The worst ever !!!

My boyfriend have been insured with progressive for over 10 yrs (auto) five years ago he bought a house and his home insurance is also through progressive. He had perfect driving record never an accident or even any kind of ticket. Always paid on time never a late payment. With that kind of business and commitment with progressive he was treated with the worst customer services when he was involved in an accident that clearly wasn't his fault.

On that day, we were at the market as he was pulling out of his parking space , another car tried to back into the spot and hit my boyfriend car in the rear. This was ours first accident so we both didn't really know what to do. I called progressive told them this was ours first time so please tell me what we should get/do. The person told me to get down the other person insurance, name, number, which i did, she then file our claimed and told us someone will call us and arrange and estimate.

After the accident we went and get an estimate at our car at our normal car service the totally came out to be $800. Also during this time the other car insurance call and ask us what have happen, the first question the claim person asked was IS ANYONE HURT, then he proceed to asked about the accident.

As for Progressive I still remember till this day she asked us "WHY DIDN"T YOU MOVE" ???? How the heck do you MOVE from an accident, how am I supposed to answer this question, first of all it was not ours fault, this is what we get for being a commitment customer for all these years so they can protect the other person WTH ????

Finally, our claim money from the other company came to a total of $600 two hundred less than the estimate. However, they only agree to give us $300 because we didn't have a witness. This was stupid in my part, but when you're in an accident you can think clearly. That is why i told the claim person that this was my first time please tell me what to do. She never told me to get a witness. I called progressive hoping they can help us, they told us there was nothing they can do and it was ours fault for not getting a witness, they didn't investigate, they did nothing so far except for criticizing us. We end up going back to the market , lucky they have a security camera and everything was recorded. We send that tape to the other company and got our $600.

Overall, Progressive did nothing for us , we have to do everything to get the money that we were supposed to get in an accident that was not our fault. After 10 years a house and 2 perfect car records my boyfriend and I are done with progressive.

If you're looking place to burned your money and get shitty services, Progressive is the place for you.

FYI. I'm now insured with the other insurance company .... So far they've been great.

I have been with progressive for 5 months & I chose them b/c my mom is an insurance agent through a 3rd party & said that they are the best. I changed from USAA & don't get me wrong I loved them, however I filed bankruptcy against them & was no longer allowed to pay my bills online. So I ended up rearending someone 5 months after I bought my car. It was still drivabe & the truck I hit had no damage (it was a really really big truck). I called progressive crying & they were so nice. It took about 1 1/2 hrs for a claims rep to call me back. He got a reservation for me at enterprise & I had a rental car at about 5:30 & my accident was at 2:15. Come to find out the car was totalled which I was not expecting at all, but then again it is a Kia & they do not hold their value. They paid my car off completetly (but I bought my car wholesald). My entire claim was done in less than 1 week. It was the smoothest experience I have ever had in my life. I figured my rates woud go up, but with my new car they actually went down $10 a month. I'm not sure if I had a great experience b/c they didn't have to pay for the other persons vehicle or medical expenses, but so far from what I've seen I would recommend them.

In November of 2008 I was involved in a head on collision where a car has hit a dump truck then hit me. The accident was not my fault in anyway and I was seriously injured in both knees and in the abdominal area. The other driver was from out of town and driving a Hertz rental vehicle. My insurance coverage was through Progressive Insurance Company. After the accident Progressive FAILED at protecting me as a client.

The video of the accident was captured on camera, I was in the red Toyota.
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c55_1226702550

As you can see the accident was a bad one. The other driver hit me doing over 60 mph.

I had to try and pursue the other driver for my damage claim, which to this date (May 7th, 2009) has not been paid, nor have I seen a dime for my property damage. I work as a contractor, and can no longer lift or work on my legs. This is well documented in the many visits to the Orthopedic doctors. I have internal abdominal scaring from the seatbelt in my vehicle that may or may not heal the doctor said for the next year or so.

I had extended coverage through Progressive in case of an accident, I wanted to make sure if I was hurt I would be taken care of so I raised my policy limits. After the accident I put in a claim for missing time at work. My work required me to lift 80 lbs drill bits and shoring blocks. I don't make much at work but I really enjoyed being outdoors and working for myself. The woman who handled my case (Donna Lunquest) at progressive said I needed to send her my 1040's, and that I did with other supporting documents of my income.

