Great moment, but for Red Sox fans it was bitter sweet, because all it did was prolong the inevitable, another heartbreak for Sox fans.

A great end to one of the greatest World Series games ever played. What is sometimes forgotten is that this game did more to increase baseball's television audience in the seventies than any other single event. Because of the drama of the sixth game, more viewers tuned in the seventh than had ever watched a Series game. The fact that the seventh was a pretty dramatic game in its own right went a long way to bringing back a TV audience that had seemed to sour on baseball.

Pure magic. It only made the 2004 season better in the end.

If they had played that series ten more times, the Reds would have won all 10! The Red Sox played the best series they could have and the Reds played at their worst, and the Reds still won it!

Certainly memorable, but rather overrated. . .the 'game' was more memorable because it was great, if the Sox would have won the series, then it would have been far more memorable. . .and Sox apologists still have a mental block when it comes to over-mythologizing this game because (despite what PBS-esque, literal intellectual New-England minds would have you believe) the Sox actually LOST this series. . .

How in the world did they not build momentum in Game 7 off of that?? Update: I wonder how Joe Morgan can make it through to the broadcast booth unscathed when the Sunday Night Baseball games are at Fenway.

At the time I was more concerned with what was happening on Sigmund and The Sea Monster, Land of the Lost, and things of that ilk. This was a big moment though, because even though the Sox had some big names like Tiant and Yaz and a lot of kids that went on to have very solid careers, I doubt most pundits would have thought it would get past 5. Keep in mind that they pretty much ran into the best single season clubs in the N.L. for the 60's, 70's and 80's each time they lost, so it's to their credit they even got to 7 each time. Well, the 67 Cardinals MAY not have been the best N.L. team of the 60's, but if they weren't it's very close. One of the great all-time games.

Yeah, you Red Sox morons only had one day to live off of it. Didn't you hear the Yogi Berra quote, It ain't over till it's over? Apparently you didn't get it. ... Your team got complacent, blew a 3-0 lead in that seventh game; spoiling any chance of having that Fisk homer a truly remarkable moment. You lost for God's sakes!

Very memorable moment, but they lost the series anyway.

What a magic moment. Fisk did much more than that homerun though. Check out his stats. He brought the dynamics of being a catcher to a new level.

The single most overrated moment in sports history.

Who cares, they lost the series anyway.

It was close. If you look really closely at the replay, you'll see Ruth's hand near the foul pole, trying to snatch it.
