Bravo for Maz!! As a long time Buc fan, I just wish I was old enough to see or remember that. This is definetely the greatest homer ever hit, with Joe Carter, Kirk Gibson (winning game 1 of the '88 Series), Carlton Fisk (which ended game 6 of the '75 Series) and Hal Smith rounding out the top five. It was Hal Smith who belted the 3-run homer in the bottom of the 8th in game 7 of the 1960 World Series, which set up Maz's game and Series winning homer in the 9th.

Great! A series that was one of the worst pitching performances of all time. If the Yankees hadn't blown a 5 run lead, that home run never happens. Severely overrated.

Casey Stengel shouldn't have made the mistake of being 70. He should've started Whitey Ford in Games 1, 4 and 7. Ford went 2-0 in that series with an ERA of 0.00! The outcome would've definitely been much different.

What a great moment. Doesn't get much more dramatic than ending the World Series with a HR, has only been done twice, this one and Joe Carter in 1993.

I've seen films of this one. It was an exciting moment for a relatively unknown player, but it was also an unusual series because in those 7 games, the Yankees outscored Pittsburgh, 55-27, while losing 4 games to 3. When someone asked Yogi Berra how the Yankees managed to lose the Series, he said, We made too many wrong mistakes.

Any event that beats the Yankees is worth five stars.

David slays Goliath in the most dramatic moment in baseball history.
