Gillibrand was the surprise pick of accidental Governor David Paterson (D) to succeed Hillary Clinton who became Secretary of State in the Barack Hussein regime.

Gillibrand was a newly minted obscure member of the U. S. House from upstate New York, but has a good chance to be elected.

Paterson weathered the drama of the Cuomo and Caroline Kennedy boomlets and appointed Gillibrand.
