They were one of the better punk bands of their era.

I thought their first album was amazing, but they rapidly deteriorated after that, until they were actually doing pop/disco. Give them an extra point for longevity, I guess.

"New Rose" remains one of the great punk songs (it's considered the "first" English punk record, appearing a few weeks before the Pistols' "Anarchy". But there's not much else to recommend of those first two records that were supposed to be the good ones. I think they then got all wimpy (I remember a not-bad, but pretty bland cover of Love's great "Alone Again Or" that made it clear they were no longer a punk band...)
