 | wronghero (0) 01/29/2006 | You have to give McGruder props for being daring, and at first the strip was a refreshing change, but nowadays he seems to be just phoning it in. Also, his ideology is as rigid as anything this side of Mallard Fillmore.

 | Seraph (9) 09/06/2005 | The Boondocks is the only funny comic left on my local comics page. Although it's known for being a biting radically left-wing satire, I think the funniest Boondocks strips are the ones that stray away from politics (for instance, when the strip poked fun at McDonald's I'm lovin' it ads). Unfortunately, Aaron McGruder is getting more and more poltical, and I'm going to make a prediction that that will be the eventual downfall of the comic. I certainly don't agree with everything Huey has to say, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the strip.

 | sld31879 (0) 06/22/2004 | I'm pretty far to the left, but I have to say I don't like the political turn. McGruder just seems to lack an ear for political humor. It used to be funny, and still is on occasion (usually when on those rare occasions when it isn't about politics), but it's coming dangerously close to becoming a left wing Mallard Fillmore.

 | samjung23 (4) 06/20/2004 | This comic started out very well. I loved the comedy, and its funny social commentary on blacks in the suburbs. All of a sudden, one day, the comic turned heavily far-left, and it's been downhill ever since. I wonder if the artist even knows that much about politics. He seems to like taking the liberal media angle that Bush is the anti-Christ and all evil is caused by him. I know I was like that, anti-Republican, four years ago, before I went to college. There I saw the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party and the true, communist agenda behind it. This black man is not going to be used anymore. I'd rather toss my vote to white people that will actually let me EARN my RIGHT TO SUCCEED. I don't need handouts from rich, guilty white inheritors. Aaron McGruder, get a clue.

 | jouster (0) 06/15/2004 | Rubbish. Sure, have a comic about politics. Sure, use it to criticise the Bush administration. I have no problem with that. But why use children? There's no disconnect: Peanuts was funny because the characters would engage in adult thought processes but still were children with all their fears and little successes. But the Boondocks characters are just complaining adults, drawn as children. They never do anything but comment on politics or watch press conferences, then leave us with a smart ass line. So, each day has the same message and the strips merge inexorably. Mr. MacGruder, why not have them behave like children every so often? And I hate the style of drawing.

 | btdt (0) 04/07/2004 | Racist and unfunny; if you substituted white for black, the strip would be pulled so fast it would make your head spin.

 | Helen Mc (0) 08/09/2003 | Bad. Sorry, guys, but political correctness is the only reason this guy's in print. He gives the impression that all black people think about is Al Sharpton and being all that. Misguided (white) editors will put up with ANY crap if they think it's addressing their black demographic.

 | Classic Steve (0) 05/21/2003 | Not much appeal in the visual department, with computer graphics and very little action. (I have yet to find it online in color, too.) The variety has also been reduced, with most strips nowadays being conversations between Huey and Caesar regarding celebrities famous in the black community. Still, I never expected so much consistency from a cartoonist so young -- the comic premiered when he was 24. The real delight is also the reason many hate it: blunt, far-left politics. Be sure to recognize this as a satire: the cartoonist does not actually promote Riley's mini-thug life or Huey's early Malcolm X-type belligerence, nor does he think all white kids are as ignorant as Cindy. A somewhat nice haven for those who like his ideas, and a stance for debate for those who don't.
