Ben Wallace ended up being a pretty good player. He is also a great Center for the Detroit Pistons. He can rebound and he can shoot midrange and 3 pointers, a superior for many 7- footers. I think he is a pretty good player for the Pistons, but he needs to learn not to argue every foul charged on him.

He gets a four just because he has a ring and is maybe the best big man defender in the league, but should be a three and 7/8 because of the lack of offense. At times, he hurts the team because he can't shoot a lick.

Wallace is starting to decline a little bit, but he's still one of the best rebounders and defenders in the league. So acquiring Wallace didn't quite make the Bulls an instant title contender, but as of right now they do have a very slight chance, being down to the Pistons 3-2 in the conference semis. If they somehow make it past Detroit, they have a real chance against Cleveland. And if they make it to the Finals, Wallace's defense could really slow down Duncan/Stoudemire/Boozer.

I'm as far away from being a Pistons fan as anyone can get, but Wallace is good. His defense is outstanding, and he can finish hard at the rim. Good rebounder too. 3 and a half stars

Welcome to Chicago. Bulls are already defense oriented. With Big Ben, I don't think there is any question that the Bulls are the best defensive team in the whole league.

the only player who can stop Shaq. There is a reason why he is the defensive player of the year. Might not be good on offense, but thats why a team has other players who can score. One of the best defenders in the last 10 years.

Defensive Player of the Year 2006 Kicks Shaq's butt anyday.

Most overrated stiff in the league. He's a product of Detroit system and he isn't even the best defensive big man on his own team. Rasheed is 10 times the on the ball defender that Ben is.

Ben the MAN!! Heck yeah. So you diss him cause he can't shoot. Then have YOUR best defender out-defend Big Ben. It's like staring in the sun too long-painfully blinding. I'm not saying he should win the MVP award. That goes to big scorers AND defenders. But where's the respect at? How long a guy's gotta beat your team defensively before you give him credit?

The best weak side defender in the league, and one of the best all around(thus, DPOY)- He can be an offensive liability when he's outside the post which leaves teams with the option of doubling up on the quick Hamilton or the strong Billups, but that's not usually a factor in most Piston games. Though, it is a sight to behold when Big Ben gets his defense AND offense going. The heart and soul of the franchise, no question!

Just a dominator on both ends of the boards and a lock-down, shot blocking defender. What he lacks in offense he makes up for in other areas.
allstardude1 04/15/2005
He's 6'9 and last year led the league in defensive rebounds per game and blocks per game.
indyboi 02/03/2005
One of the best defenders ever. He needs to work on pretty much everythin offensively though.

I think he's overrated. While he's a freakish athlete and a menace on defense, his offense is a liability. Don't get me wrong - I like the fro as much as the next guy, but Big Ben is a specialist, and more of a nice complementary player than a franchise player.

Even if I weren't a Pistons fan (which I am), I'd still have to give props to one of the NBA's hardest working men. Nobody rebounds and defends like Ben. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't be celebrating an NBA Championship right now!!!
cktops 12/20/2003
Ahem... let's see--- He's the best rebounder, post defender, and shot blocker in the league. So whoever ranked the man terrible does not know basketball. He's not great on offense, I'll give you that. But try to score on him and he won't give you the light of day. Here's to Ben Wallace, the heart of the Pistons.

I'm an avid Detroit fan and I can say he is definitely a great asset to the team!

A monster rebounder! Every team in the league would jump at the opportunity to add Wallace to their roster.
gummocatkilla 05/27/2003
A monster on the boards and blocking shots, there's few players in the league more fun to watch than Ben Wallace. And with no offensive skill to speak of last season, this year he's shown his game develope with jump shots, slam dunks and hit a 3 pointer in the final seconds against Washington. Everyone hates the Pistons and their defensive grind-it-out ugly way of playing, but the fact is that in the past 2 years they've won 50 games both seasons, won back-to-back Central Division Championships and made it to the Eastern Conference Fianls. Look for the 2 time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace to start getting some much over-due respect that he deserves in the near future. When they talk about MVP, how can they not mention Big Ben?
