Doris Day has always been a favorite of mine. She was the good in a lady that most of us ladies wished we were like. I loved her comedy movies with Rock Hudson, James Garner, etc. She made me laugh, cry and understand where she was coming from. She deserves more credit for her career then she's ever gotten. I'm 47 yrs old, and will continue to watch her movies and love her until I'm in my 90's. Keep the good faith, Doris, cuz we love you.

These guys had a great song about Doris Day. I couldn't find it on YouTube, so I figured I'd just link another that proves there was good music in the '80s...

I think that Doris Day is a better actress than she has been given the chance to be. She always seemed to be in those light hearted movies where she was the virginal gal, who got the guy in the end. She has been in a couple dramas that showed she has some real acting ability such as Love Me Or Leave Me with James Cagney. It really seems unfair that she did not have a chance to have more heavyweight dramas that could show her acting ability. She also has a great singing voice. I also like how she runs an org. for dogs and cats. she dropped out of Hollywood for the most part in the early 70s.

Stunning beautiful. Amazing voice. Talented comedienne. One of the most natural and unaffected actresses in the history of American cinema.

Very good light comedienne. She was always pining for Rock Hudson, while he was pining for Jim Nabors (go figure!)

Always played hip chicks for her time period. She was a snappy dresser and very elegant.

In terms of choice for acting roles, very one-dimensional. I can't say I've ever been a Doris Day fan, but I give her credit where credit's due for finding a niche in the sentimentality of some people's hearts.

She earns my admiration for not hating the man who took her to the cleaners: husband, Marty Melcher. She trusted him, and lost millions! Not an isolated case among bigtime actresses. Her big band singing brightened many an otherwise dreary recording. She has at least two records in the GRAMMY HALL OF FAME! A popular contemporary said that Secret Love was one of the most perfect recordings, ever! In the fifties, BILLBOARD used to have a disc jockey poll, and Doris would consistently rank at the top. Miss Day never had a star's ego. But she did have to protect herself from male aggression regarding at least one other superstar. This took a lot of courage. Her persona is well showcased in her autobiography.

Doris Day is a fair actress, not great but not aweful either. She didn't have much depth to her acting.

One of my first favorites. I have all her movies in my collection.

Absolutely beautiful, stunning, adoreable woman. Loves animals, loves life, what's not to love about HER?

Doris Day! Even her name has music! From the first moment she appeared on the screen, America and the world were hooked. She was different, and a breath of fresh air on the screen. Audiences took her to their hearts after they heard her sing and realized that she was truly an ORIGINAL. Doris has natural beauty...she shines and people who watch or listen to her know, that she's a realist. Her performances, both on film and on recordings are classic. My glass is raised to the top female boxoffice star in the history of the movies.

She is the most beautiful person ever. Currently 80 years of age, looks 70 (at the most!) and long ago gave up her career to pursue her true love - saving innocent animals. What a sweetie!!! If this woman doesn't deserve credit on this website, nobody does! Her loveable personality shines through her gorgeous smile and bright face. Her cute character draws you to her and just makes you love her more. A true living legend. There will be no other alike. We love you, DoDo!

Though she was funny, She kind of is repitive with the same roles. You don't see a lot of variety with her. I don't recall her starring in any spectacular role and I don't remember every finding her to be interesting with the exception of Calamity Jane.

A very warm personality that comes across the screen well

Despite the fact that she always played the wholesome movie roles (hey someone had to do it!) she never got enough credit for her music. People tend to overlook what an awsome singer she was. Great big band singer Sentimental Journey, great pop singer Lullaby of Broadway & a pretty damn good jazz singer as well (her album Day by Day is a real classic). If you dont like her movies, check out her music. You might like that better.

It was pretty ludicrous that she played the same role over and over again, the virtuous woman gallantly striving to preserve her virginity, until she was well in her 40s. A third-rate Big Band singer who was physically hot way back in the day, but became rather matronly in the mid-1950s. Pillow Talk, I must admit, is a pretty funny film, and she does put in a good performance, but that role was well-honed because she had done it before.

Dorid Day was the best most wholesome actress in the world and at 79 years I wish she would come back and get involved with movies and singing to give us a treat once again
