 | GenghisTheHun (168) 03/26/2008 | First class character. I was kind of disappointed with the revelation that he was Luke's and Leia's father. Lucas and Spielberg must have made it up as they went along. How come Obi Wan Kenobbi didn't spill the beans in IV? I suppose that the writers hadn't thought of it yet.

 | Victor83 (35) 02/11/2007 | He was the central character of the story (beginning with Episode V). The most powerful of all the Jedi and Sith, he remains one if the most intriguing charcaters in any movie.

 | ILikePie (49) 02/11/2007 | If you ignore everything he did in Episode III, the fact he could have been defeated by anybody with Force Lightning (or indeed Electrical Justice *winks at Plo Koon*) and also the fact that he was killed by Luke, you can almost start to realise he is quite cool. His armour and mask make him an intimidating figure.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 11/03/2006 | Now I understand what made him such an ass. He turned into heartless scum on account of his ambition, greed, and pride. That being said, "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" changed my perspective on Vader and I now think he's a pansy that I'd kick around with my very own lightsaber. Yes, I'm a geek.

 | Survivorfan1 (0) 01/27/2006 | Tough life for this guy- starts out as a slave, falls in love when he shouldn't, gets seduced by the Dark Side, tries to choke his pregnant wife, gets burnt to a crisp and gets trapped in a life support suit for the next 25 years which essentially strips him of him humanity. If that's not bad enough he has to deal with not one but both of his kids rebelling against him. At least in the end his fatherly love and concern for Luke outweighs the evil and bitterness inside him. Turns out to be a pretty cool guy good and bad- unique in a villain.

 | drumtool (0) 01/05/2006 | not my fav character in the film but definatly the greatest villian of all time. just think to yourself for a few seconds, imagine someone asking you name the first villian that pops into your head and you think of darth vader and that choke hold is the best i was so just darn happy (and fulfilled) to see it in ep.111 and to who did he give this trademark move to none other than his greatest love. Now that alone desrves the rating of greatest villian of all.

 | the one true freeman (3) 10/08/2005 | ok, so he was ruthless and everything but come on, he was the puppet of Darth Sidious. all the way from episode 3, The Emporer had him do his bidding. Besides, Vader ends up coming back into the light when he saves his son from his master, Palpitine, aka Sidious. Dont get me wrong, he was pretty evil, but he wasnt the worst around.

 | TJGypsy2 (7) 05/26/2005 | I have to throw my vote in with the majority on this one. As far as villains go, Vader was perfect. Merciless when it suited him, forgiving when it suited him, but if you worked for him, you knew that if you screwed up, it probably sucked to be you. I also thought the scene where he earned his redemption was well done, even if I'm not sure I buy into the There's some good in everyone theory of life. Excellent villian, well done. Pity the backstory of how he got that way wasn't done any better than it was.

 | CherrySoda99 (29) 05/23/2005 | A villian he may be, but he is one of the most intimidating villians of all time. I wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of the night and see him standing over me. The whole breathing thing is kind of creepy too.

 | PzKpfw VI E (27) 05/22/2005 | The epitome of all evil characters. Even though, by the end, its not all that evil, his walk, his voice and most of all, his breathing, easily makes him the greatest villian in film.

 | James76255 (17) 05/18/2005 | Probably the coolest villian of all time. By all reasoning, the Darth Vader charecter should seem dated now, but it doesn't.

 | freebird_0128 (5) 02/03/2004 | The best villian in cinematic history in my humble opinion. Dark, menacing, and endlessly cruel, he was ready to murder the whole galaxy (even his own children) if they didn't bow to his master's will. I loved the fact that he was finally redeemed in the end. An intriguing circle that drives the Star Wars saga.

 | lukskywlkr. (3) 06/13/2003 | Almost evil to the core, he redeemed himself at the very end, tossing the Emperor into the power generator. You get the feeling that Luke is right when he says there is still good in him, because he says to one of the Imperial officers "the Emperor is not as forgiving as I am", meaning Vader is forgiving on some level. He even gives his cronies second chances..."don't fail me again, Admiral!" Vader was recently named the #3 all-time screen villain by the American Film Institute, after #1 Hannibal the Cannibal Lecter, and I honestly don't remember who was second. Personally, I would have named Vader the #1 villain, mainly because the Star Wars films have attained more worldwide popularity than "Silence of the Lambs", which is the movie Lecter came from. Don't get me wrong, I love Silence of the Lambs, and the Hannibal character is one of my all-time favorites, too, but I just think Vader is bigger. After all, Hannibal just wanted to eat human flesh, Vader wanted to take over the entire GALAXY!