After a month she failed to honor my request for lost income under New York State Law that requires Personal Income Protection (PIP). She kept telling me I needed MORE AND MORE documentation until I got to the point where I could not provide any more. She told me I had to have legal notarized statements from the people I did work for for the past year, which is almost impossible to get. This is how an insurance company
treats a client?

I have never collected on an insurance policy for lost income in my life and when I really needed it Progressive, my own insurance carrier, did everything possible to not pay a dime of it. Trying to pay more for extended coverage with progressive does NO GOOD, they will fight you all the way, that is their business and they are good at hindering you until you can take no more. I since then have lost my apartment, could not pay my bills and now live in my RV, homeless with my cat. I had to throw away many of my possessions since I had no place to store them. I am in constant pain every day and hope someday this will heal. I am a Marine Corps veteran, and now join the ranks of homeless veterans in our country thanks to progressive and this accident.

Please go with anyone else! I have been treated like a maniac and a fool. I have not been able to get accurate information out of a claim's representative. I have never had such a horrible customer experience in my life, and a car accident is a situation in which good customer service is really needed. The low rates are not worth it, I am switching companies immediately.

Progressive is very rude I had the pleasure with the Claims Department the rates are low but it is not worth it at all I am very sorry I changed companies.
My Son was involved in an accident Progressive made it seem like he was a wanted criminal or some scum off of the earth (Military intelligence) never even had a parking ticket and received the Presidents award last year from his High School.
Each time I would question why the police report or something did not seem right the Progressive Csr would go that is what your Son said I said my Son did not write the police report it was so misquoted the other car was speeding no seat belts and my Son had 3 witness’s and everyone had a yellow light {imagine that} also my son still was at fault 100%. I am not questioning fault but be fare Progressive Customer service rep quoted speeding is hard to prove, seat belt law is a slap on the wrist I don’t know how the laws are in Georgia but Pennsylvania if you are hurt in automobile accident and did not have a seat belt on you will not be paid 100% for your injuries and speeding you can tell by impact of car.
I work for an insurance company and regret it everyday I changed for cheaper rates because that is what you end up getting CHEAP CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will be going back to my previous Insurance Company after accident is complete.
The rental car that is a joke! Enterprise in Hinesville Ga wanted my Son to walk back to base it would of took him 3 hours are they nuts after he was out in the field all day when he returned the car The Man asked my son if he needed a ride back to base my Son said yes he threw his arms up and said I will working 5 minutes past my shift Soliders give their life to make us safe and you have a idiot make a comment like that mind you
he was at the same time arguing with a Sgt whom also was in their at the same time ENTERPRISE DOES NOT SUPPORT TROOPS. While to end my story probably I will probably end up in court and if it wasn’t for the Sgt in their at the same time my Son would have had to walk alone and he does not know the area.

I had progressive and hadn't had a claim in 5 yrs and someone ran the stop sign hit my car and it was totaled. They do not want to pay claims and wasn't professional at all during the entire process. Everytime they were suppose to come to my home they were hours late and still wouldn't have everything they together when they finally showed up. Also their coverage is misleading. They make you believe you are getting 25,055 when you're actually only getting 25,000 of coverage just like all the other companies. This company is a fraud and I'm proud to say they will not get another dollar from me. I recommend Geico or State Farm.

Seems like people either love this company or hate this company. Did you know that Progressive pays for vet bills for pets that are injured in an automobile accident? I don't think any other automobile insurance carrier offers this.

Regardless of how the consumer feel about progressive, they are a honest ,reputable repair shop's worst nightmare. You either refuse to work for them , or accept their repair est that are the are about 60% of the actual repair cost. They have the lowest repair rates nationwide.
How can the 3rd largest, pay so little?
It seems like the repair shops are footing the bill for the LAME tv comercials with the Bimbo, not to mention progressive stadium?
Not much different then say AIG ?

Worst ever. Was in a wreck where some moron parked his vehicle on a blind corner on a highway. In the fast lane. But because I rear ended him (was only able to brake to about 10mph on the wet road w/no abs) it was "automatically" my fault. I escalated the case as far as I could with Progressive and they all couldn't care less. But 8 months later expenses started to pile up for the idiot I hit, and suddenly Progressive was VERY interested in my case and all the little details which would help them deny his claims. I told them no way and to only ever contact me again if legally obligated to, then switched off these scumbags as soon as I could. I wouldn't wish Progressive on anybody.

