I always wondered if the ships smelled fishy when he was around. I suppose I should look closely to see if Princess Leia is ever holding her nose. As for the character himself, he was fairly straightforward and boring. He served his purpose as a military offical but did nothing else to serve the films.

When I was a kid he was one of my favorite characters because he looked cool and was in charge of a badass ship. Now that I know that his character actually has depth I like him even more.
