Darth Vader helped to make the Star Wars films successful. When he got pissed off, he'd choke people to death. When he told Luke Skywalker that he was his father, I thought he was lying. But later I learned that it was the truth. One thing that I don't understand about Episode IV was when Vader and Obi Wan talked to each other before their duel, Vader showed no rage. If someone cut off my limbs and caused me to nearly get burned to death, I'd be really pissed. One disappointing thing about Star Wars Episode III was that Vader didn't get his suit until the end of the movie. Vader was an awesome villain. I give him a 5 star rating.

Darth Vader is the most epic character ever. He should win a medal. I love him.
theevilmuffin 01/17/2009
I love him..I mean I actually am in love with him. I would like nothing more than to have him be my child's father. I want to birth his children. I really want to pull his firm bod on top of mine.I love to eat apples.I am a male
Ioto 01/17/2009
He was my childhood hero. I decorated my christmas tree with him. I got too more action figures of him this christmas and my goal in life is to create an empire with him as our god

Everyone loves a good villain - it makes the hero a stronger character. With Darth Vader he embodies the the ultimate evil character for the majority of three films.
BSLbreedlover 12/20/2008
I liked him much better as Anakin, but he was pretty cool.
malicia 12/12/2008
Seriously? It's Darth Vader. He is just bad ass.

aclj24 11/26/2008
Being 90% robotic has its advantages when it comes to pushing your weight around; his heavy coarse breathing might've been the only thing wrong with the suit. He couldn't do any of the fancy acrobatic lightsaber tricks like his young self used to do, but he could sure inspire a menacing look nonetheless.
Who else was surprised to find out that he was the father of our hero?
X Factor Z 11/26/2008
He was just so kewl!!!! Come on over to the Dark Side!
irishgit 11/25/2008
Most intriguing character in the original trilogy, well developed and with considerable depth. Great range of facial expressions too.
ObiWanKenobi 11/25/2008
Sure Anakin won the pod race, destroyed that ship as a kid, and saved Kenobi 9 times but other than that he was kinda puss. Obi Wan defeated him and it seemed like he didn't even want to serve the emperor but had to cuz they killed all the Jedi... ya know, nothing else to do. He turned into Vader cuz he wanted the power to save the ones he loved from death, funny thing is that Qui-Gon Jin already figured that out. If he would have just stayed with the Jedi and let Mace chop Palpatines head off... So is Anakin the chosen one (he did throw the emperor over the railing) or is it Luke for facing and defeating both the emperor and Vader?

He is vile and wicked.

I love Darth Vador....James Earl Jones is the man behind the mask.
GenghisTheHun 03/26/2008
First class character. I was kind of disappointed with the revelation that he was Luke's and Leia's father. Lucas and Spielberg must have made it up as they went along. How come Obi Wan Kenobbi didn't spill the beans in IV? I suppose that the writers hadn't thought of it yet.
scotty183 08/21/2007
darth veder is awesome
XAgent 05/11/2007
Kind of lost some points for being a whiny little brat.
Victor83 02/11/2007
He was the central character of the story (beginning with Episode V). The most powerful of all the Jedi and Sith, he remains one if the most intriguing charcaters in any movie.
ILikePie 02/11/2007
If you ignore everything he did in Episode III, the fact he could have been defeated by anybody with Force Lightning (or indeed Electrical Justice *winks at Plo Koon*) and also the fact that he was killed by Luke, you can almost start to realise he is quite cool. His armour and mask make him an intimidating figure.
numbah16tdhaha 11/03/2006
Now I understand what made him such an ass. He turned into heartless scum on account of his ambition, greed, and pride. That being said, "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" changed my perspective on Vader and I now think he's a pansy that I'd kick around with my very own lightsaber. Yes, I'm a geek.
abdelfao 03/21/2006
i like darth vader because he looks cool and he is really good at the movie (acting)
Sharp 03/12/2006
a guy with a mask
Survivorfan1 01/27/2006
Tough life for this guy- starts out as a slave, falls in love when he shouldn't, gets seduced by the Dark Side, tries to choke his pregnant wife, gets burnt to a crisp and gets trapped in a life support suit for the next 25 years which essentially strips him of him humanity. If that's not bad enough he has to deal with not one but both of his kids rebelling against him. At least in the end his fatherly love and concern for Luke outweighs the evil and bitterness inside him. Turns out to be a pretty cool guy good and bad- unique in a villain.
drumtool 01/05/2006
not my fav character in the film but definatly the greatest villian of all time. just think to yourself for a few seconds, imagine someone asking you name the first villian that pops into your head and you think of darth vader and that choke hold is the best i was so just darn happy (and fulfilled) to see it in ep.111 and to who did he give this trademark move to none other than his greatest love. Now that alone desrves the rating of greatest villian of all.
the one true freeman 10/08/2005
ok, so he was ruthless and everything but come on, he was the puppet of Darth Sidious. all the way from episode 3, The Emporer had him do his bidding. Besides, Vader ends up coming back into the light when he saves his son from his master, Palpitine, aka Sidious. Dont get me wrong, he was pretty evil, but he wasnt the worst around.
kattwoman 10/08/2005
when you think evil villains darth vader is sure to be at the top of the list. his voice and appearance made him one of the most recognizable bad guys. he was ruthless and heartless.
NDFEB 10/07/2005
Coolest character to grace the planet with his existence! Noone will ever make anything that will compair to his greatness!!! All Hail Lord Vader!