I've had Progressive for close to 10 years. Tonight on the way home I slid on ice and rearended another driver. I filed a claim online as soon as I got home. I received a phone call from a rep less than 30 minutes from hitting "submit claim." After 5 minutes on the phone he told me they will contact the other driver and take care of her damages. I expect my rate will go up slightly after filing a claim, but they took over from here and I feel 100% relieved!

I dare you to look up Safeco (aka Progressive) in the BBB,anywhere. UNSAT. I'll cut to the chase. Hit by someone with Progressive Insurance? Get a lawyer. All states have a state bar referral servcice. You can get a 1/2 hour for about $30. All you need to take these clowns to small claims and get your vehicle fixed properly. Then get on your State representatives case about why this company is able to operate. This is a dishonest company

Their Privacy Policy is a lie! I signed up with progressive after having returned from being overseas for the past three years. I'm very protective of my personal information. No business knows my name let along my new address -- except Progressive. Four days later the junk mail begins, first from "Travelers". On the Progressive website they claim, "We don't sell our customer lists or share your information with other companies to offer their products to you. You don't need to "opt-out." LIE!! In the fine print they say, "We will share information about you only as permitted by law. We will not share your Nonpublic Personal Information with other companies for their marketing purposes without your consent. There is no need to "opt out" or tell us not to do this." LIE!! Here is the twist... Apparently they consider my full name and address is to be public information and enter it into their spam machinery of "Recipients include, for example, our family of insurance companies..." SHAME ON YOU PROGRESSIVE!!

I have been with Progressive for less than one month. I switched from Grange b/c Progressive saved me a lot of money. My daughter totalled one of our cars and less than a week later, I have my check for the car. It was visibly totalled, so there was no question about that, but the adjuster was very courteous and fair and would have settled the claim the day after, but the tow yard where the car was being held had limited hours and he could not get in to see the car, which was behind a privacy fence. I had the same problem, so I know he was being truthful. Very Satisfied with the auto adjuster. Med-Pay person also called me right away, but bills are still pending. She was very nice and helpful with all my questions, but can't comment beyond that b/c they don't have the bills yet to pay.

I have been a customer of progressive for 12 years and have always paid for the additional uninsured motorist protection. I was properly parked in a marked parking spot and somebody hit the front of my car causing about $1500 worth of damage. Progressive denied coverage because the person that hit me drove off and did not leave a note. The ONE time I have counted on Progressive they have bitterly refused to help me out. I will not pay another dime to this sham of a company.

A week ago a lady insured by progressive hit my truck while it was parked. I had 2 estimates done and they were for 1100-1250. Progressive cut me a check for 400, and said they wouldn't replace our bumper because there was a small dent on the other side of it from previous damage so it was already damaged and they didn't have to fix what their policy holder damaged. They also said since their policy holder was rubbing off paint on my truck they couldn't prove all of the damage was from her because some of the paint was no longer there!! It is even in the police report where myself and others kept telling her to stop rubbing off the paint. She knew what she was doing her son owns a body shop in town!

Had an accident in my driveway! Progressive was quick to act to repair my car and the car I hit. Customer service was very good and people were helpful until I went to pick up my car! The repairs were fine but...while at the shop, the back window of my convertible was severly damaged. I was told it was damaged when I dropped my car off and therefore, neither Progressive or the body shop was lible for the damages. I could pay another deductable and they would fix it. I was told by Progressive, my car was old and therefore the window was probably brittle. Well, it wasn't! Progressive will not return my phone calls. They want me to disappear! I will but, not without a fight. I will shout this from the hightest rooftops! THe whole thing has been very upsetting. Silly me, I thought insurance was for me not the repair shops they do business with. Maybe I was raised in the old school!

I was recently in an accident where the other driver was at fault. I spoke with my progressive representative at 5:00p.m. He had me in a rental car within 30 minutes and called me the next morning to report that my car was at the body shop and being fixed. Progressive representatives called me every couple days to check on me and report progress on my car. They dealt with the insurance company of the driver at fault, and I did not have to do anything. Everyone I spoke with was very nice and helpful. I would recommend Progressive to everyone. They were wonderful!

