(3) 05/25/2003 | We just got through watching the better part of the 2003 CMT awards, and right after it was over I told my mother I thought it may well be the worst awards show I had ever seen. She even agreed with me, which usually never happens. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE country music. My main problem with this show is that they seem to be rewarding the people with the biggest cross-over potential, not the singers of real country. Another problem I have with it is the fact that they gave an award for best dressed artist in a video. Does anybody really care? Tim McGraw won by default because everybody else looked like they were wearing thrift store rejects. Faith Hill looked like a hooker in her video, but she was nominated for best dressed!!! And another thing, I'm sick of all these people benefitting from the war effort. Supporting the troops is an admirable thing, but Toby Keith has made several songs and videos claiming it's to support the troops, but after awhile it just gets more and more obvious that he's doing it to get publicity and more record sales. It's shameless and immoral.
