01/12/2006 | Let Go was better than Under My Skin. It had better songs, and showed more of her real image, and not the lovesick kind of one she showed on her second album. I'm sure we all memorized the words to Sk8er Boi, whether voluntarily or not.

01/12/2006 | I love Let Go. Every song was catchy and I listen to the whole cd through-usually I get bored and skip to the next cd. Not here. I listen to them all. Complicated is the catchiest song on the album but it can make your ears and head scream for relief after about 10 listens or so, as you wonder whether any other song can possibly get this one out of your head. Sk8er Boi is the worst song, by far. Oh, it's good like all songs on this album, but it has its moments. Like, her songwriting can get just plain embarrassing. 'He was a boy, she was a girl, can I make it any more obvious?' and 'He was a punk, she did ballet, what more can I say?' are especially awkward and make you wince and hope no one else was listening at these points. But overall Let Go is very wicked awesome and is worth a listen. Just beware of Sk8er Boi and you'll be OK.

08/18/2005 | I surprisingly enjoyed almost every song on the album. I was surprised at what a talented singer and song writer she is. I could relate to a lot of the stuff she was writing about. There are many great songs on this CD and was very pleased.

Ever heard of Yanni from Greece? He can't even read sheet music nor write it, but he plays by ear! Probably because he got a high IQ! He's a New Age musician. But this lame-o can't even write good lyrics. Her IQ must be .5 or something, the way she pisses, moans and rats on people, and she can't even play a guitar! I don't know why anyone would waste their time listening to this chick! Heck, I can even play better than her-on the piano-BY EAR! It's not fair people like Avril has all that money! What a snob...

02/21/2005 | One of the best CDs I have ever listened to so far. Avril has a great voice and her music is just awesome. She is not punk, and I don't think she's trying to be like people say. This one is worth your money.

04/22/2004 | I like every song! Wow! Talk about rare. I hate it when I buy a cd and get just one good song, a could have been good song, and a bunch of useless noise! I stopped buying CD's for that reason. But I got into a music spurt and purchased Avril's CD along with a few others and I was blown away! I really like every song! And Her CD was the only one in the bunch truly impressed me.

when i usually buy an album..there is always atleast one song i dislike on it..but i loved everyone of avril's songs!

07/01/2003 | I like Avril. She's not what I'd ordinarily listen to, but I'm willing to lend her an ear because she seems to have several solid songs. Not all are great lyrical masterpieces, however. Complicated tends to irritate me--have her come back when she's 25, facing taxes, living in a so-so marriage, with two kids AND trying to balance her career, then the song will be believable. And Sk8ter Boi...it is just plain BAD. That will one day be her coup de gras of embarrassment. I have to wonder...Did Avril realize when she was writing this song that Boy George coined the term "BOI" back in the late '80s to describe himself when he "came out of the closet"?

No, Avril is not punk to any extent and her music isn't that either. But I don't think people should be jumping down her case like this. Seriously, that's just wrong.
And to Devilman, (yes, I know about sid and nancy), if someone has to go around talking about how punk of the truest sense they are because they have a different colored mohawk, they are the posers. This whole thing is based on what ppl dress like so just give it a break.

05/22/2003 |  I'm sorry to break it to some of you, but I can assure that what Avril, and in effect her CD, is not anything new. My sister borrowed a copy from a friend, and being the open minded individual I am, I gave it an objective listen. Before I go any further, I want to establish the fact that I am a punk of the truest sense. The Clash, Sex Pistols and Ramones (all of which are better bands more than words can express campaired to Avril) are commonplace in my musical repertoire. I have mohawk hair that I dye it regularly in various colors not found in nature. I believe that safety pins are fashion accessories. And I can truly say that, while she may look the part, Avril is nowhere near punk musically. Her songs are sour-coated candy pop, and her substance in devoid of anything new, let alone revolutionary. Don't buy into this sad corporate attempt at punk rock, there is so much better to be had. On a final note, anybody that claims that Avril is new, fresh or punk, and does know who Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious are, then they probably have their head up their ass.

04/21/2003 | Avril Lavigne I would recomend to everyone from ages 10 and up. Her songs tell interesting stories. Most people never listen to her and says she's horrible. I love her music and I could listen to it all day. She is deffenetly not like Brittany Spears.(whitch is a good thing). Most people think of Sk8ter Boi and Complicated when someone mentions Avril Lavigne. But I like "My world" ,"Anything but ordinary" and "Naked" the best. Avril Rocks

02/07/2003 | No, she's not Britney Spears. Which is a good thing. But she's also not spectacularly good--she's like a lower-content version of Alanis. Which might give her somewhat more staying power--as opposed to the new 2000 version of the 80s mall girl. But there are a lot of people out there who're better. On the whole, she's going to be forgotten by her adolescent fans when they grow up. And the person commenting on not criticizing should probably stop looking at rating sites. At any rate, it's a passable listen, but not worth the money. Download the MP3s instead.

01/22/2003 | I think little 'pip squeak' and 'megs' should watch their mouths!!! don't know what they listen to but like everyone says - "if you ain't got anythin nice to say, then don't say anythin at all", avril has a beautiful voice and really knows how to sing her songs!!! Are they musicians? probably not by the sounds of that. It takes a hell of alot to get a song heard and played all over the world, damn, i'm finding it hard just to finish putting a band together, then you have to write the songs, and good ones at that, and then you have to get producers attentions! Stop your critisism and get a life. If you don't like her songs then don't kisten to them! i'll do enough listening for the both of us!!! and everyone else for that matter!!!
Avril, your beautiful, don't let any of these fools get you down, if they keep hasseling you then send them my way, i have a fan club here that will sought them out.

12/30/2002 | I hate Avril. Such an Anti-Britney, Britney could sing and write her own music. Avril can't. I mean couldn't at least write one measly song. Britney wrote EVERY song on her own album. And I saw Avril live. She lipsyncs. I saw Britney live two years ago, not one lipsync out of her. So which leads me to my final conclusion. Avril rocks! You go girl, from Jorgan Von Stingle.

Most of the people who say all that, haven't even giving her a chnace and really listened to her music! If you just listen to her album ("Let Go"), you'd see how talented she is! Avril has a great voice and all her songs really have something to say, unlike Britney and Christina's.

They could be something if they ditch the whiney, stright haired, pop singing, talented poser that is Avril Lavigne. Want amazing lyrics written by the people who sing the song,play the music for it? Lyrics that are so amazing I can't get their cds out of my player? Try No Doubt. Gwen, Tony, Adrian, and Tom. Not Gwen Stefani, single artist. No Doubt. Soooooo much better.

So what if she's apparently 'no different' from Britney or Christina (according to pip_squeak in the next comment...which i totally object to)??! At least her music is actually different and genuinely written by herself!

09/22/2002 | Let me just say that I am sick and tired of this loud mouth telling the press and everyone how she's "real" and how she's not like Britney Spears. Avril Lavigne is just the latest in a line of opportunists cashing in on the anti-Britney/anti-teen pop backlash. Her "punk" style of music is of no greater lyrical significance than that of Britney or Christina. Complicated and Sk8ter Boi are POP songs not likely to be remembered five years from now. So what if Avril doesn't dress like Britney? It doesn't mean she's a musical prodigy. Yeah, the background music in Avril's songs are slightly edgier but the songs themselves are pure dribble. Trying to establish a name for oneself in the music industry by criticizing and putting down others shows a real lack character and self-identity. I see through Avril's tough girl act. She's really not that different from all the other pop acts out there, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton and Pink included. Hypocrites!