I have a painful experience w/ Progressive and I still can't believe they actually have a person like that represents their company.   He came out to estimate my car  and promise to get back to me, I called and called he never returned my call after 3 months and after I called the top manager.  I supposed to get back $1000 and he sent me back only $500.  I called and called nothing happen.  I called the manager again and finally receive another $500 after 1 yr.  Americans please save your troubles, don't buy your auto insurance thru. A friend of mine was rear ended by a progressive "covered" driver. The driver of the offending car admitted fault and the police came and insurance cards were exchanged. Meanwhile my friend (the victim) develops neck and back pain. My friend (the victim) barely 18 years old, is called less than a week after the accident by progressive (enter Super-Cheater!) and is asked to appear at their office for an interview. She went in by herself and she was hurriedly given only 2 options:
1.) A $500 check.
2.) A $500 credit for medical care and a $250 check to pay for her inconvenience.
They offer this before she'd even gone to get her injuries evaluated. Thinking these are the only options available, she opts for the $500 medical and $250 check. They have her sign papers(if you really care about the victims, write those things in English).  When she asks about the "lawyer" and "victim's insurance agent" space on the pages were for she was told to not worry about it and that normally they don't fill that out.
She goes to a chiropractor for a checkup and is told that the medical costs would run higher than $500. She calls progressive to tell them this and the representative replies that there's nothing they can do since she signed the papers already.
Her insurance company called her afterwards and were pretty surprised that progressive already called and railroaded their settlement through on her but also conceded that there was not much they could do to make them cover her medical bills in full.
In all I feel they took advantage of a young, innocent adult that was relying on them to do their job and cover for the victims of their client's bad driving. Good job guys! I hope you feel proud of yourselves for tricking and ripping off a barely-18 year-old, injured girl. .oO(Super-Cheater: My job here is done! Up up and away!)

Progressive keeps ripping me off. My car insurance rates keep going up and up. My motor vehicle record hasn't changed, my car is older, I'm older, I haven't been in any accidents, so why? They say that premiums for my area are going up. So what do I do, I get a new quote from Progressive, with the exact same address and info, but not telling them I'm a current progressive customer. MY NEW QUOTE WAS $150 LESS THAN MY CURRENT PREMIUM!

Also, on another note, a few years ago I got a mailing, and I was part of a class action law suit against Progressive for changing people's rates based on credit reports when they weren't supposed to, or something like that. Of course this was after I had already signed back up with them.

My car was damaged during an accident while my car was parked. When the agent first came over things seem very optimistic: he surveyed the damage, told me that we would pursue the other driver at fault, and get me a check quickly. Things quickly went downhill. Despite the fact that my car was parked progressive tired to write it off as collision even though it was clearly comprehensive as I wasnt even in the car, of course my collision deductible was higher. Then it took the adjuster almost 3 months to get the police report on the accident, and at which point they still hadnt even tracked down one of the drivers. 2 more months later I get a call saying theyve determined the driver of the vehicle was uninsured so I would be getting a check because I have uninsured driver coverage. Ive been waiting still nothing. Everyone Ive talked to in the company is evasive they are the worst insurance company Ive dealt with.

I have over 9 year experience in auto claims, I had to take the progressive job when my wife was transfered to Hawaii. Progressive Hawaii has to be the worst place to work in the county. Out of the 15 claims adjusters who work the islands maybe 2 or 3 are somewhat happy, and thats only because they are too stupid to relize the are being taken advantage of. The manager don't know more than someone with a year or two of expierence, they spend there time trying to undercut what a shop really needs for the repairs to be done right. The Network shop on Hawaii are the worst, all of the good shops refuse to do business with progressive because they dont know what they are doing. I would live with the dent before I went to a progressive repair shop.

I worked for Progressive for 4 years. I am certified property damage 2 level and PIP trained as well. I will tell you that the average "life span" of an adjuster at progressive is 3 years. Think about that for a second if you carry Progressive. There is a very good chance that the person that is looking at your car has a year or less experience. How much faith does that give you? Plus that 9-5 hrs that you think he or she may have.. Try 6AM-10PM on an average. All I can say is AMEN I saw the light and got the hell out of there as fast as I could. Good luck to you employees who read this. Hope you have all your anti anxiety prescriptions up to date. You are going to need it! Progressive does have great medical coverage.

