VERY VERY GOOD...I took the live sound class. It was GREAT. The teachers were super knowledgable and the skills I learned were pretty useful. Now I'm working for my church doing sound and helping some local bands with their shows. I plan to keep working in this field. I'll probably go back and take that music business program. I hear its pretty dope. Crazy how life turns things around for you. When you least expect it, then boom! There you are. I love it though. Wouldn't change a thing.

I had been a DJ in the 90s and only used vinyl and 1200s. I had let the DJ go after getting married and having kids. I decided in 2009 to dust off my turntables and vinyl and start expirementing again.. I was in the dinosaur age!!! I met a DJ at a family wedding and he was using a MAC and some digital equipment to do all of his mixing. I started speaking to him. I found out he was a very successful Chicago Club DJ and was doing the wedding as a favor to the groom who was a personal friend. I also asked him how he started using all this gear. He said he had taken DJ classes at Music Industry Workshop. I decided to check it out. I went to the website got some info, called the school.. They are the only school in the city that teaches DJ classes. I went and enrolled and WOW!!!! The instructor Brian was amazing. Talented, Patient, Helpful. He helped me find decent used gear to get started. I learned a whole new way of mixing!! I have got my certificate in April 2010 and I have restarted ... Read more

In the summer of 2009 I was working at an internship for a record label at the same time I entered MIW so I opted to do some private lessons in the evening. My custom training consisted primarily of music recording/mixing/production with an introduction to the music business also. I got hands on experience with experts like Andy Bosnak, Mark Yoshi, and Ricco Lumpkins who are all amazing teachers in their own unique ways. I started at MIW never having touched ProTools and knowing nothing about audio at all, and came out fully empowered and confident that I could succeed as a professional recording artist. I am now a sophomore in the University of Southern California’s Music Industry Program and can safely assume that I would not be here without MIW. The relationships made and the knowledge gained have provided a foundation that I still draw from on a daily basis even today.

I am a beginner DJ in Chicago. I just finished my very first workshop at MIW and Im sure it wont be the last. With the knowledge from the course and the help from the staff, I feel I could not have started my music career out any better. Ive learn more than I imagined and the staff has been super supportive. Even since the workshop for me has ended.....the staff has still been helpful to me with any questions I have, buying equipment, and networking. My relationship with MIW will definitely continue.

My name is Zita (aka DJ Zita Zie), and I am one of the female DJ's on the electronic music scene who attended MIW. Not only MIW shed light on my unanswered questions and turned my curiosity / hobby into a successful career but I also found lifelong mentors in some of my instructors who are true professionals and accomplished veterans of the industry. MIW has strong programs with good core values and high standards - which is so hard to find these days. I m lucky I did.

One word-AMAZING! From day one I was able to tell that the instructors were all kind and had a TRUE passion for what they do. I enjoyed working with ALL of the people, as well as the other students, at MIW. I feel as if i didn't take the class that i took, I would have missed out on all of the opportunities that have recently opened up to me. I did not feel it was a scam at all. In fact, I feel that it is the best deal around. The classes were not that expensive and I had a lot of ONE on ONE time to work on my personal projects. I loved it! In fact, my favorite instructor would have to be Ricco Lumpkins. He really stood out and helped me on my music. Even to this day we work on music together! Just knowing that he is still working with me even though he doesn't HAVE to is amazing! The passion for music lives on through MIW. Great instructors, caring staff, and other students that share your passion.... What more could I ask for? Thank you MIW for everything you have done for me. My exp... Read more

This institution is FAR from a scam! This is a GREAT tool to be utilized! This program in the hands of a dedicated student of music is PRICELESS! I networked with so many great people that I still work with along with taking my music production to the next level. I developed a great relationship with one of my instructors Grammy Award Winning Producer Ricco Lumpkins. Ricco and I were able to identify my weak points in production during our 1-on-1 lessons and turn them into my strengths as well as get a very in depth knowledge of how music production works on a macro level. I was a good music producer before, but with MIW and Ricco Lumpkins I am a GREAT producer!!! I am still working with Ricco getting beats placed on major artists records and some of my instructors even after I have graduated. My hats off to Reggie the owner of MIW!!! Thanks Reggie!!!