Darth Vader is the fs-shizznit
TJGypsy2 05/26/2005
I have to throw my vote in with the majority on this one. As far as villains go, Vader was perfect. Merciless when it suited him, forgiving when it suited him, but if you worked for him, you knew that if you screwed up, it probably sucked to be you. I also thought the scene where he earned his redemption was well done, even if I'm not sure I buy into the There's some good in everyone theory of life. Excellent villian, well done. Pity the backstory of how he got that way wasn't done any better than it was.
CherrySoda99 05/23/2005
A villian he may be, but he is one of the most intimidating villians of all time. I wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of the night and see him standing over me. The whole breathing thing is kind of creepy too.
PzKpfw VI E 05/22/2005
The epitome of all evil characters. Even though, by the end, its not all that evil, his walk, his voice and most of all, his breathing, easily makes him the greatest villian in film.
ClieggLars 05/22/2005
He should have stayed on Tatooine, not run off on some damn fool crusade.
louiethe20th 05/21/2005
Where would Star Wars be without him?Update:Episode 3 tells the whole story behind Vader.
Djahuti 05/18/2005
Kind of reminds me of Dick Cheney.
James76255 05/18/2005
Probably the coolest villian of all time. By all reasoning, the Darth Vader charecter should seem dated now, but it doesn't.
drbowler 05/17/2005
Love the red lightsaber... red is a cool color.
Redoedo 05/13/2005
A timeless villian. Darth Vader no doubt go down in history as one of the all-time great film characters (villians).

Great Sith Warrior-punk ass jedi knight
freebird_0128 02/03/2004
The best villian in cinematic history in my humble opinion. Dark, menacing, and endlessly cruel, he was ready to murder the whole galaxy (even his own children) if they didn't bow to his master's will. I loved the fact that he was finally redeemed in the end. An intriguing circle that drives the Star Wars saga.
mikeholly93 09/17/2003
One of the most ruthless, evil, terrifying villians ever in the Star Wars movies and in all of science fiction.
JimmyInAtlanta 06/30/2003
The most interesting character in the series
lukskywlkr. 06/13/2003
Almost evil to the core, he redeemed himself at the very end, tossing the Emperor into the power generator. You get the feeling that Luke is right when he says there is still good in him, because he says to one of the Imperial officers "the Emperor is not as forgiving as I am", meaning Vader is forgiving on some level. He even gives his cronies second chances..."don't fail me again, Admiral!" Vader was recently named the #3 all-time screen villain by the American Film Institute, after #1 Hannibal the Cannibal Lecter, and I honestly don't remember who was second. Personally, I would have named Vader the #1 villain, mainly because the Star Wars films have attained more worldwide popularity than "Silence of the Lambs", which is the movie Lecter came from. Don't get me wrong, I love Silence of the Lambs, and the Hannibal character is one of my all-time favorites, too, but I just think Vader is bigger. After all, Hannibal just wanted to eat human flesh, Vader wanted to take over the entire GALAXY!