I am a customer service rep for progressive. The three most common complaints I hear from customers (in no particular order) 1)you added my (son, daughter, live-in boyfriend, grandma, cat, etc...) to my policy without my permission. 2)You are charging me for coverage that I never signed up for. 3)My rate keeps going up! The hardest to respond to is #3.. because after all, the bottom line for 99% of us is price when comes to auto insurance..that is until a claim happens; but that's another story. Insurance rating factors, laws, regulations are always..and I mean always being challenged, changed or tweaked; which means the way individual's policies are being rated also change. That means your premium can and will change for no apparent reason to you. It happens all the time, and the only way to explain it is by saying rates across the board have been increased or Progressive had to change the way it rates your policy in certain areas, causing the rate increase. Even as the explanation comes out of my mouth, I know the customer thinks I am BSing him/her.. but it's the best answer you are going to get unless you want to learn the absolute mountain of ever-changing insurance technical rating mumbo-jumbo. #1 and #2 are easy to answer... You just have to read your policy contract!! If you are of driving age and living in the household, or have regular access to a vehicle on the policy... you must be listed on the policy. The Claims dept WILL add you if during a claims investigation it comes out that you have been driving a vehicle we insure... but we are not collecting premium for the risk you represent. I know it seems unfair... believe me, I have asked 100 questions about this practice to my supervisors...but it really is the only way to guarantee that Progressive is getting their money for the risk they are insuring. #2 comes about most often because people don't follow up with forms that need to be signed in order to reject coverages such as uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. If Progressive doesn't have these rejection forms on file, they HAVE TO add the coverage back on within a certain amount of days. It's up to your particular state to set that mandate. It kills me that any customer would think that a customer service rep would lie to you. They have no reason, no benefit to gain from lying to a customer. Granted, they may tell you something that is incorrect, due to not really knowing your situation fully or not knowing the insurance guidelines well enough, etc... but they have no reason to knowingly tell you lies. First off, all calls into progressive are recorded... and of course that means if you want to dispute something that was said during a conversation with a rep, it's saved for you! The rep knows this, the customer knows this too (or should). Secondly, if you are asking "what if" questions (ex. What if my car ran off the road, struck somebody's chicken coop and then burst into flames as it rolled into a nearby schoolyard full of toddlers? Am I covered?)you will not get true answers. Not because the rep is lying to you, but because each claim situation is different and it is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS (no exceptions) up to the adjuster who is assigned your claim to make the final determination of fault, value of losses, payouts, etc... So a customer serv rep cannot truly answer your what ifs in regards to potential claims. In fact, we are trained to not answer these questions, and instead refer the customer to the claims dept.

They suck... just left the company after being disallusioned regarding liability decisions. When liability is very clear in favor of PRG, they are quick to react. When liability is against the company, they drag their feet hoping people will go away (or keep bills low). And then valuations change dramatically once the injured parties retain an attorney (and things move again). I strongly urge everybody involved in an accident with Progressive to obtain an attorney, see your family doctor and dig in to get everything that is due to you...

I would NEVER go back to Progressive, or recommend them to ANYONE. We had them for 7 years, and never had any accidents, until my husband was side swipped by an uninsured, unlicensed driver (she was from another country, driving a relatives vehicle while visiting) as she was changing lanes on the expressway. When I contacted Progressive they said not to worry, they would take care of everything. After not hearing back from them for quite some time I called. I was told that everything had been taken care of. They sure did take care of everything, for HER. They PAID to have HER vehicle fixed and raised our rates! When I questioned their decision the only answer that I got was "thats how it worked out". To this day I'll never understand their decision.

Where to begin...I work for Progressive and have handled claims for over 6 years. I've read the reviews and offer the following information: Progressive is a very fair and reasonal insurance company in my opinion. I find it very difficult to resolve claims with other carriers and often end up doing a lot of their work for their customers just to get it off my desk. With any company you are going to get employees who over step their authority, over promise, under deliver, and (as human nature) make mistakes! The cost of insurance is contining to rise year after year for a number of reasons, the most prevalent is FRAUD, the others are in attentive driving (running lights/signs), distracted driving (ie cell phones, eating, radio). As long as the cost of claims rises so will the rates...across the board. Do your part to not contribute to the above, and report fraud if you see it. Often times people come into the process angry and over excited about what their expectations are. They make much of their decisions on hear say, rumors, and cliche. This is not fast food. A car takes time to repair. And speaking of fast food for goodness sake read the policy and the coverages you buy. I can not tell you the amount of times a speak to a customer who thinks they have rental when they did not buy rental. The policy is "a la carte" You don't get the fries for free when you only buy the drink and the burger. Most people spend $100-$250 per month on car insurance alone. Is it too much to ask if you know what you are paying for. Insurance is not a savings account!! It is easier to pay a claim then deny it, believe me when I tell you. If your claim is denied I can guarantee its because; first the insured never paid the bill, someone is lying or not telling the whole truth, refuses to accept responsibility for their mistake, or lack of evidence. He said She said does not cut it, guess what? Both insurance companies have to belive thier insured customer. Even if someone is lying, If I can't prove thier a liar its immaterial. I leave you with this quote from A FEW GOOD MEN...."It does not matter what is the truth, It's what I can prove"

