see him just making a fool of himself. I guess after playing a fool for 11 years takes a tole on you and turn you into a living one. Dustin you are a douche-bag and I hope you now wallow away in your own feces. Have a nice day....oh yeah don't buy this waste of a book. The paper you clean yourself with in the bathroom is more valuable.

I don't know how some of these other reviewers got it so early since it was just released, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were some Screech haters. The man does have a few enemies after Fit Club!
If you grew up on the Saved by Bell like I did and always had a bit of a suspicion that all was not as perfect as it looked at Bayside high then this is your confirmation. Diamond gives a healthy dose of what the biz was like during that time when SBTB was as big as High School Musical is now. I enjoyed reminiscing through old episodes and getting the dirt on things I always knew were going down . Remember how incestuous some of those episodes were at the end? Art imitating Life. I must say after reading this I discovered a few things that I probably wouldn't have wanted to know about Mark Paul that taint that teenage feeling I had for him, and that Mario Lopez rape debacle had me shaking my head a bit.

All in all a good raunchy read to devour in one sitting. If you like a bit of schadenfreude , then this is the book for you.

Reading this, you get the idea he was really just PO'd that he didn't get the same acclaim several of the other actors did and now he is going to get back at them for all of the perceived snubs. Not a lot of proof offered for most of the supposed "dirt", _lots_ of innuendo. Too much whining and going on about how the rest of the cast didn't want him around. If he was as big a crybaby then as he is now, it's no wonder! You can certainly see why he hasn't been included in any of the anniversary stuff, what a disagreeable character...save your money and buy a better book, ANY other book.
