09/13/2007 | One of those rare albums that has no B-side. All wonderful tracks, voiced nicely and backed skillfully. Evanescence didn't suffer the typical sophomore slump with their followup album, either. :)

09/12/2007 | evanescence is just too good. i think amy lee has a very very good voice. i've seen her live and it sounded just like that, she does NOT use computer. if you want to see how beautiful her voice is listen to the song Hello from the album Fallen. and of course she sounds a little diff in concert you know how much pressure there is to jump around and sing loudly... most of her songs probably require the peace and quiet of a room to trigger that amazing voice.

01/12/2007 | Fallen is very good album once you've listened to the whole thing about five times. The first song i heard from them was bring me to life and immediately i thought "linkin park", though a good song, other ones that cuaght my ears were, my immortal, everybody's fool, and tourniquet, then when you actually listen to it you start to notice imaginary which is amazing, and hello which is also cool, and lastly my last breath is one of myfavorite heavier songs. I give the album a 9 out of 10 actually.

03/28/2006 | By far the most irritating vocals to hit the airwaves since Tiny Tim. Like fingernails on a chalkboard, her thin, squeaky, whiny voice is difficult to bear, even for a few seconds, let alone minutes. Add to this the fact that the songs are almost indistinguishable from one another, and it boggles the mind why this stuff even makes it to the radio. I'd rather listen to ambulance sirens for three-and-a-half minutes.

01/19/2006 | One of those Cds you can listen to forever and not get tired of it. "Fallen" has great flow and I don't skip any songs. Its a Cd you'll buy because of the chart - topper and keep for all the others. "My Immortal" is really sad and made me cry when I heard it. "Imaginary" is one of the best songs I've heard and Amy has a voice that will haunt you

Why does Amy Lee sounds so much different in concert than on CD? How much do they inhance Amy's voice for that nice pure tone? And when their next CD comes out, how much different will it sound now that Ben Moody is gone?

and alot of other lead singers ho appened to be females and evanescence has his own style. Evanescence is not emo.
evanescece music is unique and the songs amy writes are meningfull.

Maybe I would like Amy Lee's voice, if it was actually her voice. Look at the label she is signed to. No artist goes in there, sings and records, and comes out with an album with no editing.
SO much computer goes into the voices now that I wouldn't even call them voices. Have you ever heard that girl... Julia Robert's neice or whatever. Compeltely not her voice. Well it's the same with Amy Lee and her sad excuses for songs.
If you want to listen to Mope Rock listen to something real, something raw where you can hear the pick on the guitar and you can hear the little imperfections in the singers voice. That is not Evanescence. They are another product of America's capitalist market.

Going under is great. Bring me to life is awesome.Everybody's fool is my favorite song.It is really meaningful. It tells the truth. My immortal is a nice break up song. Haunted is cool. Tourniquet is good. Imaginary is great. Taking over me is really good. Hello is sad but really meaningful and I love it. My last breath is good. Whisper is cool.
I love this cd because the songs aren't all fake and happy. They actually have some meaning! Amy Lee has a tremendous voice and the band plays really well.I can't wait until the next cd comes out. I'm sure it will be just as great as this one!

04/19/2005 | It's a great CD, depending on what kind of music you like. Although I was very disappointed when I accidently bought the piano CD of her album. I am not a piano fan! Some of the songs have a similar beat which gets a little irritating. The songs Bring me to life and My Immortal bring this rating to a 5. Great for people that love gothic music.

10/30/2004 | A hard rating for me to make... I luv Amy's vocals and personal style. She's the first rock chick in 20some years not to pretend to be Joan Jett. Having said that however... the music sourly lacks any trace of originality, just a collection of retreaded nu-metal riffs. Track after track it becomes redundent, only My Immortal stands out above the rock droning.

04/04/2004 | This is a great album. I'm very impressed with the voice of Amy Lee and the music she sings to. This album has a mix of heavy head-banging and soft depressing feeling to it. If you're not into metal you should still give it a try...its very versitile.

11/19/2003 | I truly enjoy this album because I was thrilled to find a band that produces quality rock music with a good female lead. The majority of the songs are quite good with Amy Lee's beutiful voice and plaintive lyrics. Some do tend to get monotonous though, sounding like the one before. All in all, its a good debut.

10/15/2003 | Pop angst. Urrggh. Really if your down listen to Nine Inch Nails or Joy Division or Morrisey or anyone who sounds like they actually care. It's all just recycled cliche and adding pseudo 'classical' touches don't help. Muse did this the right way, with electric Bachisms and genuine soul.

09/25/2003 | I love ths band. Amy's voice is incredible. The only problem I have with this band is that once they got kicked out from the Christian Music Industry they changed their image to seem more "satanic." If u don't believe me, check the magazine covers(there was one with devil horns around their head). They gave up so quickly, and its a shame that just cause of that, they think they can "rebel" by completely reversing their image. Don't get me wrong, they are still awsome and they one of my favorite bands.

The energy is held at a constant high. For this band to have more success in following albums, they should try and bring more levels to the music.

08/28/2003 | The album "Fallen" is a wonderful mix of rock and her ethereal and at times, operetic voice. But of course it is not ALL about the music itself, rather the lyrics as well. It's easy to get lost in the haunting melodies, but she speaks of things that I believe most can relate to. It far transcends the "pre-packaged" music we are told we should listen to, not to mention any names...I'm sure you all know the people and or persons I am speaking of. Their music is deep, a breath of "fresh air" in a world that seems to have succumb to pop icons and boy bands. In short, their album "Fallen," and "Origin" is both lyrically and musically phenominal.

07/30/2003 | What can I say? I know what I like. And not only did I like this CD, I loved it. Amazing vocals from Amy Lee, incredible rhythmic beats and instrumentals. I found myself thinking if I had a band I'd do anything to sound like this. Purely out of curiousity did I listen to this CD which actually belongs to my sister. But after listening to it I might as well buy one for myself or she might never get it back. I liked every single song except for one. That's not bad at all considering it has eleven songs. That one tiny flaw aside, this is an excellent CD that I would recommend to anyone who likes originality and wants to get away from the 'pop' music.

07/03/2003 | This album hasn't left my cd player since I bought it. It's such an amazing mix of heavy guitars and haunting vocals. I know that's how it's often described, but there's a reason for that. The lyrics are beautiful, and the album as a whole is very cathartic. I think that anyone who gives Evanescence a chance will soon fall in love with their unique sound.

07/02/2003 |  I think the best description for Evanescence's music is "rock opera". There is so much going on with the songs on this album, vocally, lyrically, and musically, so many layers, that it is much like an opera. Evanescence does a great job of leveraging their interest in classical music with their love for some decently hard rock. Each song on this album is heavy on the classical strings and piano, with a particularly poignant cello solo on "Hello" and some very sweet violins on "Tourniquet" leading into "Imaginary". But the classical sound is not buried in the screaming guitars and crashing drums. I think it's a great mix. Add to that the vocal genius that is Amy Lee, whom I think has the best female voice in rock today, and the result is some pretty enchanting stuff. While I love the band and their sound, I just can't say enough about Amy - she's only in her early 20's yet she composed the choral arrangements on this album which are hauntingly beautiful (check out "Haunted" and "Whisper"), and her voice resounds with the experience of someone much older. I think she's going to be a huge star. I read an interview in which Amy listed one of her favorite pieces as Mozart's "Requiem", and if you go back and listen to "Requiem" you will definitely see how it influenced this album.