progressive customer backed into my stationary car. Lying fart that he was, he contested fault. To progressives credit, they worked with me to establish guilt and once I gave them a sound argument of how my car had to be stationary at the point of impact (based on the assessment of the relative damage to the 2 cars), they believed me over him and offered to fix my car. Thats where the good stuff stopped and the not so good started.
The only body shop they said I could use was 35 miles away in woodbridge, VA. That was really inconvenient given my work schedules and its not like my home Fairfax lacks good body shops. The clerk there was horribly rude. They kept my car for more than double the time that other body shops told me was needed. When I asked the clerk why they needed it for so long I got back We are giving you a rental car, so why do you have a problem with the duration?. Jeez!
Anyway,, the fix job was good, but a 3 doors down CD was missing from my car. I am 100% sure that it was in there when I gave it to them, cause I was listening to it as I drove in. Again, rude clerk was no help and I never got it back.

Progressive is a terrible and heartless company that is run by a bunch criminals. They have made millions of dollars by insuring uninsurable drivers and then by hiring more expensive lawyers. The drunk driver that hit us was given a slap on the wrist by the courts and then we got a slap in the face by Progressive. I have submitted this story to MADD and am working with legislators to target drunk divers and Progressive auto insurance for their treatment of victims. They have ran my credit record no less than 5 times and have subpeonaed every record from school to work since kindergarten. They continually call my family and friends and harrass all of my former and current employer. It is abominable the way that they would treat a victim, just to avoid paying $5000 in medical costs.

As a former Progressive Insurance customer, I can now say that I have no desire to support a company who calls a former client a liar, a fool, and refuses to cover the medical costs for a victims hardship. I believe that any ethical and legitimate company who is making over 300 million dollars in net profit a year and touts superlative customer service would cover their driver's negligence by having their victims' medical expenses paid. My neighbour and I were struck by a car whose driver had Progressive insurance, not only was Progressive staunch in their position that we were at fault, but once we were awarded the PIP and the bodily injury claims- our medical expenses still superceded their "benefits!" This only goes to show that they lack integrity, honesty, and a progressive stand on making sure that their victims care is ensured. Progressive Insurance is not what its name advertises- it ought to be Conservative Insurance, the brand that victimises their vicims through inaction, and character defamation in order to avoid paying benefits. I am disapointed with the entire industry honestly- it will only pay out on the minimum requirement possible, its slow to act on its part, and making the process as bureaucratic and complicated as possible only enforces the utility of attornies who only eat more of the profit margin and drag out proceedings longer. So what can Progressive do?? BE PROGRESSIVE!!! Take care of your victims, as they may become Progressive customers of the future, and don't make false acusations against the victims- havent they been through enough? Being hit by a car is enough trauma without the fiscal, and bureaucratic attitudes that insurance companies take. I was a Progressive Insurance customer until I decided that car ownership wasnt as feasible for me as I dwell downtown in a city- I began to use public transit and rely on walking. Its more cost effective, its healthier, more evironmentally and socially responsible and less stressful to be a non car owner. From the HORRIBLE experience of having to deal with health care providors, attornies, Progressive claim adjustors as a result of this accident, I am confident that I will be an unlikely Progressive Insurance customer again. I never had any issues when I used their service, but being on the other end of it as a victim who was crossing in a cross walk with the right of way- I experienced an entirely different perspective. I have been a victimised victim. NO ONE Should have to go through this EVER!

Hit a deer and had to file a comp. claim with Progressive. They totaled my car, which was a 3.5 year old Saturn SL1, but gave me a very fair settlement and didn't hike my premium at its renewal. A lot of people rating these insurance companies don't realize that they are essentially paying for protection from serious liability, not a few hundred dollars here-and-there. The moral of the story: Sh** happens - don't get pissed when you have to pay a couple hundred dollars out of your own pocket after totaling a car. Just be glad you're okay and don't owe $100,000 to someone. Progressive is a great company if you're a safe driver because their rates are low. If you drive like an idiot, you may be better off with some of the other insurance companies that subsidize policies for idiot drivers by hiking premiums for safe drivers. Actually, you are probably best off learning to drive, but that's another argument.

