I don't think Anakin left his mom until Episode VI. I don't know what you all were expecting from a slave boys mother. What, like she would be all emotional? Star Wars is supposed to get you to "think outside the box", not critcize everything Lucas does. He's done those films for you, not just so that you can watch them. I'm telling you, the man's a genius, the proof is in the pudding. His movies suck and they still rake in millions. Down with the Hollywood Empire!

A good, kind charcater to be sure but she lacked the development to be rated this high on the list. She was shown to be loving and supportive and that her death was the first of Anakin's breaking points. Other than that not much else is revealed about Shmi. A rather weakly constructed character but that was the fault of the writing.

Please I think that she had a weak role in the movies I surprised she was even on this list whoever though that she was one of the best actresses in these star wars films isn't much of a fan!

I used to wonder what pushed Anakin beyond the brink of madness. I would have liked to have seen more of this character but I guess it was necessary to show why Anakin became Darth Vader.

what a gene pool! Mother of Darth Vader....Grandmother of Leia and Luke....she wins (of course the greater part of her life was in slavery so thats not cool...but she did end up with the good-hearted Lars family in the end.....of course before being tortured by Sand-people)

Kind and caring, but strong enough to let her son leave her, knowing it would lead to a better future for him. She deserved a better end than she got in Attack of the Clones, but I guess it was necessary to the story.
