ViewHD 2 Port HDMI 1x2 Powered Splitter 5

I was asked to share my experience with this HDMI Powered Splitter 1x2 V1.3 Certified HDTV 1080P. The only thing I might add to an all ready extensive review of this product is about the High-Res Audio applications. I bought mine for use with a Lumagen Video Processor and a PIONEER KURO Front Projector (a re-badged JVC DLA LCOS Projector). I needed to send a 1080P image from my Blu-Ray player to my video processor and on to my projector. Using the splitter I was also able to transmit a DTS Master Audio and a Dolby True HD audio track to my Pre-Amp. The splitter handled both the decoded High-Res audio and the raw bit-stream versions. The splitter handled all the HDCP hand-shakes with ease. The only reason this is worth mentioning is in another review it was specified not to connect the splitter before the receiver (pre-amp) as the TV would cause High-Res audio to be down converted. The sound needs to understood by every device in the HDMI path, TV's couldn't handle the High-Res audio so it was down converted for them. Projectors not having sound capability do not compromise the sound Res. By connecting this way I got a cleaner signal to my video processor and on to projector and still have High-Res audio. I also have the out-put from my pre-amp free to run to my TV!

This product is everything as advertised. I have the ouputs hooked up to 2 HDTVs and I get crisp video and great audio. No signal loss from I can see. I can run one television at a time or both. I highly recommend this product.

There's not a lot of option on 1-in/2-out HDMI splitter so this is the cheapest one I could find. It works but my projector was slow to recognize the signal. Not sure if it was the splitter, the projector, the AT&T box or the receiver problem.

The splitter is very small so it can be hidden inside the media cabinet without being an eye-sore. However it does get quite hot.

Purchased Onkyo TX SR 706 which has a problem with clipping the video signal from my Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray in "Pass Through Mode". More specifically it was limiting the BTB & WTW portion of the Video signal. This maybe a marginal issue with most users, but I couldn't get past it knowing that I spent $550 on a receiver that couldn't pass through an unaltered signal back to my Samsung HL61A750.
After much agonizing research I found that the Firefold HDMI splitter may solve the problem. Purchased it . Effectively split the HDMI video and Audio to the TV and Onkyo and solved the above clipping problem. However, the overall picture and audio seemed to be lacking something.
Purchased this HDMI splitter and completely love it. HDMI signal split as in the Firefold product, except the video and Audio seemed much better! Would recommend it above the Firefold strictly on performance, but it costs $20 less too!
I don't know why other reviewers in this post say the HDMI Video & Audio signal can't be split with this product?

My biggest beef with this whole issue is Onkyo. The TX SR 706 and TX SR 806 cannot pass through an unaltered Blu-ray signal using HDMI. This is documented in a review of the TX SR 806 in the "Secrets of Home Theater" (Oct'08). Onkyo still denies this problem exists and keeps saying "We have never heard of this problem" even though it is documented that many customer have called to report it. Onkyo has moved on to the 2009 models and will not admit this problem with the 2008 lineup of receivers. Anyway, Onkyo offers no problem solving help for current owners and offer no firmware upgrade to fix the problem, because they stick to the claim the issue doesn't exist.

Wow.......what a stupid company!

I have bought this device so that I can watch my DVR on 2 tv. One in my living room one in bed room. Works like a charm. Very good built!! solid metal casing. The nice led indicator on the device lights up whenever the receiving tv is turned on. The video and sound quality is superber. I love it. Highly recommend it!!!