I work for progressive and I have not seen any other insurance company or customer service provider period who assists their customers with better service. their very curteous and prompt. I call my cell phone customer service line and they will hang up on me if they dont know the answers to my questions. They will not make any out going calls to their customers unless its to collect a pass due balance. Progressive is the best and you would be suprised how many customers stay with progressive even if they found a better rate else where just because of the wonderful services that are provided. I know cause i'm even one of the customers and I dont get any type of discount for being a progressive employer/client.

I used to work for Progressive as a claims representative in Illinois. Fist of all, the reps are usually fair... it is their managers that you need to look out for, they control what the adjusters can do. If you are injured by a Progressive insured, then they push the rep to meet with you to "discuss" the injury process. Basically, they just want to see if they can get you to settle early to and save them money. This is viewed to be an early settlement opportunity (ESO). If you had only gone to the hospital, then don't expect more than $500 for your pain and suffering (p/s). If you go to the hospital and to your family doctor, then they will go up to $750 for your p/s. If you have an ER visit and more than 1 follow-up visit, then they will offer up to 1500 for your p/s. But what about your continued doctor visits? If you sign a release before you are done with treatment, then they will only pay up to the release amount. If you sign a medical authorization form, then they WILL use that information to argue the best reasons to deny you a fair settlement and offer you a reduced amount for your p/s. Best bet, DO NOT meet with them until you are ready to settle, do not sign a medical authorization form and just give them the records and bills you want to give them (They will threaten a reduced settlement if you do this, but the threat is empty!). Just wait to meet with them until you are done treating so that all bills are covered and you can negotiate a better settlement for your p/s.

i work for progressive as a claims rep and i deal with alot of insurance companies on a daily basis when arguing liability and resolving claims. I have to say progressive is the most honest and straight forward insurance company out there. We do not just tell customers what they want to hear we tell them the truth and reality of the situation. As far as the gripes about the use of aftermarket parts this is standard practice in the insurance industry and if it weren't premiums would be triple what they are now. Progressive offers a lifetime guarantee on any repairs done by one of their recommened shops. How many other insurance companies can you say the same about?

Progressive and their phone reps are a bunch of liars!!!!! I had my car boken into 4 years ago and at the time I had no glass coverage on my car. After this I called progressive and asked to have glass coverage added to my policy. Their rep told me that in order to do this I needed to change my deductible from $500 to $250. At the time I was so mad at the entire situation I agreed...stupid me. Fast forward 4 years and my car, 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport, gets broken into again, a half an hour ago to be exact. (Aparently the crackhead really wanted the $1.25 in change I had in my ashtray.) I called Progressive just to verify that I had glass coverage and low and behold I don't...but I've been paying more for my policy the past 4 years because of the $250 deductible versus the $500 I previously had. I will be changing insurance companies tomorrow because PROGESSIVE EMPLOYEES ARE ALL LIARS AND MISLEAD THEIR CUSTOMERS.

My new car was rear ended by a women who had Progressive Insurance. Progressive accepted their client is at fault and convinced me that they will take care of the damage. I agreed to them based on their promise to use original factory parts. Instead they replaced the damaged one with after market bumper and a lousy paint job by their approved body shop. The bumper does not match with company bumper and it did not even fit properly. Progressive compromised with passenger safety. Beware of their concierge service. They are to save each and every penny. They promise good and deliver worst...

This comment is ridiculous! 7. Rocketqueen , on 3/13/2005 10:25:00 AM, said: I have been with pretty much every car insurance company there is, trying to find the best deal over the past 10 years, and I must say that Progressive has BY FAR been the best! I like their convenient website, their friendly customer service, and most of all what I like is my very inexpensive insurance! The only reason they're the cheapest right not is because they don't respond or want to pay claims when THEIR own insured is at fault! They even asked me if I recalled the condition of their insureds vehicle when he hit me! Yeah, they suck. Don't be loyal to your insurance company because you have your heads in the clouds! They'll screw you when your not looking. Oh yeah, they offered me $250 to settle. So far, my car has cost me $6200, medical is over $20000 (including a hospital stay), $700 on a loaner, and around $3000 in lost wages...yeah, I got an attorney. Why couldn't they have just done the right thing instead of sending the 17 year old uneducated kid to offer me $250!!???
