Prime Pacific Stainless Steel Pasta Machine 4

I love this machine, I make pasta weekly and have not had any problems. The noodles do stick in the cutting attachments if the dough is too thin, or too wet. I have not had any problems with my thickness or the dial not working well, but I only use 3 of the settings(7,3,1). The one drawback I have encountered is the height, like many other people it is a pain to clamp it down because it has to be on an edge. It is also hard to clamp it so you can turn the handle with out whacking your knuckles on the clamp. It has been a durable machine, and fits my needs very well. I would recommend this machine to others, I even bought one for my mother and sister. :)

I can see there is trememdous variability in the quality of this machine, as some can't use it at all due to mechanical failures, and others have no trouble at all with it. For myself, I have had no trouble using it at all. It has worked flawlessly for about 10 batches of pasta; sheets, spaghetti noodles, and flat noodles. I discovered through trial and error that one cup of flour, one egg and a couple tablespoons of milk makes enough pasta for one meal (6 servings). It also makes enough pasta to work with. More than that gets too big for one batch, I had to subdivide in order to work with it. Also, I discovered that thin sheets work great for lasagna, but if you leave it a bit thicker (3 or 4) it goes through the noodle cutters much better. The thinner sheets do not get cut very well in the noodle cutters. I can make up one batch of pasta in about 20 minutes, start to finish. Something else that is in the manual, that should be emphasized is, never wash the machine with water AT ALL. If you do, it will rust. Just brush off the extra flour and put it away.

This is of course, not, built like a fine Swiss watch; However, it does work as represented, and made a nice batch of pasta. For the price it certainly does the job and does it well. Making pasta requires more work than most people believe it will take, and it's never like watching Mario on TV who makes it look effortless. You have to run the dough through the rollers several times, folding it into thirds and advancing to thinner settings one click at a time. Don't forget to make and throw away your first batch as this ships with a protective coating of machine oil on the parts, and I wouldn't recommend eating Chinese machine oil in any diet. Then remember that you NEVER wash this machine unless you like rust.

So if you're wondering if this is too cheap to be true, the answer is no, it's fine and will work. OTOH If you expect to pay $10 for a $250 pasta making machine you will probably be disappointed.

Ragged box, two pieces of parts dropped which took me 1 hour to fix, and this 'new' item also have some dry flour in gear!
