He was fun, just so innocent really, but brave in the end.

My favorite HUMAN character. I guess that it's mostly because I can sort of identify with him in several ways. One, I grew up without a father too. For a little while anyway. Two, I think our personalitties are somewhat the same.

He was just a childish, somewhat geekish farm boy but with time and training he became a JEDI KNIGHT, like his father before him. His life was not as difficult as his fathers, as Palpatine had years of close contact with Anakin, but the conflict within him was quicker, stronger, but not as consuming. He wore his heart on his sleeve, I thought it was kinda funny how he listens to Obi Wan more readily but generally ignores everything Yoda says. Started off on the wrong foot there, though.

Points for being a little less whiny than his dad.

Luke grows more than I think any other character in the saga. Much like his father, with the same impatience, and arrogance at times, he rose to the occasion, and did something his father could not achieve. By resisting the dark side, he brought balance once again to the force, and in the long run, saved Anakin. Obi Wan would be proud.

i thought in episodes 4 and 5 he was a dirtbag. he acted childish. but in return of the jedi, he grew wise and powerful.

In the first movie you can't help but wonder what's going on with Luke deep down. He was kind of a woose - a real whiny guy who's got a thing for his sister. But towards the end his true colors shine and he almost dies a bunch of times, and winds up saving the galaxy. The trilogy shows his transition from boyhood to manhood.

Considering there wouldn't even be Star Wars without Luke Skywalker, it shocks me that he's not rated higher. His character is what drives the saga, his quest to fight for something good and overcome the evil threat both in the galaxy and himself. He deals with many flaws including failure and fear but ultimately he wins in spite of the obstacles...just like any good hero does.

Great with a lightsaber and a X-Wing, but he kind of whines too much.

I liked Luke. I like that he was human, but learned how to become a Jedi.

Luke belongs in the top 5. He had the courage to take on the overwhelmingly powerful Vader and his forces, and he succeeded.

He's what heroes are all about-fighting for the greater good, overcoming modest beginnings to free the entire galaxy from the iron-fisted rule of Vader and the Emperor.
